  1. I agree. I have hypothroidism. Low thyroid hormones which makes your TSH levels high. Synthoid is a synthetic hormone to replace what your body isn't making. Weight gain is just one of the symptoms.
  2. I didn't. I got liquid percocet and zofran.
  3. My surgery is August 1st and I'm on day 7 of my pre op diet but I'm using Optifast, so the only things I can have outside of that are sf popsicles and jello. I never realized how many food commercials there are and the amount of emails I get about food! Ugh!
  4. I definitely know how this feels! I hate when someone gets a pic and then tags me on facebook! It will be nice to take pictures that aren't only from the neck up and even those have to be from a certain angle!
  5. Good question! I have been wondering the same thing. My Husband just started a new job today and I didn't want him to have to take 2 days off so soon. I am opting for day 2. Day one I will be in the hospital with plenty of attention and he can come visit me when he gets off work. Looks like I will be discharged the next day in the late afternoon so he may not have to miss much time at all.
  6. I have hypothyroidism and although I am not banded yet, I have lost 27 pounds in the last 5 months. I too think it depends on how well your thyroid levels are controlled.
  7. I'm on day 6 but I'm using Optifast. The first day for me was the hardest but it does get easier! I say the best thing is to keep busy! Good luck!
  8. My surgery is scheduled for August 1st and I'm on day 4 of the pre op diet too! My physician has me doing Optifast, 6 times a day, 3 shakes, 2 bars and 1 soup. I too am having diarrhea but like everyone is saying, fluid in, fluid out. Other than that and the occasional stomach rumbling I'm doing pretty good and down 4 pounds. Hang in there and good luck!
  9. I am scheduled August 1st and am on day 3 of my pre op diet.
  10. I'm on day three...I'm doing Optifast, 6 times a day, 3 shakes, 2 bars and 1 soup (980 calories). The first day I was miserable! Since my 6 month supervised diet, I normally don't go over 1200 calories as it is but being on this pre op diet makes me want everything! Hang in there! For me it seems to be getting better and I just keep trying to concentrate on the end result. Good luck!
  11. I don't have to lose a specific amount before surgery, the pre op diet is to shrink my liver.
  12. I was wondering about going to the gym too...I'm on Optifast and getting only 980 calories a day. I usually work out for about an hour but I'm afraid that I will be starving with such few net calories after a workout.
  13. Wonderful news! I hope surgery is a piece of cake for me too!
  14. I've told some family, friends and co workers but sometimes I regret my decision. Today I told a co worker that my PCP has already lowered my blood pressure medicine (I haven't had surgery yet) and her response was "That's great, if you would have started a year ago, you would be at your goal already and you wouldn't need surgery." Grrr!!!! In some people's eyes everything is easy!
  15. I'm currently on day two of my pre op diet and without a doubt, it's hard! Especially when everyone else in the house is eating normally! But I have worked too hard to get this far! An old saying comes to mind "Cheaters never win!" Good luck!
  16. Me too! So far so good but it's only been a few hours!
  17. That's great! I know the feeling!
  18. Today is day one of my pre op diet! I'm excited, especially after seeing my PCP yesterday for my pre op appointment. After losing 22lbs, she already had to lower my blood pressure medicine! Whoo hoo!
  19. Yay! I too have mixed emotions, I remember telling myself that if my insurance approves my surgery then it it is meant to be! I am scheduled to be banded August 1st!
  20. My pre op appointment with my surgeon was July 2nd and my surgery is August 1st.
