I am walking 5 miles a day (we have a inside cork inside of my job) that is 1 mile long and on my breaks I walk around it twice, I drink 80-100 ounces of Water daily and 80-90 grams of Protein a day. I was originally a vegetarian but I have added seafood into my diet. I eat eggs, and a piece of cheese for Breakfast w a Protein Shake and dinner and lunch could be fish, shrimp ect w steamed veggies, quinoa ect. I can only have 2-3 bites so far. I try and eat every few hours? I take all of the required Vitamins and papaya enzyme!

myjourneyagain reacted to Sreeves in New here- looking for advice on lapband revision!
I am a band-to-bypass revision patient. I got banded in November of 2007 and had it removed in December 2014. I was such a mess that my doctor waited 4 months to do my bypass (04.08.2015) and I am SO glad I did the revision! My surgeon said that he likes to go with bypass for previously banded patients because of the trauma caused by banding. With the sleeve the new stomach is banana-shaped whereas with bypass a brand new pouch is created out of healthy tissue. It is incredible what a difference bypass is from banding. I was sick pretty much the entire time I was banded and I never could eat properly. Now I have what I was hoping the band was going to do for me; a tool that I am using to help me redesign my eating habits and live a healthy lifestyle! Of course ultimately the decision is up to you but I can tell you I am 100% happy with my progress so far. I actually feel like I can do things right this time!

So it's summertime and I'm craving what else? None other than ice cream and milkshakes! Ugh! This was becoming a problem. Until I remembered how I used to make a nice little chocolate smoothie from Protein Powder, ice, and a little bit of milk during the early post-op period. So I decided to try something similar. I used 1 scoop of Quest Peanut Butter Protein powder, 1 cup of Silk Cashew Milk, and some ice. Threw it all in the blender and WOW! AMAZING! It's just like drinking a peanut butter milkshake. You could do a little less milk and more ice to make it thicker too. Anyway, it ends up being something like 135 calories for the whole thing AND you're getting your protein in :-)

Once a cheater always a cheater. Two days post, I couldn't take the broth anymore, so I went to Sonic and ordered a Jr. Cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup and onions. I chewed each bite about 20 times and spit it all back into the bag. Pretty nasty, but the taste, woooo weee. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. Awesome. But to actually eat, 5 days out, went to this great seafood place to Celebrate a major event in our family and had oysters on a half shell. Went down smooth of course and sat well. That was the same fat kid in the candy shop, but actually eating the candy.

the surgery is just a tool, having said that why would you try and overeat just to see if you can if you continue with that mindset you will be large again go back and measure your food

I'm banded but regardless, I also could eat a whole NY bagel at one sitting...and even another half if I wanted. These days, I eat a Bagel Thin (about 120 calories) or I cut a NY bagel into thirds and eat one third only.
Some of it is knowing you shouldn't eat as much as you used to...and some of it is knowing you can't. Or, if you can, you'll pay for it by being very full and uncomfortable...and maybe having to bring it all back up.
It's all about portion size, and healthy choices. If I was having the type of Breakfast you eat, I'd only have the eggs and one slice of bacon. Maybe half a bagel thin...or no bread at all. Then a piece of fruit...NO bakery visits. If the craving for a sweet was really bad, I'd have a 100 calorie snack.< /p>
That's what you're looking at if you have WLS. All I can tell you is that just like it says in my signature, 'nothing...and I mean NOTHING tastes as good as how I feel both physically and emotionally now that I'm a normal sized woman.
    Good luck!

Not to sound mean but your parents seem to be grouchy. I hate when people try to battle or compare there past experience with yours. It's not about who had a bigger surgery or who had more pain. Really! They were selfish and unconcerned from the beggining , laughing at your weight, being late to pick you up then, making smart ass remarks about you being out of breath. Pay no attention to them. Go on with your normal routine as if they were not there. You have support from your husband and that's good enough. Maybe there is a sense of jealousy . Keep your head up. You'll be fine. Especially when you start dropping pounds. Good luck

