My dr told me to expect this. As we lose weight are body adjusts and sometimes it causes pain. Mine is in my upper back and neck. She gave me naproxen which works great and doesn't upset my stomach

I have a male friend who is 7'3'' with a BMI somewhere in the 40s. Obviously he has to shop at the big and tall store. He refers to it as the fat and freakey store (kinda hard on the self image if thats where you shop).
    I just got into a 12 too !!!!
Congradulations... I know you must feel great

    Thanks Chancie,
Being a guy and weighing in at 352 prior to pre op diet, I know that 100 pounds in 4 months is very attainable. My true goal weight is 215ish, the Doctor thinks I will wind up in the 190's, I doubt it, plus I hope to have a built up some muscle tone by the time I hit goal. We will see.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and the motivation I gain from how successful you have been.

Ok, so I've never tried this with Protein powder, but if you try it, let me know how it tastes lol:
1 palmful of grapes fresh or pre frozen for a thicker smoothie(126g)
1/2 cup of coconut Water (remove this of you want to make an acai bowl)
1/2 brick of acai roots pure unsweetened acai purée (buy at whole foods or health food type stores)
1 scoop or strawberry Protein Powder
    Good luck!

I am currently 12 weeks out, and my temptations are still there. After being advised pre-surgery that I shouldn't eat rice, noodles, or bread for at least a year or longer, or really -- ever. I almost flipped inside my head. I'm now okay if I never eat rice or noodles again, but the smell of bread (any kind) makes me go a little koo-koo. Just last week some co-workers were toasting Bagels in the office kitchen that were left over from a meeting and it drove me nuts that I had to take a breather outside.

Most of us here are either compulsive or food addicts of one sort or another. That's why we take the drastic step of having permanent surgery to assist us. I replaced my food addicition with an addiction to exercise - healthier but something I still fight with. You've recognized the issue. I had to get the bad things in my house out (I just threw them out one day and told my wife that I can't have them around, I'm not strong enough yet) and make sure that temptation was out of my reach, When I have these issues it's because I don't have the right choices near enough to me. I make sure that I have lots of cold Water and flavored waters in the house as well as the right items to eat in the house, especially Protein. For me, that snack choice is beef or turkey Jerky. It's expensive but it gets me through the difficult times, it's low in calories and high in protein. Keep working and remind yourself that it's one day at a time, just like any 12 step program.

3.5 here, an similar to others. Beans, Greek yogurt, some "bites" I made (buffalo chicken and chicken enchilada..yum!), hummus, canned chicken, avocado, and Protein shakes. Made eggface's baked ricotta this week as well. If you go to my blog you can see my food diary as well as some blog posts on what I've been eating with recipes.
Still struggling to get 600 calories in, but never less than 80-90g of Protein a day.

Thank you everybody for your encouraging posts. I do know what I have to do. I also realize that the first 6 months wasn't really "work" at all and the pounds pretty much dropped off. Now that it has flowed, it is going to take planning and work. I just made a pot of turkey chili to have for meals this week....either lunch or dinner.
It has to be back to basics for me! Thank you again. Hopefully I will have good news to report soon!

I think you may be psyching yourself out. You've recognized and admitted what your issues are, now you just have to deal with them. Posting here is a great first step! The quote I keep thinking about for you is "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right". You need to decide which you want more, to lose weight or to keep eating foods that don't help you lose weight. Once you make that decision, you can move forward. If you choose to lose weight, then you know you need to get back to basics and follow the plan. 70 grams of Protein per day, plus at least 64 oz of Water per day. It's as simple and as hard as "follow the plan".
This isn't a diet. It's a complete and total lifestyle change. You can have food that isn't strictly Protein as part of your normal diet, but you have to learn how to work it around getting in the necessities.
Start using some kind of food and exercise tracker. I like My Fitness Pal and I use that in combo with my Fit Bit. They tell me where I'm succeeding and where I'm failing on a daily basis. It's been a huge help to me when I slow down on losing weight. I also track my measurements and how my clothes fit so that I can see my progress, even if it isn't scale progress.
You will succeed. This is just a bump in the road. Get over the bump and move forward. The past is the past and you still have the perfect tool to reach your goal. You just have to decide how you're going to use that tool.

Tomatoes are acidic, but if you are using a PPI and can tolerate it, you should have little problem with them. As noted before, sometimes I have to spit out the skins if they don't go down. But that is not big deal. Tomatoes are just like candy to me, so I pop the little cherry tomatoes when they are available. Kathe

Don't do it!! After a while you won't care any more. That stuff will rot you from the inside out and stretch your sleeve. (even if it didn't, it's not good for the gut.)
Powerade zero is my new favorite. I'm a big baby when it comes to Water, and I had trouble tolerating it for a while, so I drink this a lot now.

The day I went to the seminar was the last day I had diet coke. I drank only pop for more than 20years....which just makes me feel old atm.... I've not really noticed a huge change. I mean I hear about everyone else losing weight or better skin...i got nada. But I'm ok w/ it surprisingly. I knew if I couldn't kick this habit the weight issue wasn't ever going to be resolved. I'm overall happy w/ my choice.
i do miss it. and when my family asks me to pass them a pop sometimes I smell it just to remind myself of how it used to be lol. I can tell how old a pop is just by sniffing the open can, not sure if that's just being weird or if it's an acquired ability

I like the vanilla Muscle Milk Light, but it does have a sort of "super sweet" quality to it. The cartons that I get at costco (I am cheap) have 20g Protein. Out of the vanilla ready to drink products, it has been the best until I noticed yesterday that Premier Protein recently changed the formula on their ready to drink vanilla (which I previously hated). I bought and tried the new Premier vanilla and I think it is much better than the old formula, less gritty by far. So, if you tried that before and didn't like it, you might wish to try the new formula.
The manufacturers of Muscle Milk also make a powdered product under the brand "Cytosport". I buy this at costco (comes in large bags) and add it to coffee for 27 g of Protein. The Cytosport mixes very well with hot or warm coffee.< /p>

This is great, Amy. I would love to incorporate bean powder. Thank you for the idea. I am also a fan of oatmeal.< /p>
Earlier this week, I made a loaf of Tomato basil bread in my bread maker for my husband (I am not eating bread at this time, six months out), and I used low sodium V-8 instead of Water in the recipe, and he just loved it. Vegetable juice is a great substitution, and the low sodium V-8 is a great source of potassium.
    Again, thanks!
