Well got the call today letting me know what time to check in tomorrow and 11am it is!! It's a little later than I would've wanted but I'm not going to complain.
I also found out I have no out of pocket cost to be paid before my procedure...it will be covered 100%!! I guess with all my pre op stuff I met my max, which I know I have to pay but I've made arrangements on all those balances and have a nice low monthly payment so I couldn't ask for a better outcome ????
This experience has been so smooth and positive and I have to give all thanks to God. I'm ready for my new beginning and can't wait to see what's in store for me in the future!!

Reading your posts helps me know that there is hope for my achy knees, loss of energy, headaches(high blood pressure), cpap machine and taking all of these medicines (diabetes high cholesteral)...
THANK YOU for sharing and keeping us updated. I enjoy all of the reads good thoughts and not so great thoughts.

On Tuesday I'll be three weeks post op RNY. I've lost 31 pounds so far, pre and post op.
I went to a luncheon with old co-workers Friday, many complimented me on my weight loss. I heard the same from a neighbor and some folks at church. Wow, what an awesome feeling!! (And all I tell people when they ask what I've done is eat less).
I'm already down a bra size (band, not cup).
I'm a person who always had an overactive bladder. I'd always be searching for a bathroom wherever we went. Since surgery, that's gone. I can run my errands without visiting every toilet known to man.
I'm doing well on purees, no nausea, vomiting, stuck or foamies.
I go back to work on Monday and start a new position.
I'm loving my life even more right now!!

I was super prepared and I think that's why I've done as well as I have. I tried several different Protein shakes, powders, etc. I even went to 3 monthly support group meetings prior to my surgery to obtain as much info from people who'd already had the surgery. Here's my favorite recipe. I'm in the soft food stage until day 60! To me this is a complete meal and it has never given me any problems. I tried scrambled eggs and could not get them down. While it may take a little time to prepare, once you have it will supply you with 12 meals! It is such a great go to for me. You can swap out the ham for chicken, any ground meat, etc. The nutrition facts barely change. Best of luck and I know you will be successful
    Magic Crust Quiche - Ham
    Ingredients
    2 cups 1% Lowfat Milk
    1/2 cup All-purpose flour
    5 large Eggland’s Best eggs
3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Pepper Jack cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)
3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Swiss cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)
1/2 cup Sargento Sharp Cheddar 2% Reduced Fat Cheese shreds
7 oz Deitz & Watson uncured Applewood smoked ham diced small
1/4 cup Cooked red bell pepper diced small
1/4 cup Cooked Vidalia or sweet onion diced small
Preheat oven to 350˚. In a blender or NutriBullet, mix eggs, milk and flour until blended, season with salt, pepper or whatever you’d like. Pour into a bowl and add all cheeses, cooked veggies and cooked meat. Stir to combine and then pour into an 8”x8” or 9”x9” square glass dish. Bake for 60 minutes. Let stand 5-10 before serving. You can add whatever cheeses, veggies or meats suit your taste. The small amount of flour firms up the sides and bottom making the “magic crust” while saving tons of calories. The Nutrition Facts are based on recipe above. FYI - the heavier meats, ie. ground beef tend to fall to the bottom. Serving size is approximately 2”x2 1/2”

I have been struggling (as many of us do early on) getting in adequate Protein for the day...
Getting slightly discouraged I've been talking with my sister who had GB over 5 yrs ago. Explained my frustrations and she reminded me of a a Protein shake that helped her reach goals.
I tried it today and I couldn't get enough, far from just a month ago when smelling the Protein powder make me wanna be sick!!
8oz of almond milk, (or any)
    1 scoop Protein Powder
    2 Tbs of PB2
    Cup of ice
    BLEND
    * Occasionally a squirter of SF Hershey's chocolate Syrup *
    It's so good.

I really stuck to the plan. (and I mean really stuck to it) I have completely cut out all sugar, flour, rice, Pasta, bread, potatoes, and milk from my diet. I upped my Protein to almost 120 grams a day. I also stick to about 900-1000 calories a day. My diet is really low carb. I keep my carbs under 30 a day. It was hard at first but not it's pretty easy.
One of the biggest things I do is not weigh myself regularly. This is hard enough without the added stress of staring at the scale.
I joined a gym after 4 months, got myself a trainer, and started exercising about 5 days a week. This has helped tremendously. I have lost about 26 inches from waist, chest, and thighs since starting at the gym.
I had A LOT of weight to lose so I think this has helped with my loss rate.

