  1. Only piece of advice that i can give you is......... DO YOU ....... don't DO anybody else... what we all have in common is that we recognized that we needed to lose weight and did something about it. That's where, in my opinion, is where the commonality ends... EXCEPt .. we all want to cross the finish line, whether that's to lose weight or to get off medication.

Everyone's road is different, all paths are not the same.. So try not to compare yourself to someone else's success. Give people an "atta boy", mean it.. and wish them well. That's what we are here on these boards to do encourage each other when we feel discouraged, listen, when folks just want to vent.. offer advice when it's warrented...

Do you! You WILL lose weight, you WILL feel great... and you WILL succeed.. even if this takes longer than other people. I know this sounds so cliche(ish) but.. we all know that the tortise wins the race!

  2. This may happen for a while. The best thing to do , is to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk... The occassional Gas-X strips also help. I had the same problem when I was in the hospital for 2 day, and then when i came home. Finally after a few days, I was able to burp and pass gas and pass gas (sorry). But really, you have to get it to move. Some folks have recommended massaging that area where it's trapped (not too firm -but with just enough pressure). Also make sure that you aren't "drinking" anything that might be gas producing. I had to try different protein drinks until i found one that didn't make my stomach gurgle. There are probably many other recommendations, but those worked for me. So.. sip and sip and walk and walk!

  3. congrats on surviving the first week! it's something isn't it? regarding the CPAP, I read on one of these boards about making adjustments to it because there is too much air going into the stomach?? You may want to talk to your surgeon about it - or the CPAP folks to see what can be done.

what's not working with the pureed foods? Is it too filling?

  4. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! You'll be just fine. I had mine 2.5 weeks ago in Tijuana, with no problems! Didn't bring much with me either - just the essentials.. one thing to remember is ... don't drink the water! They had bottled water in the hotel and I was assured that the broth in the hotel restaurant was made with bottled water as well.

Let us know your progress - will be sending positive thoughts your way tomorrow.

  5. Hi - you story is very similar to mine! I'm schedule for surgery with Dr. Kelly on 3/9. The question I have is, what was the pre-op diet that Dr. Kelly prescribed to you. They are going to email it to me, but was wondering what it all entails. By the way, I booked through Trish, but she is no loner working for him. She said she'd still honor my committment to him, but I'm kind of bummed that they aren'yt working together. Did you have your surgery at Florence Hopsital? what was that like? DId you have all your blood work done the day you got there?
