Ready4success reacted to SeriouslyChange in Pathetic
I just don't understand why some people are so stuck on the actions of others. If I decide to eat a small fries from McDonald's right now and then post, nothing you say will remove those fries from my stomach. Telling me I'm a screw up, that I might die, that I have hidden motives, that I wasn't ready for surgery, etc won't change the fact that the fries are sitting in my sleeve. It won't change the fact that I have a sleeve and that I made a poor choice. Encouraging me to make better choices in the future would help.
And if something happened to me, the "blood" would be on my own hands as my hands fed me the fries. Not anyone else's.

Haven't been on here much lately, busy with work and all that jazz, but I'm happy to say I've lost a total of 61 pounds. Here's my stats:
Pre-op diet on 8/14: 282
Day of surgery 8/28: 271
3 month check-up 11/30: 221
I'm now almost half way to my goal of 130 pounds lost!

I still had a co-pay also, but I didn't bat an eyelash. That was the best 100 bucks I've ever spent.

Try a Protein Drink at night. You'll go to bed with something lighter on your stomach, but still feel full.

Ready4success got a reaction from MPrado in Sleeved Two Days Ago And.....
Yes, especially if you're going too fast. Try taking a sip, then hold the Fluid in your mouth, as you slowly swallow small amounts until it's all gone. That's what worked for me. Also, warm liquids went down better. Good Luck!

Ready4success got a reaction from rosehips in August Sleevers..what Is The Progress
Sleeved 8/28
Highest weight 8/14 -282
Current weight -233
I have a lot of energy most days, but never every day. I haven't figured out a way to have consistent, sustained energy. I do a low carb diet (20-30 grams most days, but have gotten as high as 60-80 grams when I mess up:( . It's a journey, and I'm glad I did it.

Ready4success got a reaction from doxieville in My Fit Foods
I've tried their food. It's fresh foods, nuts, and tasty dishes. Some of the dishes were a little bland, but it was an easy fix. I did it pre-surgery, so I was never full after their meals or Snacks, but if you're post-op, you'll probably have enough for two meals, which will offset the cost. I don't have any complaints other than cost, and the inconvenience of not having a center close to home.

Ready4success got a reaction from kmoore in High Blood Sugar Levels
Yes, anesthesia can delay or cancel surgery based on your blood glucose on the day of surgery, because of a condition called DKA, which can cause really high blood sugars. Before you get there, your PCP will need to write a letter of medical clearance, and I just don't see that happening with such a high A1c. To be blunt, either you're incredibly mismanaged on the Metformin or you're incredibly non-compliant with diet. If it's the former, your doctor should have tried you on an additional oral hypoglycemic, because Metformin is doing nothing for you. If it's the latter, I understand, and I've been there. Are you on a pre-op diet? If not, start tomorrow. Drink 2 shakes a day, and a low-fat, low-carb meal for dinner, and your numbers will go down. Drink nothing but Water and sugar-free drinks. NO SODA, not even diet. The surgery will take care of the rest. You can do it!

I think if you do the best that you can to stay on track until it's time to turn in your paperwork, you'll be fine. If you can drink 2 Protein Shakes a day, and a small carb reduced dinner, you can lose another 10 pounds before the end of the month. Also, start thinking about new coping mechanisms for after surgery. You'll need to have them in place to be as successful as you can be after you're sleeved. Good luck, you can do it! Give it all you've got!

Ready4success got a reaction from Nicole Sikes in Buyer's Remorse- My Horrible Road To "recovery" Post Sleevectomy
My heart goes out to you, for your pain, suffering, and the emotional turmoil all of this has brought on. I'm a nurse too, and I'm glad you had a patient advocate in anyone who would listen, and grateful that your PCP took your concerns seriously. I know I've been guilty sometimes, thinking that a patient is over reacting, and not in need. Thank you for reminding us healthcare givers to never discount someone's suffering and to simply listen first, before making judgement. God bless you in your recovery.

I buy the pre-cooked fajita strips in the refrigerated aisle. I throw some shredded cheese on 3, and microwave, and they're so good. Very filling. It comes in beef and chicken.< /p>
