What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
The Final Straw for me was going to a doctor and stepping on the scale and it hitting 540 pounds . when my mother saw the scale she looked me dead in my eyes and started crying. My mother already lost my sisters 4 years ago from complications from Multiple Sclerosis .i know when she saw that scale she saw me in a grave next to my sister. i had also been having back issues and blood pressure issues. I saw myself in a full mirror and did not recognize who i was starring at. At that point i decided that i had to do something. A Lot of people say that this is elective surgery but for me it was not elective at all. Either i have the surgery or i'm dead by the age of 30. Best decision of my life

Sorry But Bm Talk
i would get worried if you have not had a BM before this weekend hits. Stool softener should help. Anesthesia can cause constipation after surgery. If no BM by this weekend than i would take miralax and call you doctors office

Welcome to the site bro. there are men here we are just out numbered. i would guess that women probably have this surgery more than men. when i went to the seminar last year it was 3 women to each man. This is a great site for men and women. the man room is here. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/50-the-man-room/

How Long Off Work For An Office Job?
I would say to take 2 weeks. i took 16 days total. my STD was the same. i felt better after a week but i did have to be readmitted for dehydration after a week of being home. i would say plan for 2 weeks and if you do fine the first week you can always go back early as long as the doctor approves.

How Did You Feel The Day Of Surgery?
First words when i woke up from surgery was FML. so much pain, nasua, gas pains and soreness. It got better each day though.

Hungry?!
acid re-flux can give you a hunger type feeling. most Sleeve patients are sent home on pepcid to counter act this. Also head hunger can be apart of this. Head hunger is more of a mental craving than a physical craving.

When Will I Stop Regretting Having This Done?
Skane10 are you currently on blood pressure medicine? i had to be taken off 2 months after my surgery. low blood pressure can cause sever fatigue. if you are on blood pressure medicine talk to your doctor about reducing the dose or discontinuing it all together.

Swallowing
The feeling will pass. right after surgery your stomach is still healing so you can feel everything. try drinking things at different temperatures to combat that. some people say that cold drinks help, some people prefer warm or hot drinks. i prefer room temperature. Totally normal , nothing to worry about.

Guys - Be Honest Please.
Day of surgery my overall discomfort and pain was 10/10. severe Pain, severe nasua, bloated feeling, sore back and throat made it 10/10. the first words when i came too was FML. but with morphine and the reduced bloating it came down to a 5 by day 2. Day 3 it came down to 4. when i was discharged it was around a 3, more soreness than pain. Just and FYI , when coughing, sneezing or laughing after surgery you want to brace your stomach to reduce the pain.

Obese After Sleeve?
I am down 152 pounds since i had my surgery 10 months ago. I am currently 338 pounds. i am 202 pounds down overall. i am still technically obese but i am still healthier than i was. no more sleep apnea, back pain and no more high blood pressure. The BMI is a general tool used to calculate what is supposed to be normal. i am 6 foot 4 and have pretty wide shoulders. if i got down to 220 pounds i would look like i had a eating disorder. The doctor is basing that quote from the national averages of sleeve patients, some people lose more some people lose less. Even if you are still obese, i promise that you will still be healthier.

When Will I Stop Regretting Having This Done?
Fatigue can be a sign of protein deficiency and or dehydration . how much protein and water are you getting a day? the most dangerous thing that you need to watch out for is dehydration and also protein deficiency. both can make u feel like crap. if you need fluids call your doctor. i had to be admit-ed back into the hospital after a week due to dehydration. spent 3 days in the hospital getting fluids. I was so dehydrated the thought that i might have had kidney failure. i stopped regretting surgery after about a month. This surgery is a life changing experience and it requires a lot of life style changes. Stay strong and stay positive, you are doing great !
