  1. im so restless all night that im all over the place. lol. but, it was a few nights, even a full week before i felt comfy on my tummy. i dont sleep on my tummy but like to just lay on it a while. How on earth could you sleep forcing yourself to lay on your back? it would be hard Im thinking.
  2. im praying for you. what a bummer this is.. praying that its not a slip . let us know as soon as you can... ((( hugs ))
  3. how did you prepare the cottage cheese and egg salad?? i would like to make some for myself when im on pureed. im making notes all the time.
  4. Elizabeth.. how awful and how unprofessional can one get?? they would have known that what they said wasnt a private conversation. If it were me.. sorry. i would have had a real go at him, and the others as well. Im glad that you are taking this reasonably well. i think its appalling ethics myself. Patient confidentiality is paramount, no matter what you are having done. Its a good job that you are being banded elsewhere. Ive not told anyone apart from my husband.. who had to know, and my youngest daughter who knows how to keep confidentiality. Anyone else?? no way. i live in a small town as well where everyone knows everyone elses business. I wasnt really obese, just over weight. However i had really bad joint issues ... osteo arthritis. It was crippling me. Lots of joint sugeries over the years. Also fluctuating blood pressure which was unstable and making me ill. when people see me out and about they know ive put on weight but im not classed as being obese. but, having said that, my general health was in a bad way. No one seeing me out would know this. So.. if anyone knew of my surgery i know what the talk would be... and it wouldnt be constructive, thats for sure. I hate gossip. i dont gossip in our home or elsewhere. what others do with their lives is their business. I expect them to have the same respect for me... but of course they dont and wouldnt. I think this is why i would react to a dr if he was out of line like yours was. I hope im not venting too much. Small towns and gossip is one of my pet hates. lol.
  5. its brilliant.. !!
  6. thanks for this. i would have to try and get it in a soft cover i think.... i will check it out.
  7. now this IS interesting. lol.. Our barometric pressure has just dropped to billio... its very gusty wind and showers here. Im suffering with gas in my left shoulder today. it hasnt been around in a while. Im 17 days post op now.
  8. Eliz... im so sorry this has happened to you... but it is better to have appendix out of the way first. you dont want anything to complicate your recovery from band surgery. Im in Australia, so im not a ''springer'' im a '' autumner''.. lol.. it doesnt matter in the least. im looking foward to all your posts as well as everyone elses.... you will learn a lot more over the extra time that has been given you. I hope that your recovery from this is very fast.
  9. what sort of pureed foods are you enjoying now?? its a good question you asked. im interested to know what my family can enjoy with me as well. I dont have any more ideas to share right now. One week out from surgery is soon for Pureed foods... im over two weeks and have to be very careful about what im introducing. ive overdone it with my soups. put too much into them, even though they are still liquid, i think they were too spicy. Anyway, what have you been enjoying so far?? im looking forward to more solids myself.
  10. its a fantastic article... ive just written down some notes on it. thanks for sharing this with us.
  11. this is so true... and thanks for putting in these wonderful scriptures. i appreciate them. judy
  12. what a great idea that system was in place to make things easier. i imagine it must be time consuming coming back across the border. Im in Australia. I was thinking of going to Mexico for the surgery from here if i couldnt get a referral here.. fortunately i got one here. The biggest drawback for me would have been trying to maintain with fills. Our city isnt all that big. not that many drs here who do lapband.
  13. i was under the impression that with liquids you could drink more frequently. its the solids and the thicker liiquids that you need to wait after having. is this right, those of you out there?? im still a newbie.
  14. congratulations !! now you will feel better each day. How was the trip?? did you find it was easy coming home?
  15. JanB23... i have been wearing size 18 as well. i dont have any trousers here that would be any other size. Im so pleased that you are losing weight. I need to ask everyone. Who has a swollen tummy in the afternoon with more gas?? anyone? my trousers are o.k... elastic waist of a morning but after lunch it swells up, gets some pain and i have lots of gas. i feel like getting into my nightie in the afternoons. Anyone else here have the same problems?
  16. can i ask?? what is couch to 5kg program?? im clueless. lol. by the way, what a fantastic effort youve made.... way to go.
  17. wow...that is so good. as you are telling us about it im imagining myself in the same situation and loving it. lol Im an aussie...i wonder what the differences are between american and aussie sizes.??
  18. dont beat yourself up... it does happen to most of us. ive got a few tips here... im new at the game myself but im two weeks out and ive found ways to stop the hunger.i use mostly beef consomme. i add to that ...medium salsa, small amount of cooked potato, very small amount of cooked carrot, sometimes i add some babyfood. i add sliced tomatoes, tomato paste as well. i add sometimes as little chilli... mild not hot. i then blend all this up until its smooth. If family have had cooked veges i will add just a tiny amount as well... it makes a great soup... with enough flavour that i can put my spoon down and still savour that taste in my mouth. with the Protein smoothies im using greek yoghurt, quite a bit of that, skim milk, Protein powder, sometimes some coffee. now im into my second week, of a night, after ive had my soup, i make up a protein smoothie with cooked apricots or raspberries.. greek yoghurt, skim milk and protein powder. im not having any issues with hunger now. i hope you find recipes that will help you out as well.
  19. amandacoop i dont understand it either. i know that the pouch has to heal after surgery... but really, how long does it take? there is a huge difference in protocols with graduating from liquids to solids.
  20. honk.. that was a huge amount of weight that you lost pre op. how long a period was that over?? well done !!
  21. how do you make the spagetti sauce thing?? no noodles at all?? can you tell me what you do please?? thanks.
  22. thats pretty good weight loss it is hard post op trying to just stay on liquids. ive been borderline... putting various veges, whatever in my soups. i could only just get them through a straw. i did mention to the dr what i was doing and he wasnt concerned though. i m having slightly more solids blended in with the protein etc... and in soups as well... but they are basically still liquids. i have good days and not so good days. Are you still hungry??
  23. Thank you for this. im going to get a card of appreciation for the dr and staff as well....
  24. ..what a thoughtful ,generous thing to do. i reckon they will remember you with fondness. its really sweet of you.
