  1. Wow, my doctor requires would-be patients to agree to an open surgery IF for any reason, including large liver, they can't do it laproscopically. What an unfortunate suprise for you. If you really want this, I'm sure you'll manage the 20 lbs though I know it will be hard. Good luck. I feel for you.
  2. I'm finding that a protein drink helps alieve the hunger pains some. I also have been eating the occasional cheese stick as my pre-op diet is high-protein, low-carb for 12 days, then 2 days clear liquids.
  3. Mine is a little different. 2 days clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week puree and 2 weeks soft foods, then reintroduce regular foods one at a time
  4. Glad you were able to get everything straightened out. Good luck on your upcoming surgery, whenever it is!
  5. I, too, have BCBS federal and got approved in less than 24 hours. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday, the 11th. Is there some reason, other than misinterpretation of the insurance policy, that your doctor wants you to have bypass over sleeve?
  6. My two weeks pre-op are just to eat lots of protein and low carb. Two days of liquids only.
  7. Wishing you both good luck and speedy healing.
  8. Good luck and congrats on your upcoming surgery!
  9. Okay, it's not quite as good as a surgery date but my WLS coordinator said my paperwork is finally complete. Yay! Tomorrow I get scheduled for my final surgeon consult.
  10. Well, lucky me I guess. I just met the 5 grand oop so I no longer have to worry about my co-pay for WLS. Thank goodness I have an FSA.
  11. Great job pdx man! You're an inspiration.
  12. My preop diet is high protein, low carb for twelve days then clear liquids for two. Shakes not required unless BMI over 50.
  13. Congrats on your positive attitude. And good luck on your continued weight loss.
  14. I know, I can hear the comments already but I am frustrated with the wait for my paperwork to be received by my WLS doctor. I had to have a stress test-14 June , then wait while the doc went on vacation-10 July, and now wait on them to finish the paperwork and mail to my WLS doc! I'm calling the WLS coordinator again on Tuesday with the fervent hope that all paperwork is received and I can be scheduled for my final consult with the surgeon. It will be a miracle if I can have my WLS in August. Sigh.
  15. Thanks storm warning. You make a good argument.
  16. Good luck to you. I admire your determination
  17. I'm 5'4" and have a BMI of 41. My surgery will hopefully be in late August.
  18. Wishing you the best possible outcome. Hugs to you and your little one.
  19. You'll be fine. Sending best wishes and positive prayers your way.
  20. Good luck to everyone getting their sleeve this week!
  21. Your Tina-isms are great! Thanks for the insight and the enthusiasm.
