  1. this made me smile as i recall being there. being the different one, i will say make a different list of your cans..(what you can do) and some cans are positive attitudes, listening to your body and doctor and accepting that at the beginning to let the band heal..imagine how terrific you will be this time next year congrats on your surgery thursday
  2. i think if someone has lost 25 pounds or over 100 or more or somewhere in between, that is a success story...what is a success is eating better foods, becoming more mobile and living life...this is what being a success means to me. i read on here of people stopping medications that they were on because of their weight or being able to walk again (me for example) and that to me again screams success. there is no dieting *or shouldnt be* with having a band. you eat foods in smaller amounts....the band will help with that (esp after fills) but you def have to change your mind set from i cant this and i cant that to yes i CAN and from i need will power to i have WANT power. want to lose weight bad enough to actually do something about it. and when you make up your mind to do that, that is success to me.
  3. sounds like you are doing okay.......sometimes the scale doesnt move as fast as you want it too but that does not mean your surgery and your excellent eating habits are in vain...look at the big picture....with you exercising and eating better, are you feeling better? are your clothes looser? i mean those are wonderful signs that the band is working... stop comparing to your brother. that is him and you are you. you will not lose like me or your brother or elvis. you will lose as yourself..so leave the comparison shopping for the grocery stores. eat good foods in your allotted amounts eat lean Proteins, veggies and fruit and drink alot and exercise and your health and life will be the better for it. as for what cals you need or dont need, ask a nutritionist as they can advise you better than anyone on this forum. but what i do know is that if you take in more calories than you burn off, you will gain or *not lose* wishing you all the best MD as always and those are my thoughts/opinions
  4. well, you get back to what you were doing before by just doing it. that means eating your allotted amount for the band (1 cup)....eating lean Proteins, veggies and fruit and drinking alot (and adding exercise will just put you over the moon)....sure we all go through the easier to eat out than prepare a meal stage, but what is important is you making healthier choices. this is about YOU. you are worth it. now you need to believe it...so start over today. right now....there is no cant.......there is only can. i wish you all the success in the world
  5. what a wonderful wonderful post love reading these type success stories
  6. and here in the last week, reasons you can instead of why you cant
  7. and find that want power
  8. i do say that alot dont i maddawg, it is what it is........
  9. accept what the big ole jolly rancher gives us and move on the best we know how
  10. yeah...It is what it is.........
  11. or little (lock and locks) i got the cutest ones on QVC but you can also just cook your portion size..that helps with leftovers.. i also find my dobermans love eating the left overs
  12. ever have one of them days when you go, gosh i sure wish i had my bath and was in bed already?..that is the type of day i am having today. in my past i would have stopped and got some yummy fast food and ate myself into full tummy and think this will make all feel better...... now i am looking forward to a hot bubble bath, read a few chapters in a new book i am about to start tonight and climb into clean (gain smelling) sheets...... maybe today isnt as bad as i thought after all
  13. before i got my head into the game, i would have said this and that and this and so on....but now i realize that no food is off limits (as long as you eat your portions) i realize i dont miss much...and that so good yum food i missed wasnt all that good for me....i do miss coors light however.
  14. it did to me (when i drank them too fast) and once hub made me a double shot and did not tell me and talk about a close call .......phew....
  15. jim...ingnorant people are just ignorant. i am so sorry some mindless thinking people posted thoughtless things. sometimes people just say things that are better left unsaid. i wish i could take it away and make you feel better. i love ya.
  16. before i forget, if you do open things in a can or even frozen, you can rinse them in a collander and remove any excess.....
  17. like the other poster, did not want my insides (changed from what they were) that being said, my dr advised me no matter what WLS i choose, it would not be an easy fix/cure all and that i would have to change my eating, my moving, and my mental to make this work...so far so good. why did you get the band rhonda?
  18. hi hel i try not to (eat/use) any sodium (as much as i possibly can anyhow). since i eat fresh veggies (i can control the salt levels) and also on meats that we use....i know when i eat sodium (in my past with processed items, my feet/ankles would swell and def feel sluggish..but by reading labels, you can find variations with low sodium and sodium free items..but from i know, boxed items and fast food have alot..since i stopped eating those things from june, i noticed a huge difference.
  19. even though the scale may not be showing a loss as fast your wanting it, just by you doing what you are suppose to, I am sure the inches are just falling off and not to mention your body loving you for it. keep your eye on the prize. better health.
  20. jeannie will fill you in on both..she will respond tomorrow
  21. i think with either, you will have to change how and what you eat to make these tools work.
  22. i will tell my friend jean who had the band and was successful then had to revise to the sleeve. i will ask her to respond to this thread...the revision had nothing to do with the band FYI
  23. to be a failure, you have to stop trying......so dont stop trying eat better quality foods in your allotted amount, drink alot and the hardest thing, want it....no more reasons why you cant, only reasons you can you got this
