  1. I am 10 months out and down 152 pounds. The first few weeks i would not focus on anything weight related. focus on healing and getting protein and liquid requirement. it is normal to have some depression and some doubts, i had some depression because i had to come to terms with my monsters. Looking in the mirror and judging ourselves is the hardest thing to do. your sleeve is healing but you must heal mentally also. The sleeve is merely a tool for weight issues but not a fix. in order to be successful you must come to terms with your mental demons. Once you come to terms with your mental demons than you can move on and just focus on the physical part. VST is a great place for advise and support. You have come to the right place. Stay strong and stay positive.

Sorry to hear about the stall. The good things is that i have not met a person in real life or on this forum that has not had a stall. The body is weird like that. Increase your protein intake and that might do the trick. when i was early post op i opted to stay on the liquid diet for 2 extra weeks which helped me break a stall. Water intake is crucial also. make sure your getting enough water. if you get dehydrated than you will probably get constipated which will slow your entire body down. Good luck and say positive !
  3. First things first. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Your anxiety and doubt is completely normal. And you eating just lets me know that your an emotional eater(most of us are). You need get back on track and find away to divert your stress into something other than food. It is normal to have doubts about getting the sleeve also. it took about 2 months for me to get my approval letter. each day i called the weight management center asking for an update. As far as the sleeve working im sure it will. it worked for me . i started at 540 pounds and i am now down to 338 pounds. The good thing is that you are on the right website to get good information and great support. Keep your head up and stay positive. Hopefully this helps.
  4. Ducolax is a great stool softener . if your looking for quick relief , Ive tried Senna tea which produced a BM in hours. Try to stay away from harsh laxatives because they can potentially dehydrate you.
  5. call your doctor , they might put you on some precautionary meds for infection. kinda gross but does the puss have a nasty smell. if there is a smell then its most likely is infected. keep the wounds dry and wear loose clothing.
  6. Ive had a reduction in back pain since surgery , but i have had some increase in back aches and soreness. i have lost almost 190 pounds. my doctor attributes the aches to rapid weight loss and the muscles having to change as my structure changes. i have started physical therapy to strengthen my core and help correct my posture. it has gotten better overall but i still have some general aches. also i have a herniated disk in my back which gives me problems from time to time. i haven't had to use pain meds in a while since i lost all the weight. physical therrapy might help your problems. good luck!
  7. I am pretty open when people ask questions about my spontaneous weight loss. i tell them i had a surgery to help cure my "fattness". i generally get some laughs but in all honesty i dont care how other people feel about MY decision. most people are supportive and some are negative but at the end of the day you are having this surgery. As far as work the supervisor/work issue. the "Female Surgery" excuse should work.
  8. Does he not support you having th surgery? or does he not agree with the cost of having the surgery ?
  9. Most real men won't care about things like stretch marks or a little loose skin. As long as he likes you for who you are, than there should not be a problem.
  10. go to the doc and have them check your blood pressure.
  11. go to the doctor, you might be dehydrated . I spent 2 days out in the sun and had to go to the ER to get fluids for being severly dehydrated.
  12. i recommend having your last meal 2 weeks from surgery. also you should go ahead and clear your house of all bad foods. once you have the sleeve and are put on a liquid diet for 2 weeks you will thank me. head hunger and craving gets pretty strong and if you have the bad food in your house ultimately, it will win. Also by last meal i don't mean go crazy and go on a binge .
  13. Loritab for pain, but i only used it for a few days after surgery
  14. I wouldn't worry about the small gain. i don't suggest weighing yourself daily. Weigh yourself maybe 3 times a week. your weight will fluctuate day to day. make sure you are getting your liquid. Do not walk if it is 100 degrees outside. dehydration will set you back and slow the weight loss. give yourself a break you are only a week out.
  15. I have been sleeved for 7 months now and have lost 130 pounds. its definitely possible. Also if the sleeve does not work it can be converted to the RNY, but the RNY cannot be switched to being a sleeve. i say get the sleeve and if it is does not work(which im sure it will) then have it converted into the RNY.
  16. i had 500 bucks to pay until i met the 80/20 ratio. so i had to pay the surgoens office 500 before surgery. the only person who can give you that answer would be your surgeons office. if you need to pay that much im sure they would try some type of payment plan. who has 2000 dollars just sitting around ? Call your doctors office they should be able to let you know what is needed up front. all together i payed about 3500 for my surgery. best money i ever spent.
  17. Congrats! When i got that letter it was like i won the lottery, and in a way i did .
  18. Fellow man checking in.
  19. im 7 months out and 130 pounds down. im around 1200 calories each day and about 90 grams of protien. Each person is a little different on what they need to sustain the wieght loss. Try increasing your proiten intake to break the stall. That seemed to help me out when i hit a stall. Good job on the 71 pounds that is great.

We all fall off every once in a while, the good thing is that you recognize that you fell off and are willing to get back to it. i suggest weighing yourself only once a week. you will drive yourself crazy looking at the scale daily. Stay strong and stay positive.
  22. Well Here i go! My name is Jordan, I am 24 years old. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. i am Single . I am 1 of 8 Siblings. I have a twin brother. My oldest Sister Died from complications with MS at the age of 24. I work at a medium sized IT company. I enjoy the outdoors and technology. I listen to all types of music. 23. Family can be that way sometimes. Bottom line is that you need to clear the negativity from you life. i had to let a family member know that my decision was final and that if they did not support it or have anything nice to say that our relationship would be over. that person accepted it and apologized after they saw that the surgery changed my life for the better. you are having this surgery to change YOUR life. Stay strong and stay positive.
