  1. Definetly talk to your doctor, aspirine and ibuprofen are what they call NSAIDs, aspirin attaches irreversibly (cannot be detached so you have to wait to make new ones and it takes about a week) to platelets which are what causes clotting to form and many other things that keep you from bleeding to death. Other NSAID such as ibuprofen have similar mechanisms but are reversible. Tylenol is completely different is not classified as an NSAID and has little to non anti-inflammatory properties, but it helps with pain. It's why many surgeons feel very comfortable with Tylenol use but not with NSAIDs specially aspirin. Make sure you ask your surgeon and explain how much pain you are in. Heat is definetly great but what is referred to as contrast teraphy is better (I am a licensed massage therapist and can tell you that from that) and that involves 20 minutes of heat then 20 minutes of ice, and so on, as often as you can. Try not to do more than 20 minutes each because you can also cause more harm than good. Epsom salt baths is also something I recommend my patients. (I am also in med school but because I am only a student I cannot recommend anything at all as such) before you take any drugs please talk to your doctor because they will have your medical history and would be better suited to help you more than anyone of us can. Best of luck!
  2. Lol I could not remember your nick I hope is both a better and longer life!
  3. I am also thinking of working with a bariatric surgeon or something similar when I graduate. The need is just out of proportion. 4Abetterlife.... You will make it! You have come so far already, if anyone. Will make it is you! Remember I am always here for you, anytime you got my number.
  4. Cool my surgery is that day too with Dr. Ponce De Leon!
  5. I found a chart that says between 99 and 121 pounds http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html I am not sure how long it might take you to acchive it, it depends on a lot of things like your current weight, level of activity, metabolism and how closely you follow your pre and post op diets as well as other factors. Good luck!
  6. Oh for congestion those nasal Nettie pot work great. They are just warm water and salt rinse. Or put your face over some steam the steam helps loosen that stuff up.
  7. Yeah try airborne.... It's high in vitamins my husband says it always helps him get better sooner or not get sick
  8. Try some airborne my husband is a teacher and swears for that stuff. He says it helps him get better quicker or if he is getting sick not get sick. They are just vitamins pretty much.
  9. I think I fixed it! Thank you so much, I thought I had done that but with finals and a million projects that I have been doing I completely missed it! Thanks again!
  10. Oh I thought I did! I need to look at it again. I know I did say something about it in the middle somewhere. Maybe adding it to the comments would do it? I will definitely ad it to my next ones at the beginning and end.
  11. Ah thank you that is sweet of you to say! Well like they say what does not kill you make you stronger! How about you, what stage in your journey are you in?
  12. Cool mine too! and mine is in Mexico! LOL
  13. Great, I passed that info to his coordinator. Its probably best if they do it since they have the most accurate information. Thank you!
  14. It takes a long time for the stomach to be streched, but its definetly possible. Its actually more likely that the first time they did the surgery they used a very big buggie for the sleeve.
  15. Congratulations on your success!!! Way to go! yes it is sad, but hey you did it no matter what anyone says or thinks!
  16. Do you know what size is your stomach now? how long ago was your surgery?
  17. Dr. Ponce De Leon has been a surgeon for over 20 years in Tijuana Mexico. He does the re-sleeve surgery along with sleeve, bypass and other bariatric and other types of surgeries. He is a teacher also and has thought the sleeve to many Mexican surgeons as well as other surgeries. His coordinator is Trish you can contact her at 661-886-4617 her website is http://www.wls4bette....com/index.html
  18. Hi, My surgeon Dr. jaime Ponce de leon from Tijuana Mexico is not on the surgeons list, how can he be added? Thanks!
  19. yes and know. They can measure the liver size but that only gives an extimate liver size. You should always be honest with your surgeon because your life depends on it (literally). Dieting before surgery is specially important if your BMI is over 40, because then your liver is already much larger. I would say do your best to follow the diet, but don't be too hard on yourself if you cheat sometimes. The cheating is specially important not to do right after surgery because of leak risks
  20. it is about the liver reducing in size, if its too big they will not do your surgery. I heard of people going into surgery and coming out either with a big scar because they did an open surgery or with their whole stomach because they could not do it laporascopically.
  21. I would also see if you can get the levanox from Mexico, drugs there are a lot cheaper! Ask Dr. Garcia and see what he says about getting them there and taking them home with you if your cardiologist approves it.
  22. Suzanne, I am sorry if I have offended you, that was never my intention. I was only giving my opinion. We are all here to support each other, I will privately message you to let you know what from your post I found to be talking bad about Mexican Surgeons, I don't think you meant it that way but its just the way it read to me. Perhaps I should had done that in the first place. Thanks for all the help you have provided to others.
  23. I am very nervous too and cannot wait! Is it one of the portable DVD players? If so that should be great! I hear many people do feel like going shopping and such, I am sure Trish will take care of you both. There is also a museum near by and other stuff that you might be able to seat for. At the hotel there is a pool and gym for him. I am very excited for you, I hope all goes well!
