Everyone is different. I lost 25 lbs in the first month. I am 4 weeks out and doing great. But I workout every day and my calorie consumption is between 500-750 daily. I made a huge commitment when I decided to go under the knife, and I intend to follow the rules. I think if you want to lose all your weight, you can and will.

yes, you feel normal again. I did it because I need help keeping the weight off for good, not help just losing it. I have "lost it" many, many times before. What I love about this surgery is that I literaly cannot overeat. It is damn near impossible. I get super full off of very little, and a bad day for me is maybe 1300 calories. I would do it over again. I am 5 months out and over 75 lbs down. The weight comes off slower after the first few months but it still comes off regardless of how hard I try. The harder I try the more I lose. And I feel normal. I went to lunch today and shared an appetizer with a coworker. I drink occasionally, and still go out to clubs. I am going on vacation at the end of this month. My diet doesnt rule me, if anything ruled me before it was my weight. Good luck.

Yeah Skinny Cow are good. Weight Watchers also makes mini cones with 75 calories, or chocolate raspberry pops with 45 calories. Even a sugar free popsicle for 10 calories will sometimes satisfy the craving. I have done diets in the past where I completey banned certain things from my life, and then when I lost weight I craved those things so badly I would go berserk. So now that I am in this I want a lifestyle change that will stick. That includes learning how to deal with sweet treats in a healthy way, and these products have helped me to do this. That and fruit. Love me some mango!!

So I am almost 4 months out and I am feeling good! Just wanted to share a quick before and after with my 70 lb loss. Still have a long ways to go, but you have to Celebrate the small victories. For all of those considering the surgery, good luck. I am super happy thus far!

I read a study that concluded that smokin' the devils lettuce after wls would make you a skinny retard playing video games in your mamas basement not a fat one. Just kidding , but having loads of experience [back in college]why torment yourself with the munchies during the losing phase, maybe that could be a non food reward for meeting goals.I know potheads aren't supposed to have goals just sayin ,if you had goals and that sort of thing was legal where you live.

Well welcome! I was all over this site before my surgery, and I agree, it was a great resource. I still frequent it just to keep my head in the game. And don't worry about missing out on Thanksgiving week one, the LAST thing you will want is food during that first week. You will barely be able to get down liquids. But don't worry, it will normalize and you will be able to enjoy food again in the future just in much smaller portions. Good luck!

Great job! I am 6 months post-op today and down 83 so I think you are killing it! You just have to make yourself do certain things if they are bothering you. The sleeve can't make you drink all of your Water, take your Multivitamins, or eat slower. But try the Gummy multivitamins, that is how I get mine in. Congrats!

111 pounds gone FOREVER! I am 10 pounds passed my original "goal"! I have NEVER felt so amazing & am so in love with the new me!
HOWEVER, there is one VERY BIG problem-- I am now a SHOPAHOLIC hahaha! My hubby has decided to pull the purse strings a little tighter, because I seem to get carried away! This is coming from the girl who HATED, & I mean HATED to shop! I would get anxiety and usually cry in the dressing rooms! There was actually a few times that my husband would come into the dressing rooms to try to encourage me & keep me in good spirits- NOW, he refused to come shopping with me because I fall in love with everything I try on LOL! He says "i'm not needed for moral support anymore" & he is right! AHHH, what a FABULOUS year!

MG in SD got a reaction from MoreganK in Hair Loss After Surgery
It will stop. I started having dramatic Hair loss at 2.5 months post op. I am now 5.5 months out and it is starting to grow back in and hair loss is decreasing. This is exactly what my surgeon said would happen. He said hair loss would start around month 3 and should stop by post op month 6. He said there is absolutely nothing you can take or do to prevent it, but I still tried everything. He said hair loss past 6 months out could indicate a deficiency of sorts, but it doesn't look like I will have to worry about that. It will grow back.

It's not that bad. Sucks right when you wake up, but they give you pain killers and the stuff they have in the hospital rocks. The first day is the worst and each day it improves. I stopped taking anything for pain by day 3. Walk as much as you can, it definitley makes you feel better. It's normal to obsess about this, but you will be fine. Good luck!

MG in SD got a reaction from leahandgracey in 5 Confessions (Join In)
    I confess:
    - I drink alcohol almost every weekend when I go out, even though my Dr. told me to wait a year. I did however, completely give up beer.
    - I started with the caffiene again. Yet this time I am going with tea and one splenda rather than a venti nonfat latte.
    - I had dumping syndrome twice and it was my own damn fault.
    - I sometimes eat badly, i.e I will sneak a halloween candy or eat one slice of pizza
    - My workouts are inconsistent. One week I will go 3-5 times and the next week 0-1
    - I just started dating and I can't decide whether I want to disclose about my surgery up front or leave it a mystery

Sam's carries Pure Protein Bars.. ( 3 flavors ), they are:
    Calories : 200
    Fat: 5g
Total Carb: depending on bar 15-18g ( Sugar 3 g)
    Protein: 20 gr
They taste pretty good ( but not "too" good) So they work pretty good 4 me. I only use them for emergencies. Keep one in purse all the time.

You just need to calm down. You just had surgery!! How could you even say you have failed yet? First, do not weigh yourself everyday. That is a recipe for crazytown! I weigh myself once a week, and as long as I am losing I am happy. I am now close to 5 months out and down 75 lbs, but not every week as been a huge week, and yes there are weeks where I don't lose. Give it a chance, and try to kick the crackers and chips, at least at such an early stage. You will lose if you are eating 800-1000 calories a day. Keep your head up.
