  1. i know that i am dehydrated when my legs start to get stiff and of course when my urine gets dark or has a strong smell. Be carefull with dehydration it can set your back especially if you just had surgery. I was severely dehydrated 1 week after surgery and had to be hospitalized for 3 days. Call your doc and ask them if they want you to come in.
  2. I wore a 15w before surgery and can wear a regular 15 now, maybe even a 14w depending on the shoe brand.
  3. Congrats and keep us posted !
  4. My starting BMI was 65 ( I weighed 540 pounds). My BMI was 60 when i had the sleeve surgery (weighed 490). I was classified as " Super Morbidly Obese" . I had 200 + pounds to lose. When i went to see the surgeon i had my mind set on getting the lapband. After speaking with the surgeon about the lapband i removed the lapband from the discussion. The only 2 that were left was the Sleeve and the Bypass. After speaking with the surgeon for about an hour about the pro's and cons of each procedure i made the decision to have the sleeve. There is less to no malabsorption with the sleeve and the weight loss between the sleeve and the bypass are practically the same. Me being 24 the surgeon suggested to have the sleeve. My 1 year anniversary will be on November 9th and have lost 150+ pounds since then and 205 pounds overall. Best decision of my life. Ultimately this is your decision and you will have different reasons for choosing which procedure you will have, I can only tell you my story. hopefully this helps. Good luck !
  5. You should try probiotics. They helped me with digestion of high amounts of protien.
  6. As Circa Stated , i think the biggest reason that surgeons prefer us not have have caffeine immediately after surgery is because caffeine can be a diuretic. dehydration after surgery is a common problem. so having caffeine can cause you to release fluid that you actually need to be preserving.
  7. I would say plan to have at least 2 weeks off. Even though i felt like i could return to work 1 week after having the procedure done, having 2 weeks was great. it allowed me to get used to my new stomach and new eating habits. Also i had more energy the second week . Most people generally take 1-2 weeks off. Are you working or just in school ?
  8. The only thing i regret is not having it done sooner.
  9. Try to drink liquids at different temperatures. some people tolerate cold drinks and some do better with warmer drinks. early on i did better with room temp drinks

  15. great progress ! keep it up and you will be at your goal in no time.
  16. You should post your height, body type and weight so other women can get an accurate example to compare to.
  17. Dehydration can contribute to constipation. After surgery the biggest problem that most people experience is constipation/dehydration. water is very important. for occasional constipation senna is a good laxative for when you are seriously backed up. Senna comes in pill form and also in a tea. for staying normal i take probiotics and colace.
  18. Your story is an inspiration to many others. thanks for sharing the good, the bad and the ugly with everyone. I was sleeved in November of last year and have lost 160 since surgery and 200 overall. your progress is great.
  19. i was 70 % sure that i wanted to have surgery. we all have our doubts and have second thoughts about the decisions we make. The thing that pushed me to have surgery is that i was 100 % sure that i did not want to keep living the way i had lived for years. you have to weight the pros and cons of the surgery and then make you own decision. I am almost a year out and have lost 160 pounds since surgery and 200 pounds overall. best decision of my life. I can only give you my story and my experience. Good luck with your decision.
  20. You need to go back to the basics, Cut carbs out completely and stick to protein and vegetables also when you are about to slip, think about the reason that you had the surgery. Remember that you only fail when you give up. Stay strong and stay positive.
  21. A relationship built on a partners frailties will crumble with any type of personal changes. Its not that WLS destroys relationships, its that WLS removes the veil that kept the sinking boat a float.
  22. I received a letter in the mail stating that he was leaving Jewish hospital for a medical director job at Johnson and Johnson so unfortunately he is no longer performing surgery at all. sorry for the bad news. My surgery was done through the Jewish Weight loss center. im not sure if there surgeons perform the sleeve surgery at different locations. for more information check the link. http://www.morethanadiet.com/
  23. Holidays are always hard. For us in america we have 2 big ones coming up. Thanksgiving and Christmas You are not a failure. Each day is a battle, some you will win and some you will lose. You only fail if you give up. Stay strong and stay positive
