  1. Hang in there MisstxDiva. We're all cheering you on to recovery. When do you go home?
  2. Yay! Congrats!!! Sooooo happy for you. Be sure to keep us updated on how you're doing.
  3. No answer to your question, but I'm from Philly and also going to Dr. G at Abington for my surgery. I don't have a date yet, but I'm hoping for late June. :excited: I have my appt with Dr. G, the psych, and the nut in 2 weeks.
  4. Thanks for the info. I brought one to work today. I guess I'll be saving it until I get home.
  5. Good luck yo you. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers today. Update when you can. And save me a spot on the loser's bench when you get there.
  6. Thanks for sharing your story. I don't have a date yet, but have found this forum to be very positive. Can't wait to share more in your journey.
  7. When I went to my support group meeting I met a man who started at 500+ pounds and had lost 100 pounds in 7 weeks. He was truly an inspiration. You can do this! We can do this!
  8. Each insurance company is different. After my initial information session I knew (or strongly thought) that I wanted the sleeve. So I called my insurance company from the waiting room and made sure I was covered. I then scheduled my intake and saw my PCP. At my intake I gave them my weight history and labs for the past 7 years and a note from my PCP with his okay. At the intake appt. I was scheduled to see the surgeon, psychologist and nutritionist. Those appts are all for the end of this month, so I went and had all my bloodwork, X-rays, ultrasound, and EKG done this week so the surgeon will have it all I his hands the day I meet with him. I want the ball rolling full speed ahead, so I ask what I will need for the next appt so they have it by the time I get there.
  9. I am jumping through all of the hoops now, waiting to see the surgeon, the phychologist, and the nutritionist. I am praying that I get approved. Good luck to you on your journey. Keep us updated.
  10. Makes perfect sense, now. . And to think of all the times I've fed into this by returning to my old eating habits. No wonder my poor body is so confused and trying to hold on to every lil morsel.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I have started to shop for some protein drinks and powders to stock up pre-surgery so I won't break the bank buying all at once. I've read that your taste may change after surgery, so I'm buying a variety. I figured that I may as well start taking in the extra protein/replacing meals pre-surgery so my body doesn't go into shock with the pre-op liquid diet.
  12. I have not yet met with the nutritionist, so tell me - when/how do you drink the protein if you are in the liquid or mushie phases? Do you use the shakes as meal replacements or as a part of your fluid intake, or both? Do you mix the protein powder with drinks, food, or both?
  13. I think you qualify under the second bullet, up I am no insurance expert. Good luck. I hope it all goes well for you.
  14. I think what you arenfeelin vis quite normal. I am not yet sleeved and still have some of those same thoughts at times. Hang in there.
  15. Congrats on the fast approval!
