  3. Don't get discouraged so soon! As the previous poster said, you had IV fluids and it takes time for everything to balance out again. Stay off the scale for a week, follow your surgeon's instructions carefully, and give it time. There are so many changes at first the LAST thing you need is to be disappointed by the scale. Hang in there!
  4. Kick some butt! That is awesome. Modify exercises for your fitness level when you begin if you need to - you got it though!
  5. Magnesium supplements are effective.
  6. Challenge start weight July 4 - 219 Original GW 199 Revised GW 189.9 CW 189.3!!! Very happy with my results. I did not expect to lose at this pace. I am on to the Halloween challenge... And have no idea what to expect about how fast the weight will come off! Congrats to everyone on their hard work.
  7. Pookeyism has a post in this forum titled Lap Clap Making Running Impossible, people responded with a variety of ideas. It was last added to in mid August so it should be easy to find.
  8. CW192.2 Challenge Goal Weight 199 Challenge start weight 219 I'm just sticking to the plan. I would love to get to 189.9 by Labor Day.
  9. I don't think the dress looks 10 years old - it seems pretty current to me! I say go for it. How exciting! Congrats.
  10. I was recently told by my nutritionist to cut back on my protein. She told me that it was hard on the kidneys to have too much protein. I don't know the science of it, but listened to her advice as I only have 1 kidney.
  11. I have heard that for folks with serious weight problems that 60 minutes is a minimum. Yikes! I am not a fitness guru, this is just what I have read. I sometimes don't quite get the full time in, sometimes get in more, and I always take 1 day off per week.
  12. 255 May 3 245 May 10, day of surgery 196 today! Goal seems a long way off, but I'm enjoying the process!
  13. I am not much of a cook either - you find little ways to make healthy meals with little time and effort. The biggest difference might be that you plan ahead for what to eat rather than just pick it up on the go. Although I have resorted to Wendy's chilli in a pinch and that works. You will be able to find foods that work for you - but it may just take a bit more thought. It is only natural to be scared the night before your procedure. You are signing up for a lifestyle change and it's hard! I recommend that you do something soothing - read a book, listen to music (whatever works for you) and try to get some rest. You will feel better in the morning if you can. Good luck tomorrow - I hope your jitters subside and you are able to go into surgery strong in your convictions and excited for the new you! I wanted to add that you should think about signing up for MyFitnessPal if you haven't already. A great way to track calories, activities, and nutrition information - but also a fantastic opportunity to friend other sleevers and see what they are doing with their food journals and take inspiration. I'm Mtmw1975 on MFP if you want some ideas or support.
  14. I'm 12 weeks post op and am trying to connect with people who have a similar approach to this journey. I am pretty much by the books, on the plan, trying to get to my goal every day. I've lost 58 lbs in just over three months, but have another 57 to go. I would love to find others taking the same approach with fitness and diet - I have a lot to learn still! Mary
  15. I am 12 weeks out and measure everything. I can eat about 1-1.5 ounces of meat for a meal, and possibly a few bites of veg. If I eat too much, just one bite past full - it all comes up. I am very careful! I think measuring is the way to go, but I am sure you will find what works over time. Good luck!
