Feeling Sick

I had my gastic sleeve on December 27th. Ever since I have moved to solids I get sick when I eat, feels like I am having a panic attack. My heart starts racing, I get sweaty and weak, and I feel like I cant breath. I even ended up in the emergency room on Saturday night because I couldn't get it to go away. They said it was anxiety... but I dont get it... why only when I eat???. They say its similar to the dumping syndrome but I thought we werent suppoed to have that? I have tachycardia anyway and I take meds for it, the doc increased my meds but Im not real sure if its helping... im trying to watch carbs and fats but ughhh its hard... :(

Anyone having similar issues????

What kind of solids are you eating? I had my sleeve the day after you and I am on pureed foods. Cottage cheese and tuna salad are about the closest thing to regular food I eat and even then I chew it up like crazy. Did this happen before you started solid foods? Have you checked your heart rate during one of these episodes? Also, I can really only eat 1/3 cup at the most. I ate a boiled egg once and it stuck at the top of my stomach, caused a lot of pain and I ended up having to vomit. That was the only time. Other times I've had one bite too many or didn't chew quite good enough and I get a pretty bad pain. I would back off solids until you got this resolved.

Ditto to jabs comments. maybe do some deep breathing and relaxation techniques prior to first nibble...and repeat as needed.

I would slow everything down....way down...when I feel anxious, I'm usually rushing.

The only time I feel sick is when I eat solids too fast. I too had surgery 12/27, so we're surgeversary buddies. The other day I was eating deli meat/cheese and it was right after a workout. I was starving. I ate too fast then felt nauseous. Yep, I lost my food. I've since learned to eat slower and this has helped me keep them down. What solids are you trying to consume?
