  1. Hi! I was banded on the 19th too. I was on the liquid diet for the first week and then tried mushy food. My stomach is still off. I tried mushy's at day 5, it didn't go that great so I backed off. As of right now the only foods I have tried have been soup, yougart, squash and oatmeal. I have lost 15pounds. I am pretty active I work and 3 kids so I usually don't get to relax til probably 10pm. I haven't gotten back to the gym yet. 1st Dr. appt Tuesday.
  2. Hi! I was banded last Thursday and I have lost 19 pounds. The first post-op days were hard, but there was no desire to eat. You are right this is a tool only, and if you can keep that in the front of your mind I think I'l do good! Good luck!
  3. You look great! I can't wait to post a pic when I have lost enough wt. that you can notice! I don't have one form my highest weight which was 262. The one I have up is at about 250. I really don't like my pic taken so phtos are hard to come by! Congratulations!!!
  4. I was banded on 1/19/12 and I tried muhsies at 5 days post op and it wasn't time yet for me. I called the Dr. and he said to stay on the clear diet until my stomach gets more time to heal. I think if you follow drs instructions you'll be ok I just know my stomach never could have done it in 2 days. Plus the gas pains make you feel so fuill you really don't want to eat. I didn't feel like I had any room for food., but also listen to your own body.
  5. I would say as soon as they say you can take a bath, which was 6 weeks on my paperwork.

I went out last night for dinner for my daughters birthday and she wanted to go to a japanese restraunt and I was paniced on how and what I was going to eat. This is a restraunt they cook in front of you with other people too. So they just keep bringing the food coming. It is 5 courses. I ordered chicken broth and an appetizer I ate 1 scallop and the broth was filling. Before I would have eaten everything in the 5 courses. I split the scallop appetizer with my kids. It looked like I ordered more food then I did. I din't want to start out or offend the host as they repeated come by and ask how you like the food at each course. I made it through it! yeah!
  7. My intake was about the same and it lasted 1 week. I had no desire to eat and nothing smelled good to me. up until yesterday I was still on clear liquid my stomach needs to heal and did not like when I tried mushy food so i backed off i am going to try again tomorrow. Peppermint tea is wonderful stuff! Settles my stomach, my stomach still feels bloated from the gas they put i during surgery. Can't wait to get back to the gym and when my stomach doent feel like I was in the ring with a heavy weight fighter! It will get better. Take your time. Protein can be ard on your stomach.

Good luck! The first 4 days or so we're probably the worst but it gets better. I was banded 7 days ago and I have lost 12lbs. The best thing I ever did. Had my first food tonight and it was very good! Be patient the first days pre-op are kinda trying but it gets better pretty quick! Make sure you have plenty of gas-x in the house. Best wishes!
  9. I am only getting in 8 0z of fluid and a couple teaspoons of jello.??? day 7
  10. I am so excited for you!!! Congratulations!
  11. I am a newbie and just had my lap band just a week ago and I have lost 12pounds so far. It takes work on your part it is not a fix all. The lap band gives you a tool that helps you control your appetite. They say that the weight loss at 3 years can be equivalent to the gastric bypass at 3 years. The gastric full bypass comes with a lot of health changes as well and once you do it you cannot change it. It matters to me because of the difference in medication absorption. good luck.
  12. Constipation ( not to be gross) and water retention could be whats going on either could be the culprit.
  13. They do make a powder that is plain and that way you can blend it with fruit yourself. You really can't taste it and low fat yogart is good too! Good luck!
  14. I am 6 days post-op and I am really starting to miss food! Now I think I am beginning to challenge the mental part of this journey. I feel so full all the time..I mean like the kinda full you were after a Thanksgiving meal full! I haven't even gotten down 3 protein shake in 6 days! I can't get much at all down because of the full feeling! UGH!
  15. Congratulations! I can't wait to get into a size that starts with a 1 ! So far so good 6 days 11pounds! Thanks for sharing!
  16. I hadn't told many people before surgery just a coworker and a best friend. Right before surgery I decided to tell my Children. I have a teenage Daughter and didn't want to set what might been looked at as bad eating habit (because if she didn't know why I wasn't eating, I didn't want to set a bad example) I was in pre-op at hospital and I wouldn't have told my sister, but My Dad thought I was going in for heart surgery and he called her and I had to let her know that's not what was going on..so I just told her! My Dad is staying with me so I told him when I told the kids. MENTAL NOTE-If you do not want people to know something...Do Not....I repeat Do Not.....tell someone with intermittent Altzheimers! (That would be my Dad. Who I think he told the world, oh well cats out of the bag now! Good Luck!
  17. The two protein shakes and 1 healthy dinner is great. You can snack on sugar free jello or popsicles. If I did it, you can do it! I didn't have to do a pre-op diet either but I wanted to so that I could get a little used to what it would be like after surgery at first. Not to say I didn't enjoy a few of my favorites with in modest amounts. I don't like walking but (actually dread it!), but I definitely feel better when I do. So everything in moderation and drink, drink, drink water!!!

  19. I am soooo pleased to announce that after 6 days my gas pains are finally gone!!!!! So happy that part is over! Tried apple sauce did not go so well. 3 tsps. and a stomach ache. Going to back off to liquids tomorrow. That was my first attempt at stage 2 foods! I can wait! So pleased with the weight loss so far! Down 11 pounds since last Thursday, surgery day!
  20. Hi Flaquita 24! It will be fine. I had heart surgery just 2 months before and I did fine. The staff was great and anesthesiologist are so advanced now! You are the weight as I was when I went for my band last week on Thursday as of yesterday I weighed 229 pounds! I am so happy that I did it! You can do this, it will make your life so much more enjoyable in so many ways!
  21. Definitely say's something for your all around progress! Sorry for all you are going through. I had to go through the same thing with me Daughter at that age. We did all the test and then was told to continue to monitor it. After that she was fine. I hope all is well with your Daughter. Best wishes!
  22. I was jsut banded so I'm not sure. I did throw up on the way home and I am always someone who can talk myself out of it. I had a flu shot before surgery, because I didn't want to take the chance of getting it an throwing up with the band. If you don't have anything against getting a flu shot I would definitely do it next year. Good luck I hope you feel better!
  23. Best wishes for tomorrow! I was banded last week and didn't sleep very well the night before, but it worked out o.k. because it was easier for me to relax before the surgery because I was so tired. So it worked to my advantage! Let me know how you do! Good luck!
  24. Hi! The gas pains are KILLING me!!! Do you still have them...and I ask that bravely. I'm not sure I want to know if you do! lol
  25. Congratulations! This is the best support site, I am so glad I found it! I am working through the same things banded on 1/19. Did you have the gas pains post-op. Mine still aren't gone yet!