Is there any way your husband can sit down with your parents and say something like:
"Likelike is recovering from major surgery and she's working on getting stronger and healing. She's following her doctor's orders with respect to exercise and eating, but it's going to take some time before she gets her strength and energy back. She really needs all of our support right now. Can you please stop criticizing her and being sarcastic with her? It makes her feel really bad and she needs to feel positive right now. If you can't do that, could you please take a vacation for a couple of weeks?"
Or you could have the conversation. But I think it's good to lay it all on the table, what you need, and how you aren't getting that *at all* from them, instead of picking back and forth about each individual instance of their being rude and non-supportive. Once they see the big picture of what is going on, and that what they are doing is truly hurting you, hopefully they will want to support you and lift you up instead of tearing you down. And since you said they live "with you," I assume it is your house and your prerogative to tell them to get lost for a couple of weeks if they persist. There is no reason you should be hiding away in your own home!
But, if you know your parents well enough to know they would have an extremely hostile reaction, then yes, stay out of their way, avoid their company, talk to them as little as possible, and focus on your own recovery rather than whatever they are saying/thinking/doing. Work on making them irrelevant to you, at least in the short run.

When I joined this forum in December 2012, I was morbidly obese and in so much joint pain that I was probably only months away from being wheelchair bound. I was terrified of surgery and terrified of what lay ahead. I expected the lap band to fail as everything else had failed when it came to weight loss. But it was my only shot as I needed hip and knee surgery and no orthopedist would work on me at nearly 270 pounds and with a BMI over 50.
I decided my forum name would be gowalking because that was my wish..my desire, my hope. Walking, like breathing, is something we all take for granted till we can't do it. Then we realize how badly we are impacted when every step is torture.
Many of you know my story so I'll do a quick summary. I was banded on January 14th, 2013. I lost enough weight by June of 2013 to get my surgery scheduled. I had both hips replaced in October and after a long and difficult rehab, and another scary and unexpected surgery, I am finally as mobile as anyone else out there. No...I can't run and yes...I still have pain and issues but I no longer fear not being able to get to the grocery store, or running any kind of errand. If I can't catch a cab, I can walk. If there's a ton of traffic, I can walk down the steps to the subway and move around underground...which is sometimes the only way to get anywhere in New York City. That feeling of helplessness and panic is gone.
My knees are still with me. I am small enough now at 113 pounds that while I have bad arthritis in the knees, I can move them pretty darn good and have been able to delay knee replacement indefinitely for now.
So...here's the big news. For those folks who have travelled this journey with me on LapBandTalk and now BP, I always said that I wanted to visit England and see all the sights I've seen on TV since I was a teenager watching Upstairs/Downstairs which was the '70s version of Downton Abbey. I want to see it all from Buckingham Palace to Big Ben, to a boat ride on the Thames to a day in the English Countryside.
Friends...my trip is booked. I'm heading to London in July. I even booked a bike tour of Hyde Park, and St. James Park along with a walking tour of the East End and Whitechapel...where Jack the Ripper lurked. So I'm going to sit in coach on British Airways for 6+ hours and will be comfy because I fit. I'm going to walk and bike and explore and enjoy the city I've wanted to go to for nearly my whole life.
For anyone out there who is starting their weight loss journey or struggling with maintaining or in the midst of a stall or doing really well as I have been fortunate enough to be, just know that WLS has given me a second chance at life and I can't begin to explain how truly grateful I am. The numbers on the scale, the size of our jeans, all the goals big and small that we set for ourselves as we travel this road together makes me feel overwhelmed with good fortune. I've lost 150+ pounds and gained back my life. I think it was a pretty good deal, don't you?
One more thing....I can't thank all of you enough for being my support and strength these past two and a half years. I've made some wonderful friendships here and value each and every one of you. I did not do this alone and wanted to make sure to show you all my appreciation. I just wish some of the folks who helped me back in the beginning were still here to see this post and know how thrilled I am to finally say that I'm getting a big item on my bucket list checked off.
Have a great holiday weekend everyone and thanks for reading this long, but heartfelt post.

I still have to go in this week to wrap up some paperwork, but I'm just so grateful that it will be a little less hectic and I will have plenty of time to focus on my pre-op diet and getting my house and other affairs in order. 8 days to go!

I started out wanting the sleeve because my wife had one and with great success but because I have barrets esophagus ( results from acid reflux) and can be precancerous so as long as it is in check no worries. My surgeon wouldn't consider the sleeve. I was more interested in the benefits rather than the procedure I was going to have. From what I've learned along my journey that the bypass pretty much cures reflux.????. June 15th can't get here soon enough.????. Good luck to everyone no matter what or where your journey takes you.????