    I am 6 1/2 months out. Down 130.
88 pounds since surgery date. Weight has came off steady. I lose in chucks then body plays catch up.. I started at 347HW. SW 305 current weight of last week 217. The inches are amazing. I have went from a size 28/30 to a 14/16. 3-4x to a large/xlarge depending on clothing.
I think my losses could be even more if I could find more time to exercise..

    1. 18 lbs in a month is amazing. I keep seeing a lot of people post "I've only lost xx lbs since surgery." If you're using the word lost, you're doing great.
    2. You're healing. Your stomach is inflamed and tight. It makes it really hard to get anything in, even liquids. My first few weeks I would get so frustrated about not being able to get my liquids in. Now, I'm 7 weeks post op and still I can barely finish a kids portion of Beans from Chipotle. But I take down all the fluids! Anything i ever eat there's either leftovers or i end up throwing something out (or feeding it to my dog).
    3. If eating is a struggle for you, then drink your nutrition. If you're on a proper Vitamin regimen, your body can survive on Water, Vitamins and Protein for awhile. Protein and fluids also aid with healing.
If you're feeling restriction in your stomach, that means your surgery is working. If you're not able to pass any food or liquid at all, you need to see your doctor. It doesn't sound like the latter is your problem. You will eventually get more comfortable eating. Some foods work better than others. Try soft foods for longer than what your dr recommends. Add protein to Soup or yogurt etc. I found yogurt to be the easier thing to tolerate in my first few weeks.
You'll get there! Focus on your fluids and protein to maintain your nutrition levels. If your vitamins are too big or are gross, try some other ones. Everything I take is chewable or liquid except for my B complex, which is a very small gel cap I bought from my Dr's office.

I am 3 months post-op and have lost 53 lbs. The first 2 months were rough. I had to eat every 2 hrs and it was like 1/2 cup or less of food. It was hard to get in Water and I almost got dehydrated from not getting enough. But I kept working on trying to eat something, even if it was cottage cheese, every 2 hrs and when I was not eating I was drinking. It does get better. I dont think I get all the Protein I need to and still struggle with that but its a work in progress. Hang in there!

My heart completely breaks for you all of you really going through what she's going through. There's not one person who's had the gastric bypass that will tell you this is not normal. I am almost 6 months out and down 100 pounds and I still cannot say I have no regrets. But what I can say is I was taking 11 pills a day and now I take none. I can say that I dropped eight sizes and I can walk anywhere and I can fit in a booth and my health has drastically improved. I know it's hard right now but you have to focus on the reason why you had surgery. Instead of focusing on how you feel right this very second because I tell you the truth three months from now you will feel differently. And you think three months is going to take forever I tell you the truth when I say that I feel like I just had my surgery this morning and I'm already six months out that's how fast time flies. Continue to vent continue to acknowledge what ever you're feeling when you're feeling it that's healthy that's what this forum is for. But I promise that this is temporary you will get through this.

My name is Corinne and I had gastric bypass surgery right before new years eve Dec. 30, 2014. My starting weight at the beginning of this process was 314. I am 5'7 and have always been a curvy girl but my "come to Jesus" moment was when I found myself exhausted just from playing with my niece for only 10 minutes. I have never been insecure about my weight but I knew that I wanted to be around for my family and have a family of my own someday. Add to that taking blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and dealing with joint pain after a knee injury I knew it was time to make a real change to save my own life! I am 32 years old and want to start fresh. I also am motivated by a desire to get healthy overall, not just until I reach my goal weight. At 3 and 1/2 months out I am down to 248 pounds now and would like to get to 150. I am having trouble getting the energy to workout due to troubles with getting enough calories in but I am a work in progress as we all are. I, for one, do not plan on going back to the old me! I am super excited to have found this forum! If anyone has myfitnesspal please add me my name on there is corerox. I am also on Fitbit but I haven't figured it out yet looking forward to continuing to explore this site! Good luck to all.
