  1. I had my first check up with surgeon yesterday and he said he's not too worried about the pain, but almost every other vsg patient I've talked to has had the pain mostly go away by this point...its not hard like a hernia, but I have severe pain in my abdomen about an inch above my biggest incision whenever I move or am standing. Surgeon says that's where he had to put a stitch underneath my skin (my muscle tissue im guessing) so its still healing...I just feel like it should be better, hope I didn't pull anything.
  2. I never noticed just how many food commercials there are until I got home from the hospital...even the commercials telling u to lose weight show food! I felt like I was bombarded by "eat, eat, eat, eat, LOSE WEIGHT FATTY, eat eat eat"
  3. tried this...soooo good! my hubby and son had it on top of spaghetti.
  4. so what weight excersizes to you do? i want a schedule...like doing arms 2x/week maybe, then focusing on abs, then legs and butt, etc.
  5. Someone told me that non-synthetic veggie based protein powder would be better and more easily digested than the 100% whey im currently using. Does anyone use it or know where I can find it for relatively cheap?
  6. I've never really been good at exercising so I need ideas on where to start...I've heard cardio is super important and intend to hit the treadmill and elliptical, but what should I be doing to tone (hoping to reduce the flab).
  7. All this talk and I want refried beans really bad...you all are so mean! Lol. Ill hold off until after my first checkup with surgeon.

  9. I just baked some tilapia for my whole family..it only needed a bit of seasoning, you can even put lemon slices on while baking..its quick and easy. I made some steamed zucchini slices with it and rice for the hubby and son. I could only fit maybe half a filet and two zucchini slices minus the skin, but it was nice to have something that I could eat with my family.
  10. I've been going a bit egg crazy because its the first thing from my preop life I have been able to eat...scrambled with a bit of cheese and poached was ok...then I made an egg salad today...dunno if I ate too fast or the mayo did it, but I had to lay down from the nausea I felt.
  11. I have had some killer cravings lately too...one day sesame seed bagel, the next was sushi, today was pizza...I just finished a portion of sugar free pudding with half a scoop of protein so im sooo not hungry. It comes and goes, just vary the mush as much as possible.
  12. Before the throat pain wasn't scratchy or sore, just felt like there was a small piece of food in the very back of my throat I couldn't swallow...today its kinda scratchy when I drink and achy sore...so strange, hope it goes away by tomorrow, done with doctors until my 3 week checkup.
  13. I've cheated on the full liquid diet, but only with very soft foods like mushy veggies in my soup and about a tablespoon worth of scrambled egg...even though its mushy I still chew chew chew to avoid the pain...its bad enough when I take a large pill, can imagine just jumping into having something really solid.
  14. I should also say that I also have lost 21lbs, so it is worth it, just hard...I have a recipe for turkey mushroom chowder that I made for myself tonight then just threw it in the blender and added a bit more milk. Was better than canned stuff.
  15. In 3 days im allowed to transition to the soft/pureed stage and im just struggling. Im tired of soup, protein drinks, jello, broth and pudding...I just want some sushi or something!
  16. Also, has anyone noticed they have to sleep in a certain position or they get cramps? I can only lay on either my back or my left side...stomach just hurts and right side gives me cramps.
  17. I like combining plain greek yogurt, fruit (banana, mango, strawberry, blueberry, etc.), a splash of vanilla extract, scoop of protein and skim milk to thin it out. I've noticed if I combine the first three ingredients in blender then mix protein and milk by hand I don't get the mountain of froth. Also, they are kind high in sugar, but I love these ensure clear blueberry pom drinks...I don't always want my protein in milkshake form.
  18. I felt there needed to be a topic where people could ask for and give advice to those who are wondering if what they are experiencing is normal or not. I myself had a three day migraine after surgery that nothing helped, strange bowels and constantly have a tickling feeling in the back of my throat that feels like there's a tiny piece of food or something (but liquid diet prevents that from being the case) My husband and I were thinking maybe something scraped and scabbed over in the back of my throat from the camera they put down my throat while I was under...anyone have any thoughts?
