  1. He is my surgeon and my surgery is for 4/20.
  2. I saw the Dr. about 3 weeks ago and according to him, the surgery is a medical need. I knew it was a long time ago before the comorbidities. I am so anxious about waiting to hear what the insurance says. I don't want to be super model thin, I just want to be healthy and this waiting game is nerve wrecking. I want to hurry and get this done! I have been thinking about this for 3 years now and I am ready. OK, I just needed to vent :-)
  3. Lately, I have been eating really bad. I feel full and then shortly after, I go for more. I can't pinpoint what or why I am eating like this. Maybe it is boredom. I just know that I feel guilty now. Someone, please give me some helpful tips. I don't want this to all be in vain. I have lost over 35 lbs since May and I don't want them back.

    This Is Hard...

I am just eliminating refined carbs. Kinda along the lines of The Atkins Diet. Not for too long because we do need carbs but I have been going overboard with them and I need to stop.

    This Is Hard...

I had my surgery April 20 of this year. I was doing really good and then I fasted for Ramadan (A Muslim holy month that requires no eating or drinking from the break of dawn until sunset). It seems like my body has been on a 1.5 month stall since then. The nutritionist said I could fast and then after fasting, the doctor said I shouldn't have as my body was healing. My cravings have been weird ever since. I was thinking of trying the 5 day pouch test. Has anyone else tried this? BTW, thank you all for the tips!

    Nothing Bothers Me? Really?

OK, so it's been a while and I am close to 40 lbs down now :-) The one thing that was my "Achilles Heel" prior to the surgery was rice and I am not a big fan of it any more. I can eat anything! I just don't desire much of anything bad. No heartburn, still haven't had the stuffed feeling and the only time I vomited was when I had a but of food poisoning. Other than that, if I wasn't so open about my surgery, no one would know. People just think I am watching my calories- which, is true... I just have Sleeven to help me :-D
  8. So I am a little over 3 months post-op and I am down over 30 lbs. I have not had one negative side-effect from the surgery and I am working my sleeve. Well, I am fasting for the month of Ramadan and in my first meal, I had chicken salad that must have been left out all day because I, along with a few others, got food poisoning. I was sick for a day and a half! Vomit, diarrhea and sweats. It was one of the worst pains in my life. Having said that, it seemed to hit me a bit harder than it hit the others who got sick. Also, I still have no appetite and it seems like I can only do protein shakes and popsicles. Have any of your experienced any thing like this and do you think the sickness hit me harder because I have less stomach?

    "adult" Topic :)

I was 2 weeks out and my Dr. told me as long as he wasn't sitting on my stomach, it should be all good. Being on top was a little uncomfortable so we did it spoon style and doggie style at first. And yes, you will need a pillow for support especially if you guys are both really excited.

    Cheated

...and shared a funnel cake with strawberries and soft-serve icec ream later on that day. I had a few bites and realized that I had a much smaller stomach

    Cheated

Yes! Deep fried red snapper with hush puppies. I got full quick but no side-effects.

    Nothing Bothers Me? Really?

Nothing bothers me either and that worries me. I am not the chocolate lover I used to be. I am not the bread enthusiast that I was. But I absolutely love juice! I can eat about 4 oz.of protein at a time and feel comfortably full. I am 3 months out and down about 20 lbs (not counting presurgery loss). I took a couple of weeks off from exercising because I had a family emergency. I plan on resuming my activities tomorrow. I also took time from this board and I know that wasn't a good move. I need the support from all you guys :-)
  13. We were invited to a friends house for dinner today, Spaghetti and Meatballs. I have had pasta since being sleeved and it wasn't an issue. I knew I wasn't going to have any issues. Well, I was wrong! The pasta at my friends house was not the whole wheat kind that I am accustomed to using at home. I usually order whole wheat pasta when I am at a restaurant. Anyway, I ate a little bit around 4:30 pm and I have felt uber-stuffed ever since. I hate this feeling! I had a very small portion size and I feel like I just had a pre-sleeve Thanksgiving meal. UGH!!!!! Well, at least now I know.

Crush Meds And Put In What?

Ask your doctor. If they are timed release, then crushing them will make them ineffective.

    On A Scale Of 1-10....

I had no health issues but I didn't want any. I would give it 9 only because there is no perfect surgery (although this one come close).

    Meat Is Gross Now :(

LOL... I used to eat rice so much that a gag gift for my 22nd bday was a book called, "1001 Things You Can Do With Rice"! Now, a little over 1 month post-op, I could careless if I had rice. I don't crave it and it doesn't seem as tasty anymore. It's funny how this surgery has changed our taste preferences.
  17. In my 1.5 month journey of being sleeved, I almost became a scale addict! This was something that meant absolutely nothing to me in my younger, fit days so it shouldn't matter now. I read this article and thought I would share for those that become discouraged when it seems the scale isn't moving. http://www.mydailymoment.com/diet_and_fitness/healthy_eating/your_ideal_weight_isn_t_what_you_think_it_is.php?page=3

Major Migraine! What Can I Take?

Take the excedrin and watch for migraine triggers. I had to take my migraine meds 4 days pre-op.

    Help

Fight the urge and contact your nutritionist.

    Sleeved And 21

You will be missing out on empty calories. You can party sober.
  21. He doesn't sound very supportive and you are doing great! I was sleeved 4/20 and I lost 18 lbs, to date. My doctor told me not to get discouraged :-) You know you are doing great and you should be applauded. Tell your Doc to lay off the Hater-ade.

    Feeling Like A Failure

PQ, you have had setbacks that many of us haven't so yes, it may be a little bit tougher but all of struggle which is why we all had this surgery. YOU ARE NOT FAILURE! You have KEPT over 50 lbs. off. I don't think anyone would call that a failure. Keep up with your good foods and as I have been reminded a few times, this is a journey. I was comparing my weightloss with others and that just won't work. Everyone is on the same journey but with very different paths. You just have to get back on yours.

    3 Day Post Op

Ice chips. I tried one sip hours post-op and felt like I was going to barf. I asked the nurse for crushed ice to get my fluids in. the cold was bit uncomfortable but I just wanted to stay hydrated. it worked!!!
  24. OK, so I was a little bummed about not losing as much weight as others have in the first 2 weeks (I lost 10 lbs.). So, I am a month post-op today and I have lost an additional 6 lbs. I was slightly bummed but not as much as before. Afterall, 16 lbs. that I carried around with me last week are gone! Well, my husband has a job that requires him to travel for 4-5 days a week so he is how I measure myself, lol. Every time he gets home, he notices how I am changing. Then yesterday I had my 1 month follow-up and the look in my surgeons eyes when he saw was priceless! The first thing he said, "You look good! How are you?" I can once again fit into my True Religion jeans without looking like a walking sausage! Jeans and pants that were once a struggle to zip, can now be worn without buttoning or zipping. Heck, I may even need a belt for a few pairs. I can't believe how I look or how I feel! I was never a slave to scale in my fit days and I promised my surgeon that while I would keep up with my weight, I would not obsess over the number. I know I have brighter days to come and I so look forward to them. Thank you for all the encouragement and please, if there is one thing I can share with those newly sleeved, just remember to: celebrate any amount of loss, celebrate when you can fit into something (or somewhere) you couldn't fit before and tell yourself that this is journey!

    Unflavored Protein Powders

They are all gross to me. That being said, it is just temporary and Unjury probably has the best of them all.
