  1. I am sorry to hear that! that does suck. I am glad you are looking in the bright side of things. I am having my surgery May 10th with Dr. Ponce De Leon in Tijuana, he is also very good, and has been a surgeon for many many years. He is much cheaper than Dr. Aceves ($5500) so that might be a little more doable if at all. You are very close to 40, only a few pounds, drink a lot of water before going to the doctor LOL. I am sure everything will eventually workout. Good luck and keep the good attitude :-)
  2. I am very sorry to heat that Suzie! My prayers are with you and I hope everything works out well. Did you pay the deposit to the surgeon? if so they might be able to hold it until you have the money to actually do it, or given the circumstances they might refund you the money. Good luck, God bless and keep us posted.
  3. see if that works http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/groups/show/97-may-2012-sleeve-buddies/ I think you can only access them thru computers/laptops.
  4. I am afraid of death too but like I told my family, its a lot more likely that I will die from a car accident or from obesity related issues than from the surgery. Its why I took so long and so much effort finding the right surgeon for me. My surgery is in less than three days and I am terrified at times and at other times I am sooooooooooooooo excitedddddddddddddddd! In a way I am glad I have finals at school because it leaves me less time to think about this. Like I told my aunt yesterday (who is thinking of having the surgery next) I know its not going to be easy and I know I am making a huge change in my body and my life, but everything in me tells me its for the best. Rai I wish I had time to wax my car! My daugther asked me yesterday what I wanted for mothers day (I will be gone for mothers day :-( since my surgery is in Mexico (on Mexican Mothers day!) and I don't return until Sunday. My answer was "I have more than I ever wanted, but it would be awesome if I find a my car clean when I get home!" LOL..... I should had mentioned I would love to have my house clean too but that might be pushing it LOL
  5. I am booked with United, I just called them because I noticed in their website they have a number for persons with "disabilities". 1-800-228-2744 if anyone else is flying with them (you can do this even if you did not book directly with them, I booked my thru priceline.... I told them I was flying to have surgery and needed isle seats the closer to the restrooms the better (I am always afraid of having to throw up in a bag LOL) they gave me all isle seats and tried to get me as close to the restroom as possible. They also requested wheelchair assistance for me (I definitely won't need it on the way there but since I am going alone, it will be nice to have someone help me with the luggage, specially after surgery, I am afraid I will hurt after to carry it). I don't have to pay for any of this! I will make sure to get out of the seat often and walk around to prevent blood clots and will also be wearing compression stockings both ways.
  6. I wish I could say that, I still have two more med finals! My last one is Wednesday afternoon and my surgery is Thursday with Dr. Ponce De Leon! I cannot wait, I wish it was Thursday already!
  7. I feel the same way at times, you are not alone! I would be worried if you did not sometimes question it, its a life changing surgery. I talk about my fears in my last you tube video. Good luck, hangin there, you will know if its the right decision for you!
  8. Thanks holly! I had the chapstick, will go see if I can find some used silk pj because I cannot imagine buying new ones that will be too big fast! I bet they are comfy on the wounds too!
  9. I am having an extra day too but part of me is regretting it because I will be missing my hubby and daughter so much!
  10. I heard if you just ask they will let them know you just had surgery they will let you board early and will give you a good seat if is available without charge. But it all varies with airlines and how good of a mood the people are that day lol. I am planning on trying it in any case, I might even ask for a wheelchair when I arrive just so they will take me in and that normally gives them the clue. I will be wearing compression stockings and plan to walk as much as possible in the plain, at least every hour. (my flight is 5 hours with one hour layover). Good luck, let us know how it goes if you go before me!
  11. Holly, so other than the robe what else do you think is a must? I got my robe, sleepers, pj, loose dress, small warmer for broth, heating pad, gas x, iPad, chargers, phone, and other miscellaneous. Are the hospital gowns like the USA ones? Trish has been amazing and I am not even there yet, I am looking forward to meeting her, Dr. Ponce, Krista and her hubby. I cannot wait!
  12. Holly I am so glad you are doing so well!!! Only 4 more days for me! Have to survive finals first! I look forward to your pictures and videos, I am so nervous and excited!
  13. Good luck Ash!!! I hope it all works out well this time!
  14. I made mine about a month ago, Krista about two weeks? For Dr. Ponce since he is also a teacher, sometimes he is presenting at conferences and such, and has a lot of patients but they normally work with you to give you the day that you want. He also does not do more than 4 (I believe, have to double check that) bariatric surgeries on one day.
  15. Yay! I cannot wait! This last week has been feeling like a year!
  16. I am glad you had a good experience Cynthia! I hope your recovery is still going well!
  17. Anyone can get a drain, it depends on the surgeon. Some see an added benefit on having a drain, some don't agree. It's more a surgeons preference.
  18. This is the last video she made She must be having her surgery now!
  19. Hi everyone! Only one week before my sleeve surgery in Mexico. I am not much of a writer so I am doing my journey on video. If interested find it under YouTube BeautyVGSJourney
  20. Good for you boriquita! Congrats!
  21. May 10th with Dr. Ponce De Leon in Tijuana Mexico, I only have a 3 day diet because my BMI is 36. I am super excited and nervous! Good luck everyone in your surgeries!
  22. I did not mean to lie, but just not tell if it made you think they would not give you the things you needed to get your money. Unfortunately there are many people who don't understand why we choose to go to other countries for our surgery. I am glad you got it all worked out. Good luck!
  23. Thanks Liberated! I am working on it! :-)
