FluffyBleu76 got a reaction from LeticiaHuggins in Gallbladder Removal
I had my gallbladder out at 19. I wasn't overweight at that time so with the first attack, the ER gave me pain medication and sent me home. The second attack had me thinking I was going to die so I made my "death bed" confessions to my mother, asked her to give my siblings certain things of mine and wrote a letter telling everyone how much I loved them. I passed out from the pain! Fortunately, the next ER decided to do an ultra-sound sound on my abdomen and I had 3 very large rocks in my gallbladder! Surgery was scheduled for a few days later.
Now, besides having to answer to my parents for some of my confessed mischief, I think that having those attacks were the best thing that happened to me. From what I hear from others, the attacks happen more frequently and are worse. Had I known that I had gallstones, I would have never waited for the pain... it's not worth it. Get the surgery.

OK, so it's been a while and I am close to 40 lbs down now :-) The one thing that was my "Achilles Heel" prior to the surgery was rice and I am not a big fan of it any more. I can eat anything! I just don't desire much of anything bad. No heartburn, still haven't had the stuffed feeling and the only time I vomited was when I had a but of food poisoning. Other than that, if I wasn't so open about my surgery, no one would know. People just think I am watching my calories- which, is true... I just have Sleeven to help me :-D

Nothing bothers me either and that worries me. I am not the chocolate lover I used to be. I am not the bread enthusiast that I was. But I absolutely love juice! I can eat about 4 oz.of Protein at a time and feel comfortably full. I am 3 months out and down about 20 lbs (not counting presurgery loss). I took a couple of weeks off from exercising because I had a family emergency. I plan on resuming my activities tomorrow. I also took time from this board and I know that wasn't a good move. I need the support from all you guys :-)

    All was good!

FluffyBleu76 reacted to fattymcfatterson in Obesity, Endometrial Cancer & The Sleeve
    The Back Story
In February of 2012 I was diagnosed with “complex endometrial hyperplasia with atypia”. Basically, pre-cancerous cells of the uterus. My gyno said at 40 it was a slim chance of my getting pregnant and I should have a hysterectomy. I asked him if my chances of getting prego after WLS would increase and he said that my egg condition would probably decrease even more and it would be a miracle if I got prego. At this time I had decided already to get the sleeve and was not sure what to do about the hyster. He said if I was not going to schedule the hyster very soon I should come back in 6 months and have another d&c to test my endo cells. In june I decided to meet with another bariatric surgeon, Dr. Cribbins in Dallas, for 2 reasons. His pre-op diet was NOT liquid only, and he did surgery with the davinci robot (less pain, faster recovery). I had the thought that maybe I could get both the WLS and the hyster at the same time, with one recovery and one bout with Hair loss. He said that would not be a problem and referred me to a gynecological oncologist who he worked with before that sends his patients over for the sleeve. Today, July 11, I went and met with the gyno onco, Dr. Heffernan of Dallas, FULLY expecting to hear you need a hyster and we can do it at the same time as WLS. Well, he unexpectedly threw me a curve ball…..
This is basically what Dr. H said:
“Women who are obese produce an ongoing, UNOPPOSED stream of estrogen. This stream of estrogen over a long period of time changes our endometrial lining when it is not opposed by progesterone. “
So basically, some endo cancers are caused by obesity. He has had people with my same diagnosis, get RID of their abnormal endo cells and have no cancer or pre-cancerous cells! He has had women with endometrial CANCER, get cured of the cancer!!!!!!!!!
What is the combination? Progesterone treatment (megace orally or mirena iud) and weight loss (recommends the sleeve)! Why weight loss? Because we lose that overabundance of estrogen created from being fat or from PCOS. He said that getting the sleeve is the best medical intervention life saving/changing thing I could do.
I heard everything he said but did not process it until during my 1.5 hour drive home. I could possibly not need a hysterectomy and may not have to slam the door shut on having a child???? And, not develop cancer???? I thought my choices were, get hysterectomy, or get cancer. He gave me a 3 month scrip for megace and said it was possible by the time I had my hysterectomy my stuff could be all cleared up. Say what???
This morning when I woke up I was convinced I was going to be getting hysterectomy and sleeve in the same shot late august early sept. Now it looks like I will be getting a endo biopsy/d&c in a month, and if it is not WORSE then what I had in January, just getting the sleeve and maybe an IUD. And who knows, a year from now maybe I will be pregnant.
In my 20 years of being Fatty McFatterson, I NEVER had heard that obesity was/or could be directly related to endometrial/cervical cancers. Now I am obligated to let many people know!! I REALLY hope this long (poorly written cuz it is late and my mind is racing and tired) post can help someone in their decision to change their health!!!!!!
    With renewed HOPE,
    Crystal

chocolate, I have a couple of Hershey Kisses 3 or 4 x's a week. I had this surgery so I wouldn't have to give up on everything and compared on how I used to eat chocolate before surgery I'm doing GREAT! Isn't that why we all had this surgery so we still "on occasion" get to have a little of what we want? Except Brownies I can't touch them yet, I'm still too weak, Aww Man I want a Brownie, Damn I shouldn't have went there ...LOL

I want to be able to have just a bite of stuff. I don't want anything to be off limits. I truly enjoy food and want that to continue. I love to cook fresh, healthy stuff for my family. I'm not a baker and have never gone tooooo much for the sweet stuff. Unless it's ice cream. My problem is volume. I've always been a volume eater. I won't miss that at all!!!

I have decided to stop worrying about the numbets on my scale. I love my scale when the numbers go down, but hate it when the numbers do not move or go up. We all know what this is like. However, I am super excited because I am losing inches!! The jeans I bought 3 weeks ago are getting baggy! I wish I was under 200(207.4 currently), but I'll take inches lost over a number on the scale any day! Take it from me folks, those scale numbers do not mean a whole lot.

I give it a 9. The only reason I wouldn't say a 10 is because I have a lot of questions that came up post op that research can't yet fully answer. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It is a big adjustment and should be done in a point of your life where you have time for self reflection and adjustment. I am so glad I got my sleeve!

FluffyBleu76 reacted to SkinnyOnMe in 1St Time I Loved My Sleeve
Today was the first time I actually loved my sleeve. I went through stages of hate and questioning my choice but today I loved it. I went to a cookout and I was scared that I would stand out because I wasn't eating, like I have been at other social events. However, when it came time to make my plate I put 2 or 3 fork-fulls of everything I wanted on my plate and a whole small crab. I ate slowly and talked and laughed and I felt satisfied. Yes, I did eat about 1000 calories today which may or may not be great but if I didn't have the sleeve I would have eaten everything I ate today just much more of it. My caloric intake would have been atleast 3000-3500.... and thats not including the drinks I would have drank.
I felt normal. I felt happy. I loved my sleeve.

Hey I'm 21 as well and I don't really miss the whole "party" thing. At 7 months out I do enjoy a glass of wine or share a beer occasionally (like, a couple times a month... maybe). I can't do mixed drinks and I haven't tried shots. The reason is because they hit me WAY too fast. I ordered one and I barely took a few sips and my head was spinning. If a drink can affect me that way there is no way I'm trying a shot. My sleeve couldn't handle it. That being said, a glass of wine makes me tipsy. I generally don't like that feeling so I don't normally finish it and I sip it over the entire dinner (if i'm out).
You are right, we cannot "party" like most people. But we can still have a good time. And hey, we are "cheap" dates now right NO complaining there!
