  1. I had surgery so this would be my 2nd day post op and I'm wondering how much is too much fluid in one setting. Beyonce (my sleeve) is nice and warm after sipping a cup of chicken broth. I was able to sip it in about 10 minutes and the cup is a small coffee cup. Am I ok to do this? The cup is probably about 6 oz.
  2. Slightly different topic. Has anyone had post op headaches? I have had one since the day after surgery and can't get rid of it. My pain meds don't touch it. I'm hydrading so not sure what it is.
  3. I agree, sounds like dehydration and heat exhaustion. Rest and get some fluids. Hope you feel better soon.
  4. OMG! I am so sorry for you. Hope you get better soon.
  5. I am so grateful that that I have the help and support of all you wonderful ladies when I have questions. Thank you!
  6. Your surgeon will most likely place a small bulb shaped drain in one of your incisions. This drains the extra blood/fluid from around your new sleeve. It may be a little uncomfortable, not really painful. When they remove it slowly it doesn't hurt.
  7. Karen, Minkle thank you. I won't be so freaked out in the shower tomorrow. It just took me so long to decide to get my Beyonce that I don't want to get an infection or have any complications.
  8. Janedeaux, you can name yours Sasha. I think that is Beyonce's alter ego. Beyonce is going to help me bring my sexy back. I have felt like a frumpy, middle aged, overweight woman the last 10 years.
  9. Did soap and water get into the drain hole? I'm sorry, I know it seems like a weird question.
  10. Yours didn't get infected by not changing the it for 3 days? Mine is draining. I can see pink underneath the dressing.
  11. I'm glad you are feeling better. Sorry you had so much pain. Hang in there, it does get better. I'm 3 days post op and feeling a little sore but better.
  12. I have a hole where the drain came out today. I was told to wash my sites with soap and water and cover with a dressing daily. I'm I freaking out over nothing about the fact that it looks like a small hole and if I wash it with soap and water that it may become infected with the soap and water getting in it? Has this ever happened to anyone?
  13. I walked around plus the gast strips helped me pass the gas. I sipped in very small sips. Hard to explain but if you put the liquid to your mouth and almost suck/inhale a small amount that passes your lips, its almost like a tiny sip. That helped me. I found that when I sipped too big, Beyonce (my sleeve) did not like it and I have a little uncomfortable pain going down. Just rest as much as you can and focus getting the fluids down. Gatorade and broth may help as they have a little sodium which may perk you up a bit. Good luck
  14. Feelling pretty good after surgery. Walking and using my incentive spirometer. My sleeve I a bit grumbly. Gave her some ice chips. I only have 3 incisions. The Dr said my liver looked great and was very small.
  15. Missmeow I apologize. I read the wrong post.
  16. Not sure where a BMI of 32 came from because that isn't me. Let's see, health problems: sleep apnea, pre-diabetic and high cholesterol, GERD and joint issues. I have lost weight, repeatedly like most on this website. Having 85 percent of my stomach removed (although still waiting for the OR) was not a decision I made lightly.
  17. Why thank you girlfriday ????
  18. Waiting in my room now. My surgery is in two hours.
  19. Sneaking in my last cup of herbal tea before 10pm. My surgery is at 12:30 tomorrow.
  20. Hee hee, what about Vodka, that a clear liquid. Dying for a cocktain tonight.
  21. Why do some doctors in Mexico have you on a 3 days of clear liquids (torture) yet others let you eat the night before with nothing from 10pm on?
  22. This day three of clear liquids before surgery and I am ready to eat my plastic water bottle. Has anyone ever heard of the MD taking some of the patients out to dinner the night before? I thought I read it somewhere. Maybe it was on Aceves website.
  23. Sounds good. I would wait for the incisions to heal first though.
