What Happens On The First Appoinment?
Each insurance company is different. After my initial information session I knew (or strongly thought) that I wanted the sleeve. So I called my insurance company from the waiting room and made sure I was covered. I then scheduled my intake and saw my PCP. At my intake I gave them my weight history and labs for the past 7 years and a note from my PCP with his okay. At the intake appt. I was scheduled to see the surgeon, psychologist and nutritionist. Those appts are all for the end of this month, so I went and had all my bloodwork, X-rays, ultrasound, and EKG done this week so the surgeon will have it all I his hands the day I meet with him. I want the ball rolling full speed ahead, so I ask what I will need for the next appt so they have it by the time I get there.

How To Proceed?
I am jumping through all of the hoops now, waiting to see the surgeon, the phychologist, and the nutritionist. I am praying that I get approved. Good luck to you on your journey. Keep us updated.

Great Explanation Of Inches Lost But The Scale Doesn't Move
Makes perfect sense, now. . And to think of all the times I've fed into this by returning to my old eating habits. No wonder my poor body is so confused and trying to hold on to every lil morsel.

Let's Talk Protein
Thanks for the replies. I have started to shop for some protein drinks and powders to stock up pre-surgery so I won't break the bank buying all at once. I've read that your taste may change after surgery, so I'm buying a variety. I figured that I may as well start taking in the extra protein/replacing meals pre-surgery so my body doesn't go into shock with the pre-op liquid diet.

Let's Talk Protein
I have not yet met with the nutritionist, so tell me - when/how do you drink the protein if you are in the liquid or mushie phases? Do you use the shakes as meal replacements or as a part of your fluid intake, or both? Do you mix the protein powder with drinks, food, or both?
