  3. Rootman - So sorry for your loss of your furry companions and friends. Nothing more to say - my heart goes out to you.
  4. as an update on weight loss, from Surgery date 5-22 - I am now down 24 lbs! Yea!!
  5. This is exciting - and I'm only an hour away! I can't wait to go! Thank you!!
  6. Hi to all the May Sleevers - I was sleeved on 5-23 and as of today, I've lost 21 lbs! I just love that my son and hubs can eat pizza and wings, and I do not even want any of it. I love my sleeve!
  7. Hi Joni - How do you update your ticker? I've lost more weight and I can't seem to do an update without deleting the one I have and replacing it with a new ticker? Seems strange to me to do this every day, but I can't fugure it out. Can you help me?
  8. I am so glad you asked this question. I am 8 days out and on the 7th day, I could drink a mouthful of water with no problem. I worried that I was going to do some harm to the new belly, but I have no side effects at all. I really love water and I was so glad to be able to drink again. Now, I am breaking it up with some Nestle Prue Life Splash. It's not as sweet as the Fruit 2 0, and it seems as if it's easier on me, too. I also hold the h20 in my mouth and exhale before I swallow, so I don't get any additional air in the new sleeve.
  9. I had heprin injection into my belly and it was nothing. Hardly even knew it was happening. There's a fat pad there that is the injection site and I didn't know when they started or stopped.
  10. Hi to all - I was sleeved on May 22nd and have lost 17 lbs so far!! Yeah! That includes the 5-day pre-op diet. I didn't feel like weighing myself when i came home from the hospital, or when I went in for the operation, either! I may be scale phobic!
  11. Breakfast - .5 cup cream of rice with 3 T non fat dry milk and .5C non fat milk (10 grams of protein) Lunch - Lemon Oikos Youghurt and 1 C chicken broth with injury unflavored mixed in (35 grams of protein)
  12. I had my surgery on May 22nd. I tried to make sure i didn't have any extra air when i was swallowing. I guess my regular way to swallow used a lot of air and it felt like my chest was ready to explode. Now I take water or broth into my mounth and then exhale and then swallow. After I started this little trick, my chest pain went away. Although, I still stand to drink most fluids. This worked for me and I hope it works for you, too. I'm doing well, and getting in my protein now without a problem. Well, I'm getting close to the 60 to 70 that my dr recommends - yesterday I had 53 grams. But every day gets a bit easier and I hope all the best for you, too.
  13. Hi to all the May 22nders. I did pretty well with the surgery and got out the next day. HOWever, I couldn't drink enough h20 and still had bad gas pains that weds. But, Thusday came and I was rid of all the gas and problems. I've moved on from clear liquids to full liquids and I'll be on those until 2 weeks after the 22nd. Then on to whirred foods for 2 weeks, and then, finally to textures at the end of next month. I feel great, and I'm going back to work on Weds. I've driven my car the last two days and have had no problems at all. I can drink, normally and don't have to do the sip thing - but I do exhale the air out before I swallow. It seems as if swallowing for me the regular way I used to do it - gave me too much air in my new tummy, and that hurt! Now all I need to do is find a good reliable list of how much protein is in everything, so I can accurately chart my intake. Hey, for a 56 year old - this was a pretty great experience.
  14. I am totally nervous. Not sure why - maybe it's because I haven't been eating anything but liquids for the last 5 days! But it's hard to concentrate right now. But super excited anyway!! Can't wait for tomorrow - 9:30 AM!!
  15. tomorrow at 7:30 AM for me - whoot! Can't wait to join the Losers Bench!
  16. My surgery date is this Tuesday, and I could not agree more!! BTW, I LOVE your blog!
  17. I had scallops and pasta with butter for my last dinner. Now the pre-op diet is very hard! But soon I'll join the ranks of the sleeved.
  18. After 2 tries, on the third one I finally got my insurance approval. Getting sleeved Tuesday, the 22nd for sure!! Now, I don't gnaw my own arm off during the pre-op liquids only diet, I'll be fine! So totally excited. Best of luck to all the people getting sleeved on Monday!
  19. wow - do i ever HATE this pre op diet - I'm about ready to chew my arm off!
  20. Denied because my PCP (who is a WONDERFUL Doctor) when she wrote my referral letter didn't say "I recommend bariatric surgery." She's written about 6 letters for this approval and never had one turned down. Now, it's 8 days until my sleeve date and they are trying to deny it. Thank the gods, my surgeons office has been thru this before with cigna!
  21. I got my bento box ready - thanks to egg face!
  22. Cigna just turned me down after a 6 month wait - so they may have cut the wait time, but they will still play hardball with their approvals! I (or my surgery scheduler) re-submit yesterday.
  23. congrats on the weight loss - and I hope the protein challenge gets better every day!
