  1. People notice the change but most will not say anything about it. Weight is a touchy subject. When you lose 40 pounds it is noticeable. Also when you are around people daily the change is not so drastic. i know if you encounter someone you haven't seen in a while they will notice a change. i showed some co-workers some before and after pics and they were all like " i dont remember you being that big"
  2. i exercise as much as possible. i try to work my legs more than anything. they are the largest muscles on your body so they burn more calories. i try to work out at least 3 times a week.
  3. good job keep up the good work!
  4. I discovered that i was at my highest weight at the doctors office. i stepped on the scale and it read 540 pounds. My mom was with me and broke down into tears and started crying. My mom already lost my sister at the age of 26 and when she saw 540 she could not take it. The good news is that once you have this surgery you will never see that weight again. good luck and stay positive
  5. Thanks, im sure you will hit your goal sooner than later.
  6. i used STD but i was forced to use all my vacation before they would pay me. good thing was that i had already used all my vacation.
  7. I haven't been on here in a while so i decided to give an update. I have lost almost 180 pounds from my highest weight (540 pounds). i am 361 as of today 6/16/12.It been a rocky road but it was well worth it. I had to learn a lot about myself and had to deal with some personal issues. its always easy to judge other people but when you have to judge yourself its like pulling finger nails. i will be posting some progress pictures. i want to say thanks for all the support that the people on this forum provide. good information from real people who are in the same situation as you. i have had to buy all new clothes after 6 months. at first i was hesitant but its true" when you look good , you feel good" My surgery was November 9th 2011. ive lost around 130 pounds since then. i have a great support network at home of family and friends. things are finally starting to look up in my life. I still have about 80 pounds to lose but im sure those will be gone soon.
  8. im 6 months post op and have been taking the Bariatric fusion chewable multivitamin. The Vitamins where designed for bariatric patients. you get all the vitamins you needs with 3 chewables. its cheap also, 1 bottle will last you a month. my lab work has been fine since i started taking them. the taste is not bad and its not chalky like other chewables.
  9. I am 5 months out and around 110 pounds down. my clothes are falling off me. i am trying not to buy any new clothes because i am still losing. dont see any reason to buy a new wardrobe when i will need more "new" clothes in another 5 months. i know im going to have alot clothes to give to the thrift store when i get to my goal.
  10. im in the same position i am at almost 5 months and have hit a complete stall. hopefully it will pass
  11. the bariatric fusion is 25 dollars and will last you about a month http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-fusion-gastric-bypass-vitamins-supplements.html
  12. They taste pretty good for a Vitamin. they are not chalky and easy to stomach. you take 3 a day. i tried both flavors and both are fine.
  13. These are the reason i choose to get the sleeve over the band and the RNY.
  14. i take the bariatric fusion vitamins. best bang for the buck and you get everything you need
  15. i am 4 months out and the best advice i can give you is to focus on getting your water down. you can go a day or two without meeting your protein goal, but a day or two without meeting you liquid goal can cause dehydration. i had to be admitted to the hospital 6 days after i was released because of dehydration. if your having trouble with liquids try them at different temperatures. early on i was able to get warm liquids down easier than cold liquids. good practice for getting down all your liquids is always keep a water bottle on you. Good luck.
  16. i told everyone i know so that when i begin to lose weight i didnt get 1000 questions. i figured that all my freinds have seen me struggle with weight so me making the decision to feel better is not an issue. my co-workers are supportive and i found out that one of 2 of my coworkers have had wls, but they just had it years ago.
  17. i was out for 3 weeks. i didnt need 3 but i planned for three just incase the surgery had some type of complications.
  18. my highest wieght was 540. my operation day wieght was 490 and now im sitting at 398. i had surgery on 11-8-11. i am 6 foot 4 . goal weight is 300 pounds.

  21. once i was released to eat solids i ate fast and vomited within 5 min. Worst Feeling ever, but im glad because i learned that i MUST eat slowly.
  22. im afraid to drink soda since it was one of my vices before surgery . empty calories, full of sugar.i drink water, powerade one and crystal light. i am 3 months out and have no issue with protein bars.
  23. i also suffer from back pain. it was pretty bad, some days i would wake up and the pain was so bad i had to call off of work. i also suffered from bad joint pain. when i had my surgery in november i wieghed 490 pounds and i am down to 407 as of today. all of my pain has not went away but it has decreased by alot. now i dont even take pain meds any more.
  24. good luck and keep us posted.
