This is funny! I am 4 years out (got this done AFTER my husband and I split up) and I haven't been in an intimate relationship yet! So I have NO CLUE how differently I'll feel...but just in general I do feel much more womanly and sexy! Can't wait to meet my future husband!

I was banded 9 months ago today, and was at my all time high of 306 when I started my preop diet. I'm so happy to say that I'm finally in onderland - 199! No one is gonna burst my bubble today. I still have a long way to go - I'm proud to have come this far. And I've dine it with little to no restriction! Got a fill last night, and it seems like this one has finally made a difference for me. It's too soon to be sure, here's Hoping!

Passionatehrt reacted to kmt1973 in Sex Is Great
A few years ago I lost over 60lbs. My sex drive increased, but my mans didn't. And he said something to me when I was all hurt about it....he said, "you are no more beautiful to me now, than you've always been." That made me feel so so so much better. He also told me recently while I'm waiting on approval for wls..."after you have surgery, I might have to leave for a week here & there, cause you are going to kill me. (apparently, he's remembering back) So don't be too hurt that he can't keep up, your feelings are changing, his are still the same. And that might not be a bad thing.

Don't you think you ladies are the only ones with boob problems. Mine have gone from "chubby pecs" to almost flapjacks.

Passionatehrt reacted to 1shauna1 in Weight Loss Without Exercise?
For sure it's possible! However, results may be different in that you may have more loose skin. Of course, I believe that depends on your age too, and how long you've been overweight as your skin loses elasticity over time. I haven't been exercising but I know in combination with eating right it would make losses faster. I just feel like I have no time in my life to spend it doing something I don't really enjoy! I'd rather just take the dog for a walk (but she's a dawdler so I can't really count it as exercise, lol).

Passionatehrt reacted to says_simon in Being Vegan Isn't Working Out
I stopped feeling sorry for myself long enough to do a simple search on Amazon. There is a vegan Protein concoction with very good reviews called Lifetime Plant Protein. It has 22 grams of protein and other good stuff. That, combined with my homemade chili, tabbouleh and a Kind bar, will give me a much better protein number. I should start feeling much better soon.

I find it very hard to get all my Fiber in, even with supplements when I avoid cereal.... to get all my fiber in... here is what I do....
chewable Fiber supplements.... 2 tablets = 4g of fiber... I take it 3 times per day for a total of 12g of fiber
Start my day out with Go Lean Cereal (not the Go Lean Crunch).... it has 13g of Protein and 10g fiber for a total of 22g of fiber when combined with the above supplements....
Then I drink 1-2 South Beach Tide Me Over's in my water.... they each provide 5g of fiber... I try to get two in per day... that brings my total fiber up to 32g per day....
That doesn't include my veggies that I eat as well.... usually spinach sometime during the day.... So I estimate that I am at about 40g of fiber per day... which is ideal.... it just takes being aware of what you eat.... all of the fiber I take in is totally enjoyable and a mix of soluable and insoluable which is necessary as well. It's hard, but you just have to understand what you need and how to get it and make it a habit....
Also.... just from drinking the South Beach Tide Me Over's.... I put a packet in 32 ounces of Water as less than that is too sweet.... I get in 64oz of water just from that...... I try to hit 100oz though everyday. It's all hard, just be aware..... the protein of 70-90g per day seems pretty easy.... I just make sure what I eat has good amounts of protein.... the Go Lean is a good start with 13g.... then I eat a lot of tuna fish or canned turkey/chicken (they contain TONS of protein)... then a chunk of meat for dinner....
Hope this all helps... I love reading other people's ideas too!

SMA,
I do have some foods that seem to satiate me longer. And, that would be a good topic or string for a day.
You have to understand, I'm only 5 months into this journey, so for me, it's like I'm still in the dark trying to feel my way around this tool in my body. I'm still learning.
Salmon, meatloaf, thin sliced white meat chicken, tuna, sliced ham, low fat cheese sticks, 100 calorie bread thins w/cheese/egg, salads, cheeseburger sliders, stir fry veggies w/chicken.
I try to use low fat ingredients in all that I cook and eat. I also peel away much of the excess breads on sandwiches and breaded foods. Good question and I plan on asking the same questions later today to start a new string. I'm curious about what other bandsters consume?

I'm also doing low carbs.. I do eat some fruit. Mostly strawberries and watermelon right now.. I only eat 1/4 cup of strawberries and 1/2 cup of watermelon.. I have not eating any bread, Pasta, rice, crackers, sugars, of any kind since Jan.. It's totally worked for me.. I just eat Protein, veggies and very limited fruit..
I feel good, I have also noticed that I am not bloated with a very low carb diet.. I don't know it that gluten or what, but I do feel so much better eating a low carb diet then when I eat carbs.. Not to say I don't miss it, because I do, but I just look at it as I'm allergic and it seems to take away the need for it..

Passionatehrt reacted to Jean McMillan in Pb
A PB is a productive burp, or regurgitation of the food you just ate. It's not the same as vomiting because it's not associated with a feeling of nausea and it rarely comes from the stomach so doesn't have the bile content and taste of vomit. A PB usually comes from the esophagus, which is quick to object when it's overloaded with food.
PB's can be avoided by practicing careful band eating skills: take tiny bites, chew very well, eat slowly, don't drink while you eat, etc.

Passionatehrt reacted to Nikki Riviotta in Calories
I found this earlier today when I was trying to find out how many calories my body burns daily by itself. It may help you.
Use the formula below which only applies to adult females:
655 + (4.3 x weight in lbs) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age) = ____ calories
Fill in your weight, height and age. This number will be your daily calorie intake (or how many calories your body needs) without any exercise. This calculation will tell you how many calories your body needs-or how much it 'burns.'
Example: A woman who is 25 weighs 140lbs, and is 70 inches tall.
655 + (4.3 x 140lbs) + (4.7 x 70 inches) - (4.7 x 25) = 1469 calories
This woman would only need 1469 calories a day for her body to function at rest. Be sure to type this calculation into your calculator all at once, or else you might be getting answers close 9000 which is incorrect. To make sure you calculate your BMR correctly, try typing in the example above and see if you get the right answer.
I know for me to maintain my weight I would need consume at least 1700 calories a day. So I knocked myself down to 1200-1400 per day and I exercise for at least 20 min for cardio 3xs per week and 2xs a week strength training for at least 30-45 min. making sure that I at least burn 200 calories while working out. I have been doing this since my last appointment on April 10th and have lost 7 pounds after a very long plataue.

Passionatehrt reacted to 1shauna1 in Food And Portion Size
Wow, you're doing great! I was never told I couldn't eat anything; in fact I was told I COULD eat everything, just smaller portions (however, I can't, lol). So, don't worry about it. Sounds like you'll be able to eat almost anything you want and you've really learned how to keep your portions in check.

I'm going today to get some of those Protein shots! I cannot handle the shakes anymore! I don't want to vomit! Today is day no.7. I need to get my protein in. Might go get some barbaric advantage Vitamins so I don't have to take Flinstones twice a day. My 6 year old son is getting upset that I'm taking his vitamins, hehehe.

Passionatehrt reacted to NWgirl in Help Lol
I was told to find how much Protein you need per day, do body weight x 0.3=grams of protein.
To the original poster, what are you eating now on a daily basis? Breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Do you exercise?
I try to have some weight control oatmeal with some milk for Breakfast, 1/2 salad wrap and cottage cheese for lunch, and the remaining 1/2 wrap for dinner. I do switch it up now and then, but try and keep my calories between 1200-1400 per day. I like to try and find unprocessed foods and veggies for meals. I also don't drink sodas or other calorie laden drinks.
