  1. Thanks. We have to just keep doing what we are supposed to be doing and the weight should come off. Good luck!
  2. Weight is coming off slow for me too. I had surgery December 17th and have lost about 53. It's nice to be in smaller sizes.....but it's weird when I go shopping and try on clothes. Sizes I used to wear seem so big now.

To tell or not to tell

I felt bad lying to people too......I think that's why I am ok now with telling people if they ask. Everyone has been very supportive so they helps too.

To tell or not to tell

Before my surgery I only told family and close friends because i too didnt want to deal with negative reponses. I slowly have been telling people since I was two months out. It has surprised me how many respond that they know someone who has had WLS or have had it themselves r are thinking about it.
  5. I had a hard time with that the first couple months. I am about 3 1/2 months out and it has gotten much easier. I use crystal light and lots of ice. Hang in there....it gets better and easier.

    Has anyone not lost hair?

My surgery was 12/17/12 and my hair started falling out this week. I take biotin daily....get my required protein in, and take a multivitamin . I hope it stops falling out soon. Good luck.....maybe yours won't all out.

    In the DUMPS!

My guess is that since you are burning more than taking in your body is going into starvation mode. I was taking in around 600 calories and working out too and not losing much. My surgery was 12/17/12. I have upped my calories to about 900-1000 and after a week of that the scale is moving again. This past week I finally started losing again....about 4 pounds. My total loss is about 42. Good luck. Hang in there....the weight will start coming off again.
  8. My doctor said that is where he pulled the part of the stomach out that he cut off and that is any it's a lot more tender and sore.

    So fustrated

I had surgery December 21st and have only lost 35. The nurse at my drs office said that its better to lose slower so the fat cells have time to shrink. It does get frustrating, but everyone loses at different rates. I will go several days without losing, sometimes a week then I will lose 1-3. Hang in there....keep eating the protein and drinking fluids and the weight will come off. Good luck.

3 week Sleevers! How much protein?

Yes it is hard to get it all in. I wish I could still drink Protein shakes...I have a hard time drinking them lately. Keep up the great work!

3 week Sleevers! How much protein?

I get about 60, but sometimes struggle with that much. How do you get 100 in a day?

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

I have BC/BS and had to do the six months physician supervised doctor visits. Apparently some time last year they changed their policy requiring this be done. Good luck.

    protein shakes :(

I like the body fortress chocolate peanut butter. I tried the GNC brand but it upset my stomach (post op). The chocolate peanut butter tastes better if you blend it with some ice to make it like an ice cream shake. I am having problems tolerating any protein shakes post op. pre op I just drank quickly. Can't do that anymore. I did not like the isopure GNC one that came premixed in the bottle....had a very nasty smell and after taste. I have tried the premier chocolate shakes and those are ok. Good luck to you.

    How are you tracking?

I use my fitness pal. I have it on my iPad and can scan barcodes of the foods I eat. I like it....works great.

    Stall! Yuck

I have the same thing going on........I have lost 25 since I started my pre-op. the past four days, have lost nothing.....except the two I gained. Hopefully we are stalled for too long.
  17. My surgery was 12/17. I was on clear until I got home, then full liquid. However the first week was hard to get even water down. The lortab made me sick at first. By the second week I was able to drink protein shakes and my other protein drinks. I was on phase 2 for three weeks which included the drinks, low fat yogurt, ( absolutely no chunks), sugar free jello and pudding and soups with no chunks. Starting Monday, I am moving to phase 3 in which I can start more solid foods such as cottage cheese, eggs, refried beans, tuna fish, canned chicken, low fat cheese, string cheese, chili (no big chunks of tomatoes though), fish (grilled or broiled, no breading). The NUT said to start slow, small amounts, and eat slow. Also eat on a schedule, every 3-4 hours. She also said I could have low fat cream cheese, and thinly sliced deli meat. Another thing that the nurse told me that may help the slow losers feel a little better....she said that losing at a slower, steady pace is better because your fat cells are able to shrink and keep up with the changes. I lost 9 pounds pre-op and have lost about 16 post up. I am excited to be so close to the below 200 mark. I haven't seen that in sooooo long. It doesn't seem real to me to see the lower numbers on the scale. But it sure is a good feeling! Good luck to everyone.

    Isopure protein drink

I tried the grape Isopure today and didn't like it. It has a funny after taste to me.
  19. I was doing well getting in my protein, however the past couple days I have really struggled. In another thread someone posted that protein blitz grape drink is pretty good. It has 40 grams of proteins. I am going shopping this weekend and going to see if I can find it. Unjury makes and unflavored powder you can add to stuff. Not sure how it affects the taste. Good luck to you.
  20. Every doctor is different....and that's ok. : ) What kind of puréed stuff have you eaten? And what do you use to purée it? Btw.....I noticed my iPad autocorrect and put in the word "blue" for able. Funny. Good luck to you.
  21. I am still on full liquids too. I have an appointment with the nutritionist Friday to learn more about the next phase. I am so ready to move on. I have had a scrambled egg made thinner with milk twice this week....but only was blue to eat half. It tasted good.
  22. Yes.....my legs have had that restless feeling too. I had problems with that last spring but it went away. The past two nights it has been back. I found stretching helped some. Let me know if the postassium helps. I am taking my vitamin like doc said....maybe there isn't enough potassium in it.
