  1. Good luck! The six months definately goes by fast! I just had my 5th appointment, my pre op is 7/2 and my surgery is 8/1.
  2. I too have been overweight since childhood. I think the least amount I weighed in high school was 166. It may seem like a silly question but I was wondering if it's harder for someone to lose weight who has always been overweight compared to someone who was thin at one point?
  3. I thought the same thing! I started comparing what the machines tell me and what's on my fitness pal. For example, 30 minutes on the the bicycle (12-14 mph) says 399 calories burned on my fitness pal but the bike at the gym said 104.
  4. I'm in CT, a little further north in Windsor.
  5. I have hypothyroidism and I'm being banded 8/1
  6. That's great news! I'm getting banded 8/1. I'm hoping to get rid of my blood pressure and cholesterol meds too!
  7. That's great news! My 6th visit is July 2nd and my surgery is scheduled for 8/1. Can't wait!
  8. During my pre op class, it was suggested to get a baby spoon to use post op.
  9. Congrats on starting your journey! I will be banded 8/1, can't wait!
  10. Wow! That's awesome! I love to read the success stories!
  11. At the first visit with my surgeon, he said, "I think we can get you to 140lbs", so I've just stuck with it but I'd be happy with 150-160ish
  12. Congrats! I love a good success story! You look great!
  13. I was recently told that I was pre-diabetic with an a1c of 5.8.
  14. At my pre op class, I sampled the unjury chicken broth. It was really good!
  15. According to my surgeon, my pre open diet will be for 2 weeks and will consist of optifast shakes, bars and soups. 6 servings per day, approximately 1000 calories.
  16. I haven't had surgery yet but at my last visit I asked my surgeon what size band he is going to use and if he fills it at all at the time if surgery. He said he will probably use a 12cc band and usually fills it with 3-4ccs at the time of surgery.
  17. I've lost over 10lbs since my initial weigh in, unfortunately, my insurance goes by your weight at the end of your supervised 6 month diet! Luckily, I will still have a bmi over 35 with several co-morbidities by the time of my pre-op appt. 7/2. I had to check into that, I was worried and thought I may have to scale back on the weight loss until after my surgery.
  18. I agree! Do whatever you need to! If it wasn't for my high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol and possible sleep apnea, I would be exactly where you are! My bmi is 38.4. If I didn't have the co-morbidities, I would be wearing those sweats and ankle weights!
  19. Wow! That's wonderful! I am going to be banded on 8/1, I love to hear the sucess stories!
  20. I am being banded in August. I've read so many posts lately about failure after 5yrs...it's so nice to read a positive post and long term success story!
