As soon as you're comfortable. Your surgery wasnt in the "affected area"
2. Same here! Insurance companies suck, but at least yours will pay for it
3. Totally inappropriate!
4. What part of mx are you going? Most of the probs are in Juarez. I went yo Tj, and never felt unsafe. Its not like your going to be hanging out in dark alleys, and bad areas. You'll surely not be taken anywhere unsafe. You're mom is just sounding off what she has heard in the past, and there have been major changes in safety in the last year. You'll be fine!
5. I bought comfy sports bras, and a small pkg of undies a sz bigger
6. Have this on my pinterest board under avacado addiction, lol these are fab!
7. Ive seen someone post 3wk 3mo 6mo, etc
8. Wow! Truly inspirational! You're doing amazingly well!
9. That is so wonderful! Its beautiful! Xo
10. I would definitely 100% recommend Dr. Ramos Kelly. His reputation, qualifications, and affiliations, are everything you should look for in a surgeon. I like the personalized service that he gives, and that he runs a family business. I also like that he doesnt use a coordinator that gouges about 2k of your fee, just to set up your surgery. Dr K has a personal assistant, instead, and he is simply wonderful! I also like that Dr K personally oversees your post op care, and you're not placed in a recovery house, but a luxurious hotel! You will stay a minimum of 2 days in the hospital, and won't be released unless you are ready (you will be). Omar, and Cecey(Dr's wife) will be checking in on you, and Cecey will take care of your incisions, and bring you a care pkg of gatorade, juice, jello etc. Dr K will come see you everyday, and answer any questions/concerns you may have. I could go on and on, but for a few hundred more, you will get a better quality surgeon, and aftercare program and they will come get you whenever your flight in, no extra cost for a hotel!
11. Half a can of this, with some crushed ice, in place of Water or milk. I add it to the vannilla or chocolate Peanut Butter new whey protien, double delish!
12. Im with bubbaloo! The new whey body fortress is a good inexpensive way to get in a significant amount of protein, in a single meal. However, I have tired of protien drinks, so in an effort to shake things up, ive just started adding a 1/2 can (7.5 Oz) Starbucks, doubleshot energy vanilla light, instead of water, or milk. Yoy can get the cans by the energy drinks. It tastes amazing! You get 4.5 more grams of protien, and the carbs and sugars are 10g & 7g. Something that I can live with at 4wks out!
13. Usually Omar will ask you when is a good time, or he'll say "the Dr is available now, do you have time to talk"? It doesnt take long at all, usually within a few hours, or at most a couple days
14. Almanza is one of the less expensive ones, and I hear that is how it works. I paid 200 (with a small discount) more with Dr Kelly, and he admitted me and my family that were were also sleeved, into the hospital, the day before our surgeries. Almanza has a schedule that he picks ppl up from SD, and so if you get there after that you will need to get a hotel overnight. At least that is what I understand.
15. I had a great experience with Dr Kelly! You are in wonderfully skilled hands! My only real tip would be, to do at least a ten day pre op diet to shrink your liver well. Dont cheat! Dr Kelly says that its non compliant patients that have a longer surgery and that could lead to longer healing times! (hugs)
16. Dr Kelly does not. If surgery is under 90 min, a lot of surgeons dont
17. This is normal! It took me 2 full Weeks til I could go a day without a nap in the afternoon. Get your rest, and heal! (hugs)
18. I had neither! unless you're a higher bmi, the surgery takes less than an hour, so usually, no catheter is needed. Also, in my experience, again, unless you are a higher bmi, you most likely won't have a drain. But honestly, you need to talk to your surgeon, and see what his preferences are.
19. Thank you everyone! It is nice to see positive change in the first month. I appreciate your kind words!
20. so, I was sleeved June 11th by the Phenomenal Dr Kelly (Tijuana) & as of today, I'm down over 26 pounds! I am already feeling so much better & have a lot more energy to keep up with my 3 young kids! So hrtes to the next twenty five + pounds down the drain!
21. Maybe you could print out Dr kellys resume, some of the research stats that you have found
