  1. I did 8 days ago and it was phenomenal. I started down the path because I was told I wasn't covered by insurance. 10 days before my surgery date I was then told insurance would cover me in the US. But you now what? I was so comfortable with my decision I went anyway and self paid! I did a number of videos and have been blogging if you're interested. Gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com
  2. Me too exactly! Same date/weight. Awesome.
  3. Congrats to all! Very exciting!
  4. Awesome! I had surgery two days before you good luck with continued success!
  5. Mine said the same thing, starting day 10 I switch to full liquids, which includes being able to mix my Protein powder with low fat or soy milk.
  6. Surgery may 21. 250.5 day of, now 238.3 exactly one week later. Really eyeing 219 since I haven't broken 220 in like 5 years!
  7. First challenge! Surgery date: 5/21 Surgery weight: 250.5 Current weight: 238 Goal: 220 I'm only a week out from surgery, so not sure if it's realistic, but going to give it a go!
  8. 1 c soy milk 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder 1/2 c frozen berries or peaches Tsp almond butter Sometimes I'll add TBSP Omega swirl for an omega kick (in favors like strawberry banana) Yummy
  9. Hey there....only 7 days out and looking at my food intake. I'm getting about 2500mg of sodium a day, almost entirely from the soups I enjoy (blech to the low sodium!). This is around the rda...but certainly seems high compared to my caloric intake of about 400 calories a day. I'd anticipate it getting better when I move to mashies in about 2 weeks but don't want to slow weight loss in the meantime. Thoughts?
  10. My dr gave it to me on the hospital, sp I figure it's fine. I'm only about 7 days out. I drink maybe an ounce or two just for the sweetness of it.
  11. Here was my surgeon's advice (the part about bowling cracked me up)... 4 weeks after you can start yoga 8 weeks after surgery you can start with abdominal crunches push-ups, sit-ups, squats 8 weeks after surgery you can start pilates 12 weeks after surgery you can start aerobics, running and jazzercise www.jazzercise.com 24 weeks after surgery you can start bowling
  12. I use the dots...you just have to sort of swirl them around in your mouth they won't dissolve if you just pop it in.
  13. Crappy! Just one lame day in a lifetime of potential great ones there's always tomorrow!
  14. I'm 7 days out and on clears till 10 days. For the second time I tried unjury unflavored in a cup of warm soup and, man, it went right thru me! No other probs with soups. The only other thing it could have been is that the beef broth I tried with it tonight doesn't agree? But if I'm handling chicken broth fine that seems strange. No probs with my protein shakes mixed with water, including unjury. Anyone else experience this? Trying to deduce if it's the unjury or the soup, lol. Argh.
  15. So, I've started a meetup.com group to try to determine if there are folks interested in meeting up periodically. You can go to http://www.meetup.com/NJ-WLS-Support/. It's free to sign up for a meetup.com account and request to join the group. I've used meetup.com before, and it's a great easy way to post suggestions and details for meetups. We'll see if anything comes of it, but figured it was a place to start!
  16. K...let me give that some thought. I'm working from home this week so will try to put some energy towards a little plan and we can see if anyone's interested
  17. allmyjoy...I'm only 7 days in and amazed at how much my life revolved/revolves around food. Being single and without kids, I've always viewed it as a luxuory having extra time to do whatever I want. But it turns out a lot of that was centered around food I'm feeling like I really need to find a hobby. I used to take classes one or two nights a week through the local adult school (most communities have programs) - I've done painting, dancing, writing, etc. Thinking it may be time to spin that back up. And once I'm cleared for more exercise, maybe a night getting in a group fitness class. SOMETHING to keep me busy so I'm not roaming the pantry like I used to. So weird!
  18. Hey there! I live in central jersey (Princeton). Was sleeved last Monday in Mexico. Anyone interested in a NJ meetup if I planned something?
  19. Every dr is different, but mine said to use water until 10 days out. I'm in "clear liquid" phase for 10 days, then switch to "full liquids" which includes skim/soy milk and thicker Soups. Good luck!
  20. The Vitamin shoppe near me only sells cases of one flavor...but as someone else mentioned, they do sell individual bottles (they're in the refrigerated area). I like alpine punch. Not the best, but tolerable and even if I only drink half it's still a lot of Protein. I'd recommend buying a few diff flavors (incl the apple and the punch), taste them in the car, and go back in for a case if you can stand one
  21. Hey sleeve buddy! I was also sleeved Monday. No real probs. can drink fine, getting in my Protein, etc. sort of also feeling like I wasn't sleeved...other than being sort of bummed out that I can't eat whatever I want I'm supposed to wait until day 10 for Vitamins, so all I'm taking right now is the acid granules my dr gave me. Good luck!
