  1. boy.. youre doing it tough.. i hope youre feeling better real soon.
  2. it is exciting for you.. im sure things will work out well. try not to be anxious about it. congrats on getting this breakthru.
  3. ..its very important ,especially considering the nature of the surgery . i had an appointment with my anaesthesia specialist and we spent over half an hour just talking about nausea and preventing it. i did have some yukky moments after waking from surgery but it was soon dealt with, as the drugs were on hand to put straight into my IV... so it pays to talk it out with your anaesthesiest beforehand. Then they are fully prepared with the best they have to help you.
  4. thank you so much ev... this is an important share. i will remember it.
  5. ....more ... are we 75 strong ???OMG... lol.. just think of the wealth of information thats going to keep coming our way... fantastic.
  6. and what a marvellous way to describe it. thanks for that. im going to remember it. i think it describes our journey beautifully.
  7. ..and how wonderful is this?? to be able to water ski again. ive got memories ... ((sigh )). i guess i havent thought too hard about the extra things i can do.. mainly because ive had such a bad run for so many decades now of arthritis.. but, when i think of it.. i want to swim again regularly, be able to ride a bike everyday.. now, im going to swim when my tummy has healed but hadnt thought of a bike. im goign to talk with hubbie and trying one out. WAY TO GO ... lol..
  8. isnt is marvellous how you change??and its great. i reckon you are pleased. ive got choc flavor protein, and i always have greek yoghurt ,decaf coffee and skim milk in it as well. thats plenty sweet enough for me.i guess ive always been lucky though, ive never had a sweet tooth. weve had all sorts of sweet goodies on the table and ive not been interested . i crave more flavour with my soups. im using some mod salsa, garlic powder, lemon juice, things like that . this is what i crave more. im hoping that i can have these things when im on solids. i used to have hot chilli everyday but not sure now about all that.
  9. thats great. what a gift, eh?? lol. were you very far post op ?? or was it the first week?
  10. hi Katy.. i was done on the 22nd and i have exactly the same as you. in fact i have three large rolls now, more swollen on one side than the other. lol.. not the best sight in the world. there doesnt appear to be much sign of my stomach going down yet i wonder how long it will take?? its bulging even more over my waist, which is elastic.
  11. with good reason... its one of the most exciting journeys you will take. good luck with it all.. and enjoy your vacation.
  12. yes it will. your dry mouth is some dehydration and you would have had, have a drip in to help combat that. also the ice to such helps a lot. sometimes the taste buds get temporarily ''stuffed up'' but it doesnt last long. when i came back from surgery i had the awful mouth and everything i had in the way of liquids and ice was ''salty'. it was the staff that told me about the taste buds. i had the salty thing for about two days and it left.
  13. hi papoose.. i had a post partum blood clot in my leg as well.. but that was forty years ago now. however, every surgery means i have a course of treatment. thanks for the advice.. .i am waiting on milk of magnesia to come in the post. hopefully in a few days now.
  14. armymum..thats a fair while out from surgery for issues. i hear you about milk of magnesia. i tried everywhere to buy it here and couldnt find it, so i had to buy it online from America. isnt that just so rediculous?/ im sure its available but its finding it and if its not online i have no hope of doing that. im hoping to get my order next week. perhaps its me having the same issues then?? i did wonder. im still getting some gas in my bowel. its a bit hard to know, isnt it. anyway im glad im getting the milk of magnesia. i just cant understand why a great med like that would be taken off most shelves here. it doesnt make sense.
  15. just marvellous im really looking foward to smaller trousers.
  16. Jen... how marvellous. isnt it worth it when things like this happen to you?? no trouble finding a vein.. thats just great.using a normal sized b/p cuff was great as well. i know how elated you must have felt.i had my visit with my referring dr today. i got congratulations all round from her. it was well worth last week'ssurgery just to hear her today.
  17. robertviper... congratulations.. what a wonderful effort. i had surgery the same day as you... ahead because im an australian. did you have a pre op diet?? i didnt. ive lost about 12 lbs so far. for me, today was the first day ive been without gas pain. i actually went all day without any.. i hope it keeps up. that should read... because i live in australia i was ahead of you.. sorry. lol.
  18. you are right. i cant take any opiate products, i get more ill each time i have them.
  19. lellow..so you are having them as well?? i hope its regular. its a great feeling. im waking up with it and today for the first time it went right through the day. even with the tedium of travelling... having to watch my hubbie eat a place of fries, lol, and shopping. it was great. im glad to hear that others have it as well. What a bonus. Incidentally, i had a visit with my referring dr today. she was most impressed and congratulated me on my progress.. especially knowing how bad my feet and lower legs were. So, that was great to hear. My blood pressure is down from 147/80 to 130/70.. for the first time in years. This week has been crucial in changing things for me.
  20. you are so right... its so exciting.
  21. Hi everyone.. im 8 days post op .... and im as high as a kite.. lol... i feel like physically i could go forever, and emotionally as well?? its like being on a drug?? which im not.. lol... whats happening to me??? has anyone else had this experience?? its quite strong. im losing all hunger pains now. i guess my stomach is starting to shrink... but boy, im high. lol. not that im complaining, ive never felt this good in years ... lol.
  22. maryjoann.. how exciting. i hope you managed to get some sleep....
  23. ohhh yuk??... lol.. a weird experience....
  24. out of everything you have mentioned here i think the fact that you are lifting your 2 year old child is the most worrying.. no matter how you feel, it takes up to six weeks for tissues to heal and for everything to be secure. there are differences on this forum from a lot of drs about post op diet. i dont think its a big issue.. its the lifting thats the worry.
  25. good on you nightshiftnurse.. way to go. what are you taking for the ga?? anything?/ did you have a hiatus hernia as well?
