Ready To Be Healthy Again!

Recommended Posts

It's sad that at 26 I have no energy! I'm a full time student (graduate May 2012) yay! I work full time and I'm a mommy!!! I'm drained at the end of the day and I'm at my heaviest I've ever been in my life!! It's scary and since I got high blood pressure after my pregnancy... I'm looking to better my life being healthy for me and my daughter. I hope this November or December is the surgery date. I need to go to my psychological appointment and see how it goes after that. Reading everyone's stories truly inspires me!! :)

Wow! Well that calms my nerves a bit since most people in here say that! I have my mind set. Also I've been reading that it takes 2 to 3 weeks to fully recover. Maybe I should wait and do it in the Christmas break when I'm not at school. What's ur recommendation? You think I can be back at school in a week or the rest and time off is necessary?

I would say plan to have at least 2 weeks off. Even though i felt like i could return to work 1 week after having the procedure done, having 2 weeks was great. it allowed me to get used to my new stomach and new eating habits. Also i had more energy the second week . Most people generally take 1-2 weeks off. Are you working or just in school ?

The only thing i regret is not having it done sooner.

Just want to echo the same thoughts. I wish I would have done this sooner. I think waiting until Christmas break is a good idea. There is recovery time, but there is also some time needed to find your new "groove", too. Your relationship with food is going to change and its not like flipping a switch.

But, you are doing the right thing by coming on here and posting questions and reading. Keep it up and best of luck.

Thanks so much guys!!! I'm going to work full time during the day and school at night. My day starts at 6:00 am and I'm home until 8:00 then it's mommy mode and make dinner take my little one a bath and get ready for bedtime. :/ I'm always on the go!!! But you guys are right. I need to rest. I'm going to wait till Christmas break to have it done. I have enough leave time at work. I work in a federal office so the paid leave is good and also my insurance :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
