  1. I definitely had this feeling when it came to my husband's surgery. I wanted him to hurry up and have it because I was tired of watching him eat all the wrong things and mass quantities of them. I wanted the surgery more for him. I knew I needed it, and I was ready. I think this feeling is just that. You're ready for the surgery. As for keeping yourself busy before, I love your list of things to do. The gym has been my favorite place to take care of myself post op and pre op. Before surgery that was the one last thing I wanted, that one last good workout before being sliced. It carried me through, but man, I'm back at it and going strong. Best of luck to you on your journey!

  2. I have good days and bad days. I like to push it to the limit when I work out and I'm only 1 month out. If I push it a couple days in a row, that third day I'm exhausted. I went to bed one night this week at 6pm. My body needed the rest. I don't know if B-Vitamins are in your regime, but they really do help me with energy. I probably take 500-2000 mg throughout the day. You don't say what you're eating, but I eat mostly protein and that seems to sustain me/give me enough energy for my workouts of cardio/strength training. I hope this helps!

  3. I'm with you on earning every pound post op. I love working out now. I've started ab work but I listen to my body, if it hurts I stop. I usually only do 50-60 crunches 2x a week. My legs have been shrinking dramatically so its everything I can do to keep them. I want to be tone too, not jiggly. I've started strength training, nothing too crazy, but I love moving weight. Congrats on all your progress!

  4. The only time I feel sick is when I eat solids too fast. I too had surgery 12/27, so we're surgeversary buddies. The other day I was eating deli meat/cheese and it was right after a workout. I was starving. I ate too fast then felt nauseous. Yep, I lost my food. I've since learned to eat slower and this has helped me keep them down. What solids are you trying to consume?

  5. Very exciting times ahead. I'm on the other side and things do get easier. Be sure to take those vitamins and get moving as soon as you can. I walked all night the night of my surgery. As for the liquid diet, try to mix it up and do just a cup of broth. It breaks up the taste buds so delightfully. My doctor allowed for one protein bar instead of a shake each day and that helped to. I missed chewing. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

  6. That is so good, i am new this site, so i was wondering if you would have some tips on how to prepare for the surgery (both physically and mentally) anything would help really.. i havent had the surgery done, but im waiting on the insurance to approve.. ..Thanks

I remember that wait. As far as physical preparation, start moving. The better in shape you are physically prior to surgery, the better. You'll need to walk soon after surgery and the stronger your core muscles are the better. You'll need those to get in and out of bed. I'm a bit of a work-out nut and I love moving weight and feeling that burn. I don't want to be jiggly and that has helped me keep losing weight post surgery. As far as mental preparation, be prepared to never feel hungry again. My stomach never growls. I no longer feel controlled by my hunger. It's a very powerful feeling. Food is no longer my enemy, its fuel. The sleeve isn't an easy way out, it's a tool. It allows you to focus on more than your hunger. It's allowed me to eat better, move more, feel better. I wish you the best of luck on your journey

  7. I am new to this site, so am not sure how to find previous posts. Did u have the sleeve or bypass?Veronica

I had the sleeve. After talking with my OB (I don't have kids yet), she advised I do the sleeve. Less risk of dumping syndrome and more time to absorb nutrients for baby. She's worked with several patients who have had the sleeve/healthy babies.

  8. I'm so glad you're on the other side. I can understand what you mean about being who you are behind the bulk. I still want to be a kind person, but just one that isn't taken advantage of. A backbone so to speak. I hope you're recovering well and that the pain you speak of in this blog has melted away. I didn't want to take my pain meds at first, but when I didn't, I didn't want to move. The pain meds kept me moving, kept me healing. I'm back at the gym and strength training. I don't want to lose all of my muscle mass that I was working towards pre-surgery.
