My immediate family knows, aunts/uncles/cousins do not. A few friends know, coincidentally none of them live in the same state as me. Work knows I have (had) a lap-band, and that I've had surgery, and a few co-workers know that my surgery was related to my lap-band. They can draw whatever conclusions they want.
When I had my band I told anyone who asked. I didn't advertise it, nor did I hide it. This time around I just didn't want to deal with having to explain what happened, why, what was being done to fix it, etc.

Hopefully this part of your journey will be over soon and in a few months, just a distant memory. Replaced by happy new memories of great weight loss, a healthier, happier you and a bright future ahead!

I am very envious of all of you, that have already excelled at this endeavor. I do admit, that I am a bit scared of failure. My surgery is scheduled for aug 16. My daughter's bridal shower is aug 21. I hope I will be able to attend!

I have not had the surgery yet so I cannot say what will or might happen. However I have viewed hours of You Tube - Vertical Sleeve posters videos and I have not seen one yet that the poster said they have not lost all weight. I would be interested in the comments of those who have had the VGS for a year or longer too. I am still in the process of deciding which to choose, the replies could be the deciding factors.

CONGRATS!!!! Sounds like you are doing GREAT!

Congrats Thinmint! Glad to hear your skin is tightening. I heard it can shrink for up to a year after your weight stablizes, Mine isn't terrible, but I'd like it to be better!

The first place fat gets stores is the liver. It has to do with how much fat and carbohydrates you are consuming prior to surgery. As you eliminate the carbohydrates and eat sensibly the fatty liver will disappear. Skinny people can have fatty liver, it's not about your bmi or your size.

No awareness what so ever. One minute I'm awake in the ER, and the next I'm waking up in recovery. You don't have a normal process of falling asleep, like when you're tired and gradually doze off. It's like a light being turned off.

Yes, my week 2 was pureed also. I didn't try the tuna until yesterday! I am not too sure about the Carnation Instant Breakfast due to calories and low Protein compared to those specifically for weight loss surgery or heavy training. EAS products from Wal-Mart are highly recommended. Try that and see if you are still experiencing the hunger. Also, are you getting in all 64oz. of liquids each day? That should also help with hunger.

Well I'm so glad it worked for you! Yes it will definitely be a life long process but yes this is why I had the surgery! So I could physically not eat anymore! I'm almost 2 weeks post op and at this point I'm nervous to gain weight! I'm so anxious to loose it now.... I just want to
Lose it already! People say I've lost weight but idk.. But excited to see what happens! I find myself getting so frustrated that I can't eat anything that I just don't eat at all!!!! Bc I'm so annoyed so I just say screw it! Bc its not

I can't wait to be able to borrow and share clothes with my two sisters (and not just shoes)
I can't wait to not feel completely self conscious in a bathing suit
I can't wait to see people doing something fun and instead of thinking "I'm too fat to do that" instead thinking "I can do that!"
I can't wait to see people from high school and not be embarrassed by how much weight I've gained in 6 years
I can't wait to love myself enough that I can let other people love me

Yes to everything above. I really want to go horseback riding again. And be able to play lacrosse with the girls I coach. Also, be able to mo e between my students' desks and not worry that they are laughing at my fat bum. I really would live to look forward to getting dressed every day and I can't wait to not think about food all the time. I really hope a lot of my physical pain and exhaustion from lupus goes away. I will love it when people I haven't seen for a long time look surprised to see me. Thanks for getting me psyched.

I had my surgery a week before you on the 7th, and omg I understand. I'm ssssooooooo ready for real food, can't do the shakes, Protein Drinks or the ubber gross Protein Shots. I need some food suggestions asap lol

I was sleeved May 10. Lost 15 pounds on the pre-op diet and 21 more since. Feeling great and no complications at all. Did a 7 mile bike ride this morning and then ate 2 scrambled eggs for Breakfast with no problem. 2 weeks ago I never thought I'd feel this normal this fast.

I'm new to this board, and these replies are hilarious!! I haven't been sleeved yet, but anxiously waiting to get cleared by my cariologist!
Anyway - each woman will be different in how much "boob" they loose. Breasts are made of fat and mammory tissue. The more fat they contain - the smaller they get when you loose weight. The more mammory tissue they contain - they tend to remain more or less their regular size.

Really?? One of the unexpected blessings from my sleeve is that I DON'T burp and fart anymore!!

The only thing i would suggest about the food is switch up the flavors of everything you eat. Try diff flavored sf popsicles, yogurt minus the fruit, Protein Shakes, etc.

Would love to hear how all of the other may sleevers are progressing!!! I was sleeves may 1st and I'm down 21 pounds. I think I'm in a stall but that was to be expected . Your turn
