Now for the real though Love..... This is about you and only you. You have got to get your head in the game. I hate that your family is treating you this way!!! Its awfull...BUT there will ALWAYS be SOMEONE or SOMETHING blocking your road to success!! You just need to kick them out of the way!! If you kick hard enough they move!!!
You are only 2 weeks postop!!! Why in the world are you self sabotaging yourself!!! I call it that because it wasn't a small infraction in a weak moment....but you spent 5 HOURS working to get down a sonic sandwich!!! Thats self sabotage---not just hunger!! So why are you self sabotaging?
If your family insists on eating stuff you can't have in front you ....so be it. They didn't make this decision...YOU DID!! Now Stand by it!!
My family was considerate of my feelings....too appoint. But they would still eat the good stuff without me. In fact it was all homemade because I prepared meals ahead of time for them. But I would have to be in the other room whole they ate.
The first few weeks are hard..I was still on liquids after 2 weeks. I was starving too.I understand being hungry but you don't need to be eating sonic sandwiches.......at least find something that won't cause premanent damage!! Try some puree's or some thin mushies.....
I know it sounds like I'm fussing, I don't mean too. I just know that you probably want this as much as I did and I would hate for anyone to mess something up before they even get a chance to use it.
Hold your head high!! You have been given a chance that has the possibility of changing your life!!---IF you do your part!!! So forget about yesterday there is nothing you can do about that....start right now!! Recommitt yourself to this journey!!! To follow the rules!!!plug into this site for your encouragement.....find someone on here that is willing to encourage you when you need it and hold you accountable when neccesary!!
You can do this!!! You are not a failure unless you say you are!!!

This is some tough love coming your way , so be prepared ! Im sorry you have to go thru this with no support at home, but hey , you'll get lots of support here ! You have to remember WHY you got banded in the first place. It was'nt to get others healthy and strong, it was to get your self healthy and strong. "Others" are not responsible for your past or future weight . (You are , and you CAN do this ! ) They may be childish, immature or irresponsible with the way they are treating you, but nobody is eating that food but you ! So get back to your Drs orders and while it does take time ,work and patience, the band DOES work, and you will see results ! Ask yourself where you want to be in 6 months and suddenly that junk food doesnt look so good ! The band doesnt take away cravings , you just cant eat as much, you have to make better choices , and exercise. my dr agreed that if i followed the rules 95 % of the time i would be good to go . Ive lost 37 lbs in 6 months. so where do you want to be in 6 months ? Good luck, you can do this !!

    1. How long have you been banded?
    13 months
    2. How much weight did want to lose?
I didn't have a specific amount in mind. I just knew that I was morbidly obese and had to do something urgently and permanently.
    3. How much weight have you lost?
    62kg, approx 135lb
    4. How happy are you that you have been banded: scale of 1-10 (1 being regretful, 10 being elated)
    12
Seriously, this has been the best think I have done for my health and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I needed to. Out cycling with friends this morning (yes, happily, willingly, voluntarily exercising), I told a friend that I had lost weight in the past but had always known that I would put it back on. The difference this time is that I know I will never regain that weight.

Very well said summrsue! I lost about a lb a day until I started eating softy food, then I gained 4 lbs. It was hard but I also have to tell myself that I haven't had a fill yet. I know it's a personal decision but for me it was the right one. As far as reading all the failures, I choose to focus on the positive input and successes from SO many on this site. Yes, there are risks, yes I know it doesn't work for some but it WILL work for me. I decided that with as much certainty as getting banded.
As far as not eating for 2 wks after... it's really not that bad. Honestly, the first week or so, I didn't want to eat. Now, I eat very little and I'm content. NOT starving.
Again it's a personal decision but know that cold feet are normal.

Those thoughts happen to most of us. I had a complete breakdown the day before my surgery. Almost called it off. I've only lost 5 lbs since surgery two weeks ago, but I'm hopeful the scale will start to drop soon. Either way, even if my band doesn't work well for me, at least I tried and gave it my all. If I stck to the plan I don't see how I can't lose weight. Just have to get the scale moving again. You can do this, cold feet are normal. I don't like operating from a place of fear, so make a decision that's best for you, but not because you are afraid.

Ditto for me! It's exciting to see the number of members continue to increase and to read all of the posts. This has become such an active group that I haven't been reading/posting at the other LBT forums nearly as much. Thanks, Julie, for starting this group and for being such an awesome moderator!

It doesn't sound crazy to me. In my family and among my friends, food is almost always used for celebrations, for mourning, for comfort, for get-togethers, etc., so I completely understand why you feel like you do. Cooking and baking are two of my favorite activities, and I feel like I need to replace them after surgery with something that's not food-related. I want a fresh start, yet I'm reluctant to give up the activities I enjoy the most. I've decided I am going to wait until after surgery to see how it goes. Right now, I am always hungry and consequently have little-to-no willpower around food; I am hoping that will change after surgery. Others have mentioned that they no longer desire the foods they used to or only want a few bites; hopefully, we will have the similar experiences.

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to get all my suggestions strait. Is there one tip or idea that you took from the site that you are really happy you did? Maybe any suggestions on things you wish you knew before the surgery that you could share with us yet to be banded?
    Thanks in advance....

I am officially banded! The Gas pains were tough and a little on the unbearble side immediately after. But they gave me another dose of pain meds before I left the Surgery Center and I was knocked out until a little bit ago.
I do have to say that if not for the heating pad...I would have been so miserable. But all in all...a good day and the surgery went seamless.

Mine was a lengthy but pleasant evaluation. I was told it would take about 3 hours. I first talked with the psychologist for about an hour. Although she asked several questions, she was very nice and it felt like we were simply chatting. After she finished interviewing me, she led me down the hallway to a room with computers. Next, I took an assessment on the computer (the MMPI, I think), which took about another hour.
The psychologist told me I was the ideal candidate for the lap band, which increased my confidence.

A couple of ppl have suggested I do this so here it goes. I have lost 100lbs yaaay in eight months. I honestly was at my wits end wit weightloss and thought I was stuck. Having the lapband was the best decision I ever made for myself. It has not been easy by any means and I work but butt off at the gym daily but it is worth it. For anyone that is scared of the procedure it can be done although the first few days are tough and just plain uncomfortable. Good luck to everyone on ur journey! I know mine has been worth every min pics comin soon...

    What a great post!
I want to pick a hiking trail without having to consider how many feet of vertical gain it has.
I want to be in control of managing my weight (and no longer allow my size to define me).
I want to wear impractical stilettos (sometimes) instead of my usual "blocky" heels.
I want to fit into "average" spaces without worrying about taking up someone else's space.
I want to be able to climb as many flights of stairs as I want without feeling winded.
