I never had a problem with my weight until I got married the first time at 19 years old. I got comfortable in my relationship and we stopped going to the bar to dance every night, so there went my exercise! When we separated in 2003, I weighed 215 lbs (I weighed 145 when I got married). I started going to the gym every morning before work (5 days a week). I would walk the indoor track for one mile and then I did my own exercise regimen in the pool for 30 minutes. I didn't "watch" what I ate. Instead, I bought portion control plates, the kind that had three sections (a large section for the main dish, and two smaller sections for sides/veggies) and that is what I used to eat from. I drank maybe a glass of water a day and had one diet soda with dinner.

Fast forward 6 months later, May 2003, I had lost 30 lbs and met my current husband. I maintained 185 for about a year and then I slowly crept back up to 215 again. When my husband went from the Navy to the Army, I tried Weight Watchers for the first time. I lost maybe 15 lbs. By the time I got pregnant in 2006, I weighed in at 225. Thankfully I only gained 17 lbs during my pregnancy and after I had my twins, I weighed 214 leaving the hospital. I didn't breastfeed, so I didn't get the advantage of those extra calorie burns! :)

I tried Weight Watchers again in 2008 along with my mother. At our first weigh in, I weighed 233. I lost 52 lbs in 6 months, down to 181 lbs!!! It was wonderful and I should have kept going. I felt amazing and my skin was damn near perfect! I have no idea what happened. Honestly. I just stopped exercising and went back to my old eating habits. All of that weight came back plus a whole lot more!

I fluctuated for awhile between 233 and 255. Even going to Zumba 4-5 times a week and sweating my butt off, I never lost more than 20 lbs. All because I couldn't make the right food choices. I ate out a lot. I would eat late and then go straight to bed. I would normally skip breakfast and then be famished by lunch time, so much that a Smart Ones sure didn't sound appetizing.

Which brings us up to July 2012 and my decision to get lap band surgery. I had the surgery on September 10, 2012 and topped the scales at 289. I am 4 months out and have only lost 12 lbs. But that is due to my own failures. I haven't been following the rules. I have only had one fill. I haven't been exercising. I feel like I'm ready to get back on track and make this tool work for me. Next fill will be in February, probably another 2cc's, so I will be at a total of 4cc's. I'm not sure how large my band is though.
