I am a year out on my sleeve. This whole time I have been having problems with Hair loss like most weight loss surgery patients, but my mom had seen a commercial for this Shampoo from garnier and told me about it. It is call fall fight. I have been using it for about a month now and i can tell a big difference. It has Biotin in it and you massage it into your scalp, my comb does not have as much hair in it as before. I have been wanting to share this so others can check it out. Hope this is helpful to everyone.

I totally agree. I bought the big bottle of BA chewable vitamins and finally tossed them. Yuck. I switched to adult Gummy Multivitamins until I could tolerate the OTC recommended Vitamins by 21st Century.
This is what I started taking about two months after surgery:
    Morning:
Mega Multi for Women by 21st Century
    Vitamin D - 2000 IU
    Vitamin B12 - 500 mcg
    Calcium Citrate with D
    Biotin - 5000 mcg
    Dinner:
Mega Multi for Women by 21st Century
    Iron (Ferrous sulfate)
    Bedtime:
    calcium citrate with D
    Magnesium 300-500 mg

it depends on your plan, really. I have to stay low carb but my NUT is ok with fruit as long as I am meeting my Protein goals. if you find yourself eating a lot of fruit and not losing, then maybe you can reassess. but really, none of us got fat eating too much fruit! LOL

I felt that way too!! don't worry, you are not alone. I still have moments when I feel alone in this journey. My husband can eat everything in sight and not gained a pound. We met as teenagers. He still wears shirts from when we first met. He has been real supportive. But he has no clue what it means to struggle with weight loss/gain.
I was driving and all of the sudden I just thought "what if this does not work?" I lost it!!! pulled over and cried for minutes. I had other episodes of self doubt and fear. Fear of failing, not making it, complications ect. But I went through a lot to get ready for the surgery ( doctor's appointments, labs, tests, seminars, getting my money ready) I was not about to walk away from it. I felt comfortable with my surgeon and the education that I received so I pushed forward.
After surgery I had moments when the old fears will surfaced and shake me to the core. But I am so glad I went through with it.

I'm definitely feeling it too! I find the warm liquids dont cause the same reaction as cool ones. It has gotten better though, happening less and less every day. If it does happen, I tilt my head back and it goes away super quick.
Hang in there, in just a matter of days, we will start to feel much better I hope!

I totally agree--I love to see people's progress. I try not to compare them to mine because everyone is different and everyone will lose weight at different rates. Body type, height, starting weight, etc. plays a big part in weight loss. But it's hard not to be a little disappointed when I see someone losing faster than me. I'd still rather see people's progress than not though.

Hi, I am 7 months out from surgery, I had a stall at 3 weeks that lasted almost 4 weeks, another at 3 months that lasted 3 weeks and just finished another at 6 months that lasted 3 weeks. I continued to lose inches according to my friends, but the weight comes off slow and I typically see those big stalls, which my Dr told me are normal for 3, 6 and 9 months. It feels discouraging the first time around, but believe me, it will come off if you keep doing what is right. Good luck.

I love bacon...like seriously love it. I know it has a lot of fat and a lot of calories but if I had to make a choice of all the cake, candy and ice cream and Cookies I want or a few pieces of bacon, I'd pick the bacon every single time
Tomato Soup and BLT's were staples growing up in Chicago as a child.
I am a big fan of lettuce wraps, though I am only 7 weeks out and am going to wait a little while longer on lettuce. I definitely miss salads a lot too.
Yesterday I tried some crab sticks diced with celery & onion and low fat mayo with a slice of tomato on the side it went down very heavy. I am still not quite ready for solid food I guess.
I was told no Tomato Soup because of acidity during the liquid phase and tomato Soup with added shrimp was something I ate regularly pre-op and I was losing 10 pounds a month back then.
I am thinking of having tomato soup (made with skim milk) and my added shrimp today for the first time. I think the carbs are a bit high, but as long as I stay below 30 carbs a day, I'll be fine. I've already done the gazelle 45 minutes and swam Water walked, jogged and lifted weights 1-1/2 hours so far today. I suppose I can add another walk to my day to allow the tomato soup in.
Thanks for reminding me that down the road, bacon will be doable in small amounts.

I am 3 1/2 months out and I still can not get the hang of the meal plans. I seem to sway back to my old ways, only in smaller amounts. I have lost weight but I feel like I could lose more. This has really been bothering me. Today I was craving potato chips and french onion dip. I couldn't give into my craving because we had not chips but one of the girls here gave me some rice cakes and I dipped 2 in the dip just to satisfy my craving and now I feel so guilty about that. I just feel like I have been on the wrong track since day 1 and I do not know how to get back on. I am just looking for some suggestions of meal plans. Take into count I am on prednisone and have been for over a year so I am afraid that might be part of it but have not confirmed that with my doctor. Any help would be great, sorry to lay it all on here.

I am glad you found us, Welcome. I too have a severe addiction to carbs. Still working on it actually. I am in my early 30s and had diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease and the overall feeling of just sluggishness. I have since gotten off my diabetes meds, halved my blood pressure pills, kidney disease is getting better and I have a lot of energy. It is so worth it!!!!!!!!

I left the hospital the day after surgery and went out for a walk around the block that evening. Slow, to be sure, but made it all the way and felt I could have done more. The next day, I went to the exercise room and began my treadmill routine. 20 minutes at 2 mph at first, then 30 at 2, etc, until I got up to 60 minutes at 2, then 30 minutes at 3, 40 minutes at 3 and again up till 60 minutes. After that, I increased speed every so often when I felt I was ready. Now, 10 weeks after surgery, I am up to 4 miles at 3.5 mph, which takes me about an hour and 9 minutes. I haven't had a stall yet and I'm down 59 lbs. Ya gotta exercise. It's kinda like banging your head up against the wall cause you feel so good when you stop.

I am 2 months out and have lost 51 lbs. I chose the sleeve because of what most people said in here, I did not want my intestines re-routed. However there are people in my local support group that have the Rue N Y and have done great. My advise, like many others, do what you want to do, not your doctor. If you want the sleeve, do it. My experience in the healthcare business, in regards to why they are pushing it, is maybe the payout is bigger. I hate to be that way but I have seen it. Good luck!!!!!!

If food was a person, this is what I'd say.... (reminds me of the old country song Oh Whiskey, if you were a woman)
    Dear food,
I'm Six days postop and wow... I never realized how much I depended on you for everything! I've discovered I counted on you to be my lover, my best friend, confidant, my everything. You were never meant for that! You were only meant for how I'm using you now - to sustain life and energy. Our divorce was final May 17th (surgery day) and there's no going back. I won't lie - I miss you, but this too shall pass. I feel incredibly guilty for allowing something so insignificant to control my life for so long... and still called myself a Christian. You will never take first place in my life again. This grieving process isn't easy, but it's necessary. You betrayed me... with my permission. No more. I am in control of you - in Jesus' name!
    Sincerely,
    Shell
