Yes, insurance companies underwrite policies specifically to meet the employers needs. Most self insured plans do not cover bariatric. In my case my employer has an exclusion on my plan and there is no way around it so off to Mexico I go!!!

Last time I flew the security checked my babies bottles, and all my shampoos! Make sure you alot enogh time if you are held up in security due to the broth! I'm considering doing what you are with the baggy! My lay over is in Atlanta and I don't recall seeing broth in any of the restaurants so I'm concerned and feel I may need to bring my own. Can anyone else advise how they did this. I live in jax so it's only a 3.5 hr flight with one stop!

I can't say enough about my primary doctor. He is so special to me. When i started my research over 6 months ago I told him about going to mx. Hes from columbia and said he would go in a heart beat! He was so excited for me. He knows how bad my back is, blood pressure, fatigue, and that if I dont do this I'm looking at back surgeries! Not one but a few. This is me taking control of what I can. He did my preop eval today and even wrote a letter to Dr. Ponce in Spanish! I can't tell you how releived I was today that I have the support of my wonderful primary. He agreed to do all post op as his background is in surgery. Whew what good news! He hugged me and added me to his prayer list. Said he will see me again because the big man is in charge and he knows I'm in good hands! I will sleep well. Good night all

Yeah i get car sick, and I don't do well on anesthesia so I know te less of a drive the better! I keep thinking the flight home will be so miserable. I sure hope I sleep through it. I want to get some preop testing here with my pcp before leaving for mx just to ensure I'm safe and ready for surgery. My main concern is dvt and blood clots/pulmonary embolisms. Ive never been at risk but it's still possible.

Lissa, so the dr.s found something in your preop test that was suspicious for dvt or blood clots. Do you know what test they found this in?
