Sippin Sippin Sippin
I am so glad you asked this question. I am 8 days out and on the 7th day, I could drink a mouthful of water with no problem. I worried that I was going to do some harm to the new belly, but I have no side effects at all. I really love water and I was so glad to be able to drink again. Now, I am breaking it up with some Nestle Prue Life Splash. It's not as sweet as the Fruit 2 0, and it seems as if it's easier on me, too. I also hold the h20 in my mouth and exhale before I swallow, so I don't get any additional air in the new sleeve.

Freaking Out About Lovenox -- Anyone Else Have To Do This? Self-Injections?
I had heprin injection into my belly and it was nothing. Hardly even knew it was happening. There's a fat pad there that is the injection site and I didn't know when they started or stopped.

May Sleeve Buddies!
Hi to all - I was sleeved on May 22nd and have lost 17 lbs so far!! Yeah! That includes the 5-day pre-op diet. I didn't feel like weighing myself when i came home from the hospital, or when I went in for the operation, either! I may be scale phobic!

Post Op 7 Days And Still Have Terrible Pain In Chest.
I had my surgery on May 22nd. I tried to make sure i didn't have any extra air when i was swallowing. I guess my regular way to swallow used a lot of air and it felt like my chest was ready to explode. Now I take water or broth into my mounth and then exhale and then swallow. After I started this little trick, my chest pain went away. Although, I still stand to drink most fluids. This worked for me and I hope it works for you, too. I'm doing well, and getting in my protein now without a problem. Well, I'm getting close to the 60 to 70 that my dr recommends - yesterday I had 53 grams. But every day gets a bit easier and I hope all the best for you, too.

May 22Nd
Hi to all the May 22nders. I did pretty well with the surgery and got out the next day. HOWever, I couldn't drink enough h20 and still had bad gas pains that weds. But, Thusday came and I was rid of all the gas and problems. I've moved on from clear liquids to full liquids and I'll be on those until 2 weeks after the 22nd. Then on to whirred foods for 2 weeks, and then, finally to textures at the end of next month. I feel great, and I'm going back to work on Weds. I've driven my car the last two days and have had no problems at all. I can drink, normally and don't have to do the sip thing - but I do exhale the air out before I swallow. It seems as if swallowing for me the regular way I used to do it - gave me too much air in my new tummy, and that hurt! Now all I need to do is find a good reliable list of how much protein is in everything, so I can accurately chart my intake. Hey, for a 56 year old - this was a pretty great experience.

May 22Nd
I am totally nervous. Not sure why - maybe it's because I haven't been eating anything but liquids for the last 5 days! But it's hard to concentrate right now. But super excited anyway!! Can't wait for tomorrow - 9:30 AM!!

Cigna Revised Policy
Denied because my PCP (who is a WONDERFUL Doctor) when she wrote my referral letter didn't say "I recommend bariatric surgery." She's written about 6 letters for this approval and never had one turned down. Now, it's 8 days until my sleeve date and they are trying to deny it. Thank the gods, my surgeons office has been thru this before with cigna!

Cigna Revised Policy
Cigna just turned me down after a 6 month wait - so they may have cut the wait time, but they will still play hardball with their approvals! I (or my surgery scheduler) re-submit yesterday.
