KhadijahRose got a reaction from chavezmommy in Breastfeeding mommas!?
I had my surgery marcb 28th, while still nursing my 6 month old. My doctor said if i cohld continue i should, so i have. I am 6'1, my starting weight was 356 at almost 3 weeks out and still almost nursing a nearly 7 month old exclusively, i am at 323, which is nearly 34 pounds in less than 3 weeks. I eat about 700-900 cals a day. I have yet to once reach my Protein goal of 90 grams but i walk and take my vits/mins religiously as well as keep a close eye on my carbs and sugar intake. She is my third and i nursed the other two for 2 years for my first and16 months for my second. I was so concerned that i would not produce enough to satisfy her but it turns out what really does it is my Water intake so im sure to get a good amount in each day. I hope you were or are able to do it

I'm 6'1 or 2 depending on the office or gym. My starting weight was 356 with no liquid diet, I am currently 272 and my goal is 220-215 or a size 10-12. I eat around 2000 calories per day and work out 5-6 days per week. I'm almost 9 months post op and feel really good. I can eat though. I always wonder if my sleeve can handle more due to length...any way I think for my size I'd be considered a slow lower but I'm ok with how things are since I've yet to have a bad case of saggy skin and I still lose about 10 pounds every other month.

I'm almost 2 years post op and had been drinking a cup a day since about 2 weeks out of surgery. Ive only stopped to see if it will help me to kick start my weight loss again.
I've never had any issues with drinking coffee and at this far out I've even had a couple of cups a day. I see hear that it's thought to be an appetite stimulant but for me it was a supressent. It helped me during those times when I felt nauseated for no apparent reason (which has happened since my surgery) or when I had the urge to snack on sweets.
But I think what someone else said is true. The surgeon and NUT guidelines are just that, you've got to listen to and watch your body. That's the only way you'll know if it's good for you.

@@AR40 -- Congratulations on your success so far! You are even shorter than me, so your weight loss has to be a significant change for you. On paper I have a long way to go myself (although I may revise my goal, might be too low for me now that I'm working out like a demon and building muscle), but I'm not worried about it. For the first time in over 40 years of being obese, I know that this time next year I won't be. It it a completely liberating feeling.
For me, even thought the sleeve is just a tool, it is the key that has unlocked the true me. I have never been the size I am now since jr. high. Yesterday I was going through my closet and found an old handbag and in it was a Weight Watchers record book from 2008. My starting weight was 316 lbs! I had no conscious memory of being that big. I had completely blocked it. This past weekend I purchased a pair of size 14 dress pants. No X, no plus size department - a far cry from the size 22/24W I was wearing in August. It's hard to fathom this. I am getting wrinkles around my mouth - not from the weight loss -- but from the constant smiling. I wake up early and happy - every day!
I do understand that I am luckier than most. I have had zero problems since the surgery. Never a bit of nausea, can tolerate everything I've tried. I read some of the posts on this site and my heart goes out to those who are struggling. My wish 2015 is that everyone in this WLS community has a smooth progression towards health and fitness!

I'm almost 2 years out, Al-humdulillah. If you're wondering about fasting with the sleeve, it's the same as fasting without it just that once you break the fast you will definitely be eating sunnah in shaa Allah due to the small amount.

I moved to Africa! Abuja, Nigeria to be exact and realized that I love traveling but my heart belongs to Michigan
I had a miscarriage for the first time after having had 6 successful pregnancies. I realized how blessed I have been and how ungrateful I'd been for being able to get pregnant so easily and have such healthy children with no problems. It was a very rough and thought provoking exeperience. Alhamdulillah(Thanking God)
I'm going into the New Year with a bit more experience and (I'd like to believe wisdom) and going home with a bit more appreciation for "The land of the free, home of the brave"

Congratulations to all of you expecting Mommies! I had vsg almost 15 months ago. Previously I had PCOS with barely any periods and tried clomid for 6 months with no luck. I went from 276 to 168. Im still not at goal but decided to have my IUD removed in August to try. As soon as I went under 200lbs I started getting normal periods. Good luck to all you girls

So I just found out over the weekend that I am pregnant. I have never had a normal period so I do not know when my LMP was. I am scared though. I am a little over 4 months out from surgery. Ugh...I am so excited but so nervous at the same time.

I am now 6 weeks along. This is a massive surprise as I just turned 42 this past weekend. We have been married for 20 years next month. We have tried all through our marriage with no luck. The surgery can definitely increase your fertility as we weren't even trying. Good luck!

You've got to work. My surgeons basically said the first 20-30 lbs are free. The rest you've got to work for. Think of WLS as just one leg of the stool. The other two are exercise and good food choices/quantities. By your own admission, you are missing the other two legs of the stool. Get up, and get moving. Doesn't have to be 30-45 minutes at a time. It could just be 10 minutes 3xs a day, then build from there. Regarding the food, stick with choices that are less than 15 carbs, less than 5 grams of sugar and less than 5 grams of fat. Limit yourself to a few ounces at a time and record using My Fitness Pal App.
    Go to work.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I know I haven't been 100% with the program either. Those little sweets are usually more than you think. When I eat straight my weight drops again, but when I don't pay attention to what I eat (i.e., food log) I don't lose. Our brains trick ourselves into thinking we aren't eating as much as we do. I did this thing where I had one trash can where all I put in it was any junk type or processed food trash I ate for the week. I was shocked by the amount of wrong food I was eating, after thinking I was only having a little here and there. Our brains are broken which is why we needed this tool in the first place to help us. I believe the only way to stay on program is to write your food down so it is in black and white in front of you. But I too have to be better. Thank you for reminding me.

I was almost 9 months post op and had lost 90 lbs when I turned up pregnant. I am now 16 months post op, 8 months pregnant, and still 104lbs down. I weighed 175 when I found out I was pregnant. I am currently 165. Baby is healthy and growing just like he is suppose to. I feel great. I'm so glad I had the surgery before having a baby. You will be just fine......

My Nut, who is big time into food purity, won't eat sugar, drink Creamers, etc, strongly recommended Celebrate. I found out during lab work that I had very severe anemia. That plus an extra 100 pounds.. No wonder I felt like stomped dog doo! One month of two a day celebrate Iron and my level more than doubled. She said it is very well absorbed. It is a little costly but I am sold on the products. I buy online on their site.

    Hi everyone!
I just wanted to post a few pictures of my progress since having been sleeved on 5/3/13. I know that there's someone reading this that's either considering surgery or already had it and are not where they wish they could be. I just want to say that it takes time, effort, dedication, and determination. I'd be lying if i said that i ate a ton of junk food since having been sleeved and lost all this weight. I lost this large amount of weight by working out and training like an athlete, eating clean, and staying hydrated. There were days where i cried, cheated, and gave up but ultimately, i got right back on track and continued. It hasn't been easy but it's definitely been worth it.
I started at a size 26 and i am now a size 16/18. I weighed in at 383 on 5/3/13 and as of today, i'm 263lbs. I worked hard to see that 263 and am continuing to work hard till i reach the onderlands.
I hope that this post can inspire atleast one person today
