Oooo.. He was doing it before? Is he plus size too? Sometimes when you eat to fast you can't enjoy the food. Is he waiting until he is starving to eat? Either way he still needs to respect you when you guys eat. That's just rude.

Honestly I would have flipped. The story with the trash in your food is kind of crazy! In his mind he probably is thinking you are full or soon to be so he just put his stuff in there. He really was thinking at the moment. If he does it again then I don't know what to tell you. I'd just say, stand your ground, and ask for consideration. In general regardless if I'm done or the person is done first at the table, we start getting ready to leave together.

I know my mom will be such a hattttter! When I was smaller she gave me no words of encouragement. Occasionally she would say "that top looks nice," but it was almost like she didn't want to. She has issues with emotions. I was looking pretty good. God help her once I get down to that weight, minus sixty more, plus I'm cute.. Good grief. Sorry, just had to toot my own horn for a second.

Congrats all. I do notice people include pre-op weight sometimes. I know for me I will count from the day of surgery, but I do understand that some people lost some weight pre-op, but for me telling how much I way from day of is easier. To me any weight loss even if it's slow or not it's good still. I think everyone wants to lose it fast, but patience patience patience. I will be telling myself the same thing because I have noooooo patience!!

I'm a little over 4 months out, and I've lost about 50-53 (it fluctuates) pounds since surgery. I feel like I'm a slow loser compared to a lot of people, but I can't always tell because when they say how much weight they lose, they include their pre-op weight loss! I only count post-op weight loss so when I see people say something like "down 75 pounds!" and then I see they had their surgery AFTER me, I'm not sure if they're including pre-op weight loss as well, which a lot do.
I exercise about 3-4 times a week. I need need need to be more consistent but with work and school, I find it difficult. I work out at my college's gym and try to do it in between classes Monday through Thursday. I usually go on the bike 5-7 miles depending on how tired I am. I also do some weight exercises, specifically ones that target my upper arms since you can pretty much call me Batgirl because of them. My friend and I also walk around the lake at the university campus every weekend, weather permitting. It takes about 45 minutes to walk around and we do it twice. I'm guessing it's about a 3.5-4 mile walk.

Theres a plus size section on a bike forum. I believe the site is bikeforum.net. Google it. There's a section with a horse name to it, I forgot, but they have info for people that are bigger and want great bike recommendations. Also google :Bikes for bigger people. I believe the cheapest I've seen was about 500 that was made to fit someone over 300 lbs.

I agree that trying to quit two addictions at the same time is not advisable, but it is not like we decide to have the surgery and go in the next day and have it done.
As an ex-smoker, I know it is difficult to quit. I stumbled more than once. IMO, the day you make the decision to have the surgery is the day you have decided to change your life to a healthier direction. That is the day to begin the process of quitting smoking.
I'm guessing we have all kidded ourselves with our eating issues but there comes a times when we say enough is enough. If you really think smoking is OK and not a negative thing while you are healing from major surgery, then ... God bless you and good luck.

I have plenty of empathy. I also know that coddling and agreeing with every bad feeling never solved anything. Logical thinking is not a bad thing. Warm fuzzies aren't very effective in most cases.
I also know that people will do what they are going to do. But if they come online and ask a question, I am going to assume they are logical and really want an answer. I know, silly me.
I hope you remember what it is like to be in a smoker's shoes too. What that has to do with whether or not smoking against doctor's orders during recovery, I am not sure.

There is also a newer procedure I'm that they go down your throat and "tighten up"(make smaller) the pouch that you get from bypass, I would think this would be a very simple outpatient surgery, and a more viable option than the lap band. It is perplexing to think that with her money, she would be able to put herself in better hands, that would give her more sensible answers

Hey ladies, and gents, can any ladies that started near my stats give me your stats? I'm 5'6 currently 280, hoping to be 260 by surgery (July.) So anyone from 260-280 can you tell me how much you have lost, your goal size, your current size and how many months out you are. If you have before an after photos that would be nice too. Also can you tell me about your excess skin? Thanks.

I plan on buying stuff in advance a little here a little there. All of my clothes are up to a size 14, so depending on how the pounds are falling by size 16 I will buy some cute L/XL tops from hot topic. By next year I should be there.

Kiki Von Moonshine reacted to Aussiegirl in Did You Buy Goal Clothes, If So What Did You Buy, And When Did You Buy?
I have bought a number of diffferent goal pieces, each at different sizes.
Each size I go down is a goal, so I have something to work into.
The first one was a little black dress, which now fits and is a bit loose. The next is a cream suede jacket (which I saw in the store and could not leave without it). They are my motivation to keep going.
I had a goal size, which in some pants I am actually already in, my top half is way bigger than my bottoms, so have no idea what my end size will be.
So now I Celebrate the removal of a specific size from my wardrobe and work to the next goal item.

Kiki Von Moonshine reacted to ILKrista in Did You Buy Goal Clothes, If So What Did You Buy, And When Did You Buy?
I bought a goal little black dress right after I had my surgery. It was a size 8 (I started as a size 26 and even as a fifth grader I was a 14), so it seemed like the biggest dream goal ever. I wore it for Valentines day, almost a year after my surgery. It may be the only time I ever wear it since I really don't have a lot of places to wear that type of dress, and I'm still losing, so I'm not sure it will be my final size. But for me, the cost ($40) was worth it for that moment of putting it on and seeing it finally fit. I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a goal outfit... just don't go crazy and buy a goal wardrobe. lol.

Yes! Great comparison... in fact both my kids, now aged 11 and 13 both eat a lot more than I do at meal times - we're old fashioned here and all eat our meals, at the table together...lol! They used to comment on how little I ate, but now it is just me being 'normal'! Using a smaller plate is a great way to guage food too, if you haven't got a scales in front of you.

I used to weigh absolutely every morsel, for about the first year. After doing it so much I became quite good at eyeballing my portions until now, I can cut a piece of something, judge it as say, 3 ounces, put it on the scale and it will be spot on. Basically I can handle about a cup of anything, and about 3/4's of the way into it I will stop, wait 15 minutes, and finish it off. Depending on my sleeve's mood that day I could eat again in 2 hours or be done for the rest of the day. I must say, my sleeve has some capricious moods, one day I can chug along steadily eating every three hours, and others I have to force myself to put something in my mouth at least once.
