  1. Sharon would love to join, I am getting sleeved May 29th. Nervous but excited too! I will send you a friend request. Lori
  2. I cant say enough about quitnet. com for people trying to quit. There is no charge for the basic and my understanding is that many states and canada pay for a premium membership. It is a lot like this site. The community is amazing. I dont think I would be quit for 5 months without them. I was a hard core smoker and at first decided that after the surgery I would start smoking again. Now I can honestly say I will never light another one. I love how I feel now, cant wait to see how its gonna be once I lose this weight! Lori
  3. Thanks! That really does help. I am sure its normal thinking. I just have to put my trust in my surgeon and anestesiologist and I am sure I will be just fine

  5. Hi Jazzy, Welcome. I am new here too. I just found this site a few days ago. I get my sleeve on Tues May 29th. I also had a 7 month wait but I was glad of that. Gave me a lot of time to decide which procedure to go with, and to quit smoking too. I am nervous but excited at the same time. I am ready to do this! This site by far has been the most helpful to me. Very glad I found it. I feel much more at ease about my choice. Lori
  6. Welcome Cliff! I get my sleeve Tuesday May 29th so I am right behind you. I just found this site myself a few days ago. Already feeling better about my decision Lori
  7. I quit smoking 5 months ago in preparation for this surgery. I used chantix and would highly recommend it. I joined another support group called quitnet.com and they were great! Spent a lot of time on there in the beginning. I also gave up drinking alcohol, and caffiene. The smoking and caffiene were the hardest for me. I quit smoking early because I knew I had to also quit the others, and for me to do it all at once would have been just crazy. I was not happy about it, but now so far its the best thing I have ever done for myself! The sooner you quit the better off you will be when your surgery date comes. Also it was not an option for me. I have had 2 nicotine tests and will probably have one more the day of the surgery. My surgeon will not do the operation if I have smoked in the last 8 weeks. Lori
  8. I am terrified. I keep trying to re-focus. I know I am going through with it. Mine is on the 29th of May (Tuesday). I have never been put under before. This site has been great. It has helped to ease my fears and keep me positive. Good luck with your surgery I am sure we will be just fine. Lori
  9. Thanks Jenny, I have never had any surgery so I really dont know what to expect. Just grin and bear it I guess. I know its totally going to be worth it. The hospital I am having it done at keeps us 2 nights so I think I am going to be grateful for that extra help for 1 more day. Good luck to you, and I hope you are feeling better soon
  10. Congratulations! Its posts like these that make me feel better. I go this coming Tuesday for mine. I am excited but scared too! Lori
  11. I must be one of the long waits then after reading this. My process took from October of 2011 to now. My surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday finally! I think I am glad it took so long, I quit smoking 5 months ago, gave up any alcohol over a month ago and also stopped caffiene 3 weeks ago. If I had to do that all at once I would have been a basket case! Especially the cigarettes and coffee! It also gave me time to really research it and make sure it was what I really wanted. I have had plenty of time to back out but I am going for it! No looking back Lori
  12. You look fabulous! I am so happy for you. Im afraid being 46 years old, no matter how much I lose I will never see a bikini. But I have a pool and love to swim so I still want to look good in a bathing suit. Congratulations! You rock that bathing suit girl! Lori
  13. Oh yea..Victoria's secret for sure! I also cant wait to wear high heels again..like 3-4 inch heels haha! I also have a horse (yes a real one) that I havent been able to ride for a while. I am really excited to be able to get back into a riding routine. Its great exercise for both of us! Lori
  14. Hello, Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am getting my sleeve May 29th and getting excited. I was very nervous about the whole thing until I found this site. SO happy I found it! I love reading about everyones success stories. So..how is everyone doing so far who has had a sleeve done in May? We are nearing the end of the month and I am especially curious as to how those who had it in the beginning of May are doing? I am into my 2nd week of my liquid diet (yuck!) but its getting routine. Just ready for the surgery to be done! Lori
  15. Prayers headed your way Aaron! Good luck today. You will do great Lori
  16. Hi Michigan sleevers! My surgery date is coming up fast. I have been on my liquid diet for over a week now. Surgery is scheduled for May 29th. I am having it done at Hurley in Flint. I have Dr. Farhan. Scared but excited too. Im ready to make this commitment! Lori
  17. Hi Elaina, What Katie said is straight out of the book I recieved from my pre-op class. My surgery is next Tuesday. Important that you take a Multivitamin and Vitamin D in the morning, calicum in the middle of day and then another multivitamin at night before bed. Concentrate on getting your protiens in first, then your veggies etc. I also agree you need to find some local support in your area, either with a support group or with a therapist. Good luck! Im sure you are going to do great! Lori
  18. Been walking every day. I am down 9 lbs since last Monday. My goal is to get up and move as soon as I can and not stop. Might have to try that Muscle milk. Anything has to be better than what I have now. Im just worried that since I have a hard time now its gonna be really tough after. Right now I also have to have it super cold and thinned down. I hold my nose and chug it! I think since I will have to sip it after, that I also will use my blender and try it that way. Lori
  19. I was afraid of that. I guess I will just have to keep trying different ones after the surgery. Thank you for the encouragement. Lori
  20. So glad I found this site. Its the first I have heard of that. I imagine I will be here a lot! Lori
  21. Hello, I am just into my 2nd week of the liquid diet. My surgery is one week from today. The hardest part is actually seeing food in front me. I am not hungry really. I am amazed at how well the protien shakes fill me up. I had to go to a bridal shower on Sunday. That was tough. I also work in a large office and they have had food put out every day since I started. I am being tested hehe. That being said, the time is going pretty fast. Im scared to death to have the surgery but I am ready to go. Lori
  22. Hello, I am from Saginaw Mi. Getting my sleeve done May 29th at Hurley Bariatric in Flint Mi. I have Dr. Farhan. Getting nervous and excited too. I am on my 2nd week of the liquid diet (UGGH)I cant wait to find a different protien shake to use. The ones they have us taking are horrible. Any suggestions? Just thought I would introduce myself.
