I've started a page on my blog that consolidates all my fave recipes. Maybe worth a skim to see if anything catches your eye? Almost all of the recipes have pics and nutritional info if you're curious. http://gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com/p/solid-food-stage.html

I know this question is a little out of the ordinary, but here goes
I had my surgery on August 13th,
So far everything has beed great.
I am eating and drinking and have already lost 25 pounds post op and 14 pre (from 6/25)
My problem is that I have notice that it has been more difficult to read small print and even some larger print if the lighting is not just right.
I have an appointment at the eye doctor tomorow (it is well overdue my last one was 3 years ago)
I was just wondering if this could be related to the surgergy.
Maybe it is something with my blood chemistry or lack of Vitamins,
Has anyone had or heard of anyone having this problem.
    Thanks

Hey phat diva! Im using syntha 6 the chocolate which when I was on pre op, I had to do a double check on the label. It taste just like quick! I find it a bit too sweet now though, must be my taste changing! As far as a goal weight, I cant really wrap my head around a weight, as it seemed so impposible before. I remember saying my goal was 400lbs, which I almost hit pre op. Then I went to 300, now Im guessing 280. That might be still too high but I guess the notion of me saying 220 or even 250 is so insane!

    i don’t think I have 10 but I have 1 or 2

that I can’t drink much! Like its such a chore to drink Water is still not good and I really kinda hate drinking tea, it feels nice but I never was much of a tea drinker so drinking 4 cups a day really annoys me would much rather a ice filled drink even if it was Water but I just can’t handle lots of it even when I force myself it takes me hours and hours to try and drink 1 pint of room temp/cold/ice cold anything.

Yeah I think drinking is my biggest pet peeve I don’t really have others not being able to even do 4oz at a time doesn’t even bother some pain doesn’t bother me any more not being able to just chug down a drink really bugs me!
Its warm I am always dry mouthed and just want to chug something other than Decaf tea and it be ok!

Many of your issues mirror my own.
    1) I miss Pasta terribly....I have dreams about it. Truely. And bread. Neither of which I have any tolerance for.
    2) My breasts look TERRIBLE. I'm back to turning off the lights for "adult time" because I'm so embarrassed!
    3) My hair continues to fall out in huge, noticible clumps. Patients at work comment that I must be "shedding", because no matter how dilligent I am, I always have stray hairs all over my scrubs, my back, etc.
    4) I REALLY despise when people ask how many lbs I have lost....if I tell them an actual number, I can see the mental calculations taking place. I've had a coworker comment that I was lying about the amount. If I tell people "some amount", they keep pressing. I admit, I've become a bit bitter and have inelegantly snapped back, "You never told me - are you a nazi or a communist these days? Because that's about how offensive your question was to me".
5)It has reduced my already miniscule social life - I never get invited out now, because "we know you can't drink, and it wouldn't be fun for you"....BS.
    6) I sag everywhere....like a candle left out in the summer sun. I knew that there would be some loose skin, but I wasn't prepared for this.
    And last...
7)I hate the running commentary from those who know about my surgery, and feel the need to contribute their opinion as to the morality of an operation that has already taken place. "It goes against God's design!".....well, guess what, buster! Surgery already happened. So unless you have a time machine, feel free to put a sock in it. Or two.
    /endrant
That being said, I would never have reached this weight alone. And for that, I am greatful.

You may feel an intense craving for mac & cheese, but if you were to try this (assuming you're healed enough to tolerate it and your medical team has signed off), you may find you don't actually like it!
Many people who have had VSG surgery find they don't tolerate Pasta well at all post-op (same with bread........).
In addition, if you're following your post-op diet closely (you should be, to make the most of this fresh start at a healthier food life!), you'll note that our focus is to eat Protein first, vegetables next (if you have room) and carbs as a last resort. Mac & cheese is very nearly 100% carbs (the cheese is negligible, especially if it's boxed mac & cheese that uses processed cheese powder and not real cheese). So your nutritional value is very low, carbs are very high (usually an impediment to weight loss) and may make you feel unwell, bloated, nauseous and generally unwell!
So my recommendation is to try a bite or two from a friend (don't cook it at home....you'll be left with a pot/pan of it left that you can't eat!) and see how it sits. I'm nearly certain it won't give you the happy contented memories you remember.....

I had the same feelings but you have to resist. Just keep reminding yourself you consented to have 85% of your stomach removed and thrown in the trash! This always keeps me on point. Then I look at my 4 little scars.

I always thought sliming was when you produced excessive amounts of very thick saliva (the body trying to lubricate & digest the food you just ate) resulting in a mucusy saliva (slime) being forced back up.

My BIGGEST fear when going out to eat was always making sure they have tables available. I'm never able to fit into a booth. UNTIL NOW!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
We went to our favorite diner and the waitress seated us, and took us to a booth. My hubby just looked at me, knowing that I always ask for a table. This time I just nodded and said 'this is fine' and I literally just slipped right in!!!! Such a stupid thing but I felt amazing. It was so cozy and my hubby and I giggled the entire dinner how exciting it was that we both fit in a booth! (he never fit either, he's sleeved too!) love my sleeve. Love my nsv's. Love everything now. <3

I am 10 weeks and it happens to me. It sounds loud but I don't think others can hear it. LOL It happens when I drink to fast or have something that upsets my sleeve. I at some spicy tuna last night and roxie (my sleeve) was pissed off and I thought an alien would come flying out of my throat. LOL

Honestly I did it once when I was on my pureed stage. Everyone was eating baked ziti and chicken. I chewed both didn't swallow and spit it out. It gave me the flavor and I was okay. I was craving chewing badly and although it may sound gross to some I don't think it is or will lead to a eating disorder. I mean heck most of us already have some type of eating disorder.
My adice is if you do it don't make a habit out of it. Your tummy is still fraigle and needs to heal properly.
    Hugs

They actually replace bread when prepared like this. According to my label, one won ton wrapper has 17 calories and only 3 carbs. Way lower than bread. Since you can't eat that much, they don't overfill you up like bread would.
