Is It Okay To Start The Preop Diet A Week Early?
On today, I had my pretest and it appears everything is okay and place. The documents i received stated that I should start the PreOp Diet two weeks before surgery to ensure my liver has shrunk. Would it be harmful if i started a week early? I want to make sure that my liver is small enough to move and won't cause any problems during the procedure. Please help!!!

Feeling Overwhelmed
Well I can't believe my bariatric coordinator just called and went over everything. She apologized because my process was real quick so she is trying to get everything in order for my April 2nd date. She told me everything I need for my PreOp Diet and I almost hit the FLOOR. This thing said no meat for two weeks....LORD HELP ME! But now since she has given me all the information I need, I am ready to rock and roll.

Feeling Overwhelmed
Just two weeks ago, I was excited about getting the approval and now that I have it, the feeling of being overwhelmed is setting in. My Pre-Test is in the morning at 8am and I haven't gotten all the information. I don't want to seem a pest to my bariatric coordinator, but I haven't received any information and she stated she mailed the document. I'm trying to be calm but i feel overwhelmed.

Preop Diet - When Should I Start?
Hello everyone. There is a question since I haven't received any information. Since my surgery is April 2nd, when and how should I start the PreOp Diet. My bariatric coordinator stated I should have received something in the mail, but nothing is there. If you could help, that would be great.

April 2Nd Is The Day My Life Will Change......surgery Day!!!
Thank you all very much. I will take this all into account and I am so blessed to have such a supportive husband...don't know what I would do without him. Right now we will be trying out protein shakes to see how good they are. This might become a staple in our family to have one protein drink a day together.

Protein Shakes - Where Can I Find Good Ones?
Hello to my fellow Springers. I have been scheduled for an April 2nd surgery date and just trying to wrap my head around everything. Right now, the only thing I have to do is schedule a PreTest (Blood work) and a PreOp Appointment; not sure why a Pschy Eval. nor Nutritionist visit isn't required. However, I am going to schedule a nutritionist visit on my own before the surgery. My bariatric coordinator has been really helpful and even tell me about the PreOp Diet that I will have to do two weeks before the surgery. She even informed me that I will have to get in between 40 and 60 grams of Protein in within that first six weeks. Therefore, I was wondering if you can tell me where I can get great protein shakes because this will be new to me and I will need the support.

April 2Nd Is The Day My Life Will Change......surgery Day!!!
If you only knew how much excitement I have right now you wouldn't even imagine. I have been confirmed to join the land of LapBand on April 2nd at 7:30am. This has been a true test of patience but I will do it and not take one day lightly. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and the best part is my cost is only $37 dollars...what a blessing. Now, I have my Pre Test on next week and PreOp Appointment on March 28th. How should I prepare?

When Will It Happen???
Another day in which I am just thankful to be alive. Even with the thought of knowing I was approved and haven't heard from my surgeon had me depressed; however my husband said it best by saying you are waiting now but the end result is sweet. It will be a sweet day when i can start the life i always wanted. i will not allow this weight or waiting on surgery to change my life. On today, I will start eating healthy in preparation for the lifetime committment that will be before me. Right now I am thinking about a bucket list once i get healthy and skinny. Any suggestions?

Tricare Prime--Question
My husband is on Tricare Standard and is required to do the six months weight loss seminars but there was no record with his PCP. However, with me doing a WLS for 1 year (2009 to 2010) I was approved immediately by Tricare Standard South. Even thought I have been approved by Tricare, I am still awaiting for the word from my surgeon. Trust me, I want this to hurry as much as possible but I am going to just be patient because now I am trying to prepare my mind, body and soul for this new journey I am about to embark upon in my life.

Insurance Approval
As I type this there are tears in my eyes. I took it upon myself to call my insurance company and found out I was approved and all I can say is "Thank You Lord". Look at the authorization from my insurance, I can't have the surgery until March 22, 2012 and there is a six month window for the procedure. My nerves are running wild right now because now I am afraid but I know the Lord will give me the strength to do this. What a day to remember!!!

Another Day
On yesterday, I called my insurance company (Tricare) to ask a few questions regarding the requirements of the surgery. Of course, I knew the answers for a portion but wasn't sure about the hospitalization. During the conversation, the representative informed me that my surgeon actually submitted the paperwork that morning and it was in pending status. What i felt yesterday was a little relieve since I have been in the 200's the majority of my adult life. Being a wife and mother, i just want the healthy lifestyle of bein beneficial to myself and my family. With a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks and high cholesterol, it is time for me to be concerned about my health. My father passed at 44 from a massive heart attack along wiith diabetes and kidney failure. It hurts my heart each day because I don't want to leave my family so young like my father who I loved dearly. So this entire journey and process has so many values to me and i am just going to be patient and learn it is a lifetime committment to be a better me.
