    Dilated Esophagus?

It’s been 6 years since I’ve logged on to this forum which used to be my go to for information! I guess it’s true when things are going good you tend to stay away. Initially, I weighed 238, my lowest with the lap band was 138. 100 lbs! But, i’ve been struggling for the last 3 years, my 19 year old daughter died in a car accident and I guess I just didn’t care anymore. I have put on 50 lbs. it’s not that I’m eating more because I physically can’t. My primary care says it’s hormonal (pre-menopause). I finally after a year went to the doctor and when they checked the band my esophagus is twice it’s normal size and I’m restricted so nothing was done. Basically, I was told to get back to the basics, small bites, chew thoroughly, etc. I guess you forget about that after 6 years!i also have a lot of reflux but the good news is my band is still perfectly placed. Any suggestions? I’ve been doing liquids but at this point, I’m afraid to even eat solids!

    NSV

Congrats! I was hoping for the same but turns out my high bp is genetic. I did get to reduce the dosage though.

    Too tight or irritated?

I had a fill on the 19th and could sip water slowly, but I felt it. I wondered if I had too much of a fill and it was the weekend so I just rode it out. This continued for the 2 days that I'm required to be on fluids after a fill, and on the 3rd day, I wasn't as tight, but I definitely have more restriction. I think my stomach was irritated by the fill Also, I usually can't eat breakfast till around 9-10am. As everyone else has suggested, just take it slow.

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"

I'm 5lbs away! I may reconsider my goal once I get there!
  11. I can't eat broccoli but for now I can tolerate hard boiled eggs, if I eat them really slow. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using LapBandTalk
  12. 2 weeks until my 1 year bandiversary! 5lbs until goal! I've included a pic of me in my wedding dress on June 30th. My Husband and I renewed our vows and had the wedding we never had after 13 years! I can't say I would have been thrilled this time last year to look at wedding pics!

    Loose Skin...Tips?

I have lost 92lbs so far and I feel like I'm trying everything to tighten my loose skin! Ab exercises, exfoliating, firming lotions and now I'm going to try dry brushing My dry brush just came in the mail yesterday! Has anyone ever tried this? Your results? I don't qualify for a tummy tuck according to my insurance and I'm understanding to that. It's really for my own self image and I have seen severe cases.I consider my loose skin minimal and I have had 4 children but there must be something besides surgery that can help. Please share what has worked for you. Thanks!!
  17. Last week was my 5th appointment of my insurance required 6 month supervised diet! It went by really fast after having all the required testing! I was required to have an upper GI, pelvic ultrasound, chest xray, echocardiogram, ekg, nuclear stress test, home and lab sleep study, pulmonary function test, abdominal ultrasound, two nutrition consults, 2 psychiatry visits, pulmonary consult and a cardiology consult! Wow! It made the time fly by and now I am just waiting for my July 2nd pre-op visit and my surgery is scheduled for August 1st! My pre op diet starts July 18th and I will be on the Optifast program. It will consist of shakes, bars and soups, 6 times a day. My birthday is August 17th so I will probably just be starting mushies but this will be the best gift I can give myself! I can't wait to be banded! Is anyone else scheduled for August?
  18. It's hard for me to believe that I have lost 92lbs since beginning this journey in February 2012! I lost 30lbs before surgery just by starting to exercise and make better food choices and 62lbs since my lapband surgery August 1, 2012. I have to say this is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I have a completely different relationship with food. I went from a size 16-18 to a size 4-6. I am 6lbs away from my goal and although these last few pounds seem like they are taking forever, I am so happy with my results. It's not easy but it's so worth it!
  19. @Jennifer...I eat about 1200 calories a day and log everything into myfitnesspal. I try to exercise at least 3 times a week, weights and cardio. Things have slowed down a bit but I'm going to start training for a summer 5k so maybe things will pick up and I'll reach goal soon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using LapBandTalk
  20. So close to that normal BMI!

    help. I hit a 1 Month plateau

I've only lost 8lbs in the last few months. It's definitely taking longer as I get closer to goal. Good luck!

    So thoughtful....

It's so much easier when you have support! I had to do optifast which included shakes, bars and soup. My Husband would eat soup for dinner with me. Makes all the difference!
  23. Hard to believe...I've lost 90lbs!
