    Never going to make it

Water with crystal light and hot tea was such a help to me during that time!

I may need to cheat my bloodwork -_-

I second that, if you really want the surgery and have done your research, ready to commit to a new lifestyle, gain six pounds.

    My story--banded for 9.5 years.

I don't have a dog in this fight... But my point is that it's pretty obvious to me that the op is having a really hard time. It's not our job to call her out or talk down to her. It's our job to be supportive. And if we feel we must set her straight or correct some perceived untruths, do it in a respectful way, as several have done. It is not our job to attack her. That's not what she needs and if I was going through the same thing I would hope that I would have a safe place to get it all out, vent, whatever. This is her story, her opinions, her truths of what happened to her.... Respect it. It's not just this thread that I am referring to. This same situation happens far too often.

Yes slaughter house. One reason why I don't post very much! What I would say to those doing the slaughtering, you don't have to defend the band or your choice to get it! Damn it's like some people take anything negative about the band as a personal attack. Not saying everyone who has replied here was a butcher. But if the shoe fits.... It's great that it works so well for a lot of people (myself being one) but whenever someone talks about complications what they need is support! Not belittling. When someone talks about complications I think we all need to sit up and take notice, the band is not THE answer to your weight problems. It is a tool, use it, but don't depend on it alone. Also God forbid any of us ever have complications. Wouldn't it be nice to have a long term banded friend to be able to ask questions? Or at least have read first hand accounts of what complications are like with an open mind?

    Calling all lap band veterans!

Thanks guys! Everything seems to be going better today. Liquids are starting to pass like normal, without it feeling funny so that's a good sign. Try something Mushie tonight and if that goes well maybe fish tomorrow ? I wonder if the ingredients in that margarita were different from what I usually would have. But something about it seemed to haw triggered a whole episode. Stomach acid waking you up is the most awful feeling ever!

    Weighing options

Of course you can do it yourself. But there is no shame in getting help either. You said you gained a lot after your husbands death, just wondering if you have sought advice from a mental health professional? You may have some depression that could benefit from medicine. If you feel that weight loss surgery something that will help you get healthy then do it! You must do your own research to decide that you can make the lifestyle changes that you have to make with lap band. Are you ok with eating very small portions, possibly not being able to eat certain foods, becoming more active. When you think about the worst case, can you deal with those also? Some people dont lose very much weight, have complications. Good luck in whatever you decide! Take care of yourself

Pretty thick, what happens when you have alcohol, if you don't mind me asking. Symptoms like I am describing? Thank you! Me too.

Ok thanks! I knew to do liquids, never thought of Motrin, it is an anti-inflammatory... Makes sense. Trying to avoid going to the doctor, I don't want him to take fluid out! But looks like I'm going to have to. It is improving, but I am concerned because two days later liquids feel funny going down. I've never had problems like this! Nothing outside of pbing. So going two days having this much trouble, eek!

    Calling all lap band veterans!

I've had my band for a little over a year. Had my last fill about three months ago. Have had four total and doc does not tell me how much he puts in. Anyway, Saturday night my family and I went out to eat, I got a sunrise margarita and a Burger sans bun. While I was drinking my margarita I noticed that it was giving me really bad heartburn, so much that I didn't even finish it. After that when I tried to eat some burger I just couldn't, food was just sitting in my pouch and not going anywhere. Tried maybe two bites stopped and took the rest home. When I got home much later I tried again to eat a little same thing, didn't force it just stopped and figured things would go better the next day. Both times food stayed down. Anyway about 2 am that night I woke up tasting stomach acid, ugh. Ever since then food is just not happening, trying to take it easy with liquids and soft. But anytime I put anything into mouth I can feel it just sitting. Wondering from the experienced Banders, did I irritate my band with that margarita and it tightened up as a result? What do you think?

    Accountability

Isn't it funny how now things that we could used to eat make us sick? Tonight I made a big two package cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows, what I would havt had along with cookies or a snack cake pre band. I could t even finish it and was feeling a little bit nausoues. Loving my band!
