What Are Your Best Tips For Eating Slowly?
Ha. I was struggling with this...and it super sucks to watch the clock...but I do. I read a whole feed and take a bite...read a whole feed...take a bite...comment on something...take a bite. I check the clock and look at my portion, is this a good pace__then i adjust to slower or sometimes faster because longer than a half hour on a meal is considered grazing! I hope I get used to this. and Dorrie...I feel the same way. My husband has an appetizer and meal in the time im eating my meal. The first time we went to chilis or server abandoned us! He asked for drink orders I said no thank u and my husband got a soda, then he came back and asked for food orders, I ordered a Soup and my husband ordered his appy and meal. Someone else brought our food out and we were never helped again. A half hour after eating I order a drink to go. We left the same tip we would have left had our bill been the normal 60+bucks (it was less than 30 this time) and I left a note, whether someone is ordering ice Water or filet mignon they deserve courtesy--i mean u do work off of tips correct? Assumptions....OFF TOPIC MY BAD

2 Very Different Vsg Philosophies -- What's Yours?
Ive had to attend several pre and post up nutrition CLASSES...actual classes in a huge hospital auditorium with at least 50 to 100 people! BEST THING EVER...so many questions and answers. and although there are protein options for every phase of the diet it was stressed over and over that they rather us EAT our calories and nutrients than to drink it. Protein shakes are recommended as a supplement later, to get closer to the protein requirement.

4 Days Postop-Not Getting Enough Protein
i see my nutritionist and surgeon weekly for first 6 weeks and then im made a custom eating plan and schedule. Protein or supplements are not going to be a topic until 3 months post op and back to a normal eating pattern. I do however use the strawberry sorbet unjury powder in my crystal light lemonade with lots and lots of ice...it tastes soooooo good and i personally feel better about the protein. I also mix greek yogurt with fruity baby foods! GREAT SOURCE of Protein, sometimes 15 to 20g. I try because im so super active and I havent had any days where i feel exhausted and dont really want any. GOOD LUCK to you all!!

Watermelon
My surgeon recommends watermelon. It counts toward your liquid intake and that was the only think with texture i could have first week. Everything else clear liquids...it really satisfied my need to CHEW and not go crazy...I ate very fast the first time, GROSS feeling...but after that ive been able to get a whole lot of it in...slowly!

Day 6Postop, Feeling Amazing
I slept really well last night...actually amazingly well. I even rolled to my side which was a huge accomplishment. I have virtually no pain today. I do want to give a shout out to my sleeve sister phatdiva! She makes this much easier! I am 14lbs down as of this morning...is that great? I'm afraid its one of those water weight things, like the first week u diet u lose lbs and then they are back the next week...is that going to happen? My husband has been eating alll types of wonderful things in front of me, testing my head...ialmost want tocry. Clear liquids suck, I can't wait for full liquids. Although I miss texture I really miss flavors. How are you doing?

The Super-Breakdown At The Superstore
2BonederfulAgain commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weightthis reminds me of my failed attempt at 2 shakes and a meal a day. After a week I was crying "i miss chewing during the day" and I am scared of the post-op diet... I keep telling my husband, Yoli the b***h will be here visiting for a few days I will understand if you want to stay at your brothers house. I hope he can just deal tho...hes a big man however he eats like a little bird unless he is starving from not eating through out the day...he said he is going to try to do the post-op thing with me but with higher intake...lets see how that works.

How Fast Did You Drop Sizes?
I am pre-op but I have started to buy a lot of new things, mainly stretchy spring and summer dresses. Im a dress kinda girl so I currently am in a 20 or 2x and Ive bought some knew lengths that are a 1x and I actually bought 2 cotton dressed that are a reg xl. They have some stretch in them--according to the average most ppl are saying they dropped sizes in 3 mths time so it will still be wearable at that point. You know in the summer you cant find summer clothes--so Im buying early and cheaply! I hit walmart up for tank tops they were 4 bucks I bought a whole crap load in a reg XL, they will fit at some point and when i need them they are there. I have decided not to buy pants or really jeans until I can really try them on and say yup these are it so as I have always worn since hitting a 16 and above I have lycra tights in every color and lots of yoga pants. Ny&Co sells stretchy dress pants so I will get a few of those for work they will still look pretty good loose. If you see something at a great price for the season that you will be in when you anticipate the weight loss I say buy it. In 3 months you can expect some change at least a size or 2 if not more so get yourself some capris and dresses...I go with dresses, if they are still short then throw tights under them and use as a long blouse and if they get big but your not the next size then throw a belt around it, thick high waist or thin low waist to give it a different shape!
