21lbs/7wks........that is 3lbs a week. Losing weight too fast will not result in permanent loss. 3lbs a week is GREAT. If you keep that up you would be down 156lbs in a year. As long as your loss is steady I wouldn't worry. Expecting more than 3lbs a week is really pushing it. The band is meant to be a tool for life...steady loss equals permanent loss.
    Just my opinion.

The moderator in that group bashing bands needs to be reported. There should never be bashing or anything negative about any members procedure in a support group at all. I suggest you do two things. 1. Report the behavior to the sponsor of the group and 2. FIND ANOTHER GROUP.

Congrats to all the March bandsters who have made it to the other side! I got my surgery time 0730 this Friday!! I am getting pre-op jitters. I teach this stuff to nursing students but as the patient it takes on a whole new meaning. My fiance is fantastic though, so supportive, so encouraging, a true partner in my lifes journey. He has decided to try any and everything new in my diet. We only live 15 minutes from the surgery center so I don't have to get up too early. I have to be there at 0630 and since I don't need makeup or a hair style, it should be up at 6 and out the door LOL.
We spent the weekend trying the various Protein shakes. Gold Standard by far the best tasting, choc van and straw and far better in milk vs Water . As for those with fruit punch, straw. kiwi.........YUK
Off to teach seniors about Diabetes.............should I assume they have read the chapter???? Probably NOT

B- minus 11 hours......Yes, folks, I have 11 hours until I have to be at the hospital for my surgery!
I have to be at Palms of Pasadena Hospital on St Pete Beach/ Gulfport tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. I am 4th in line for the surgery. I am so nervous I don't know what to do with myself. I haven't had my last supper yet, but I will soon. Have packed my little bag and am almost ready to roll. It takes an hour to get to the hospital so my son Tommy is going to sleep over and drive me down there in the morning. Alarm is set for 5:00 a.m.

    Wish me luck everyone!!!!!!!! !

I'm looking at a a likely complication just under 4 years from being banded. I am going for an endoscopy tomorrow to determine if I have a leak or an erosion.
I don't know how common this is, so won't even talk about statistics but I will say this. WHATEVER it turns out to be, I do not regret getting the band. I lost 130% of my excess weight with my lapband, and as a result, am now low risk for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, in fact all the things that my family has a significant history of.
I have spent the last 3 + year running around with my 5yo son, I have cycled 40kms easily, I have worn the tiniest bikinis and the most beautiful dresses, and I have learnt more about eating well, exercising and hunger than I would have ever learnt without my band.
Even if I lose my band, I cannot regret getting banded. So long term complication or not, I would have done it all again in a hearbeat,

Thanks so much! I did receive approval from insurance already, but there was some wording in the letter that made me think they would be checking in again to make sure the surgery was still medically necessary. This is my first surgery so I'm nervous about following everything to the T.

    Hello
My name is Sandi but I go by D. I just joined LPT today. We attended a seminar last Saturday but had already done lots of research and were sure this was the right surgery. I had my pre-op screening, EKG, Pulmonary function test, and lab work this week. I am having an EGD on Monday to see if I have a Hiatal Herina, if so my insurance will pay for that surgery and my band will be half price. My insurance BCBS of OK, has an all out ban on any bariatric surgery Foolish really, as the long-term benefits are so positive. We attended a seminar last Saturday but had already done lots of research and were sure this was the right surgery. My surgery is scheduled for March 2nd and I am so excited. I look forward to sharing my progress and learning about others, good and bad. It is clear by reading the posts that there is no clear expectation of "typical" weight loss. That just reinforces the fact that this is a "process" not a "procedure"! My biggest issue will be giving up Diet Coke, breads, and Pasta.< /p>

I love the low carb slim fast shakes as well! The first few days after surgery we actually added Protein Powder to our slim fast shakes so we could get all of our Protein in. My husband and I did this together as well. We are 7 weeks post op, I've lost 41 and he's lost close to 60. I think doing it together makes it so much easier. Good luck to both of you.
