Im wondering where everyone is at a month out food wise. What are you eating daily? What are your calories? how do you feel?

Wow I didnt realize there were so many jax sleevers. Im in jax but was sleeved in Mexico last month. Do any of you go to support groups? I would like to attend if you guys can refer me to some. I was trying to find one and a nutritionalist here in jax that would see me.

Depends on your stay... You will need slippers because you will be doing a lot of walking! Bath stuff, gas x strips, heating lad, magazines, book, phone charger... Think that's about it. I slept most of my post op. If I wasn't walking I was sleeping.

How many calories are you getting? What are you eating at this stage?

Every place we went in tj took us dollars. They will help you figure the pesos which changes daily. Everyone was so honest! We went to the 7 eleven, shopping, my fiancé ate at dominios, taco stands, hospital, hotel, and all had American money! It's so close to the us it's almost second nature for all mexicans. And I was impressed with all that spoke englih. Don't take independent cabs, and don't go out after dark.

I told most of my family, and most coworkers. At first I wanted to keep it to a few but honestly when I start loosing they will wonder and ask and I don't feel right lying so I just put it all on the table! Don't care what they think. So far all have been supportive and happy that it was a success. Even checking on my with my complication in the hospital! Not one negative comment!

I agree Nj Sharron... If you dont eat your body will think its in starvation mode and your body will stop losing. As long as you eat low carb high protein you should never have to worry about gaining. Good luck and rem

My fiancés mom and sister who I will say is down right rude and nasty about everything made a couple comments and I straightened them out right away! His sister who is obese by at least 40 lbs.. 4'11.... Said " when I gain weight I take my ass to the gym". Lol apparently the doors were closed because she will soon be getting my handle Downs! Ha His mom said "you know you will gain it back".... My response... " unless you have researched this for longer than me then only speak what you knOW and last I remembered you were no psychic. I think ignorance is bliss. Some people have no idea the level Of their ignorance!

Yes, I also went to Mexico. I had my primary do my EKG, labs, dvt testing, and I work for gastroenterologist and had an endoscopy as well. My dr is now my post op Bariatric dr. He is wonderful. I have had the worst reflux and indigestion and am now on two meds. I hear it's suppose to resolve after 6 months! If your surgeon is in mexico I still highly recommend you obtain a gastroenterologist locally where you live. There is alot they can help with.

Yes i would pack my lunch before you even serve! You do all the cooking and put tender love and care into their meals. The least you should do is pack your own. I would put a sticky on it that said " do not touch or you will have sandwiches for a month"!!! Lol

My drain was very sore. It took three tugs and all three took my breath away. Not do much pain but what a relief to have it out!!

I did not have a bm until day 7 post op... I was in the hospital on iv antibiotics for an infection and the nurse was getting worried.... Day 7 I thought as usual it was the famous gas and let it go... All over my bed! Felt so bad I apologized to the nurse! She laughed and came in so excited! They were waiting on that!!! I never thought I would see a nurse to happy to clean me and my bed up! Lol

Rainy, you are so right! Not once did he ask them about their eating habits. You can sit around eating bon bons, take s pill an be thin in a few months. As much as I would like to be and as much as I know from experience! Lol it just broke my heart. I would love to share my surgery experience as not so good as it has been just to help her one day smile!

Watched a pre recorded show on Dr. Oz and it was about fatty stomachs and how to get rid of it. One was keto 7 and the other for bloating was caraway seeds. This lady was crying and it reminded me of how I felt and still feel about my weight. I felt so bad for her and it just reassured me that I made the right choice! Hat was me 14 days ago!!! I will check on these natural Pills later in my journey.

It's not everything...depends on my day. Eggs, and grits all 4 bites came up i took about 10 mins to eat those 4 bites but I either couldn't handle it or I ate to fast. Same with protein shake that morning. I may have taken a few sips faster than i should so it was either me sippin to fast or the shake itself. I know it's Trial and error.

I was moved to purreds day 11. It's been A Lot Of trial and error. Most foods I tried came back up. Either the food or me eating to fast. This is a major challenge for me. Good luck!

I read some where that it should take me 5 mins to one ounce of food. Is this true for most of you. My food, water, mess, etc come back up frequently and I wonder if it's self inflicted with how quick I'm drinking or eating. I try to take my time and feel I'm going slow.

The first 4 days were the most painful. I had complications so I'm still nursing one incision that's wide open. Im two weeks out and would be in zero pain if it wasn't for my open wound, all my other incisions are healed and just a tiny bit tender. Hang on, you will get releif!
